THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! I've been trying to beat darker side for some time, but all the other "tips and tricks" waste so much time into useless things, and the people making them don't know how to do anything in the game! I really appreciate the tutorial on not wasting time and actually helping me!
Very nice. I just learned about the Glydon maintaining altitude a while back (shaking the controller). Your method makes this challenge ridiculously easy. I will have to try it. I did it legit, and it took me so very long. I agree though that it was very satisfying when I finally got through. I like how you did not show the very end of the level. I don't know why, but that part made me feel good to see; so I'm glad you didn't spoil it for someone.
My man, you are the only reason I beat this. I was stuck for legit, not joking, 6 hours of pure anger and rage, and could not get past the fork challenge. I forgot all about the shaking the controller for the Glydon, but I couldn't get the launch, so I glided to the Bowser painting, and it was a breeze after that. After hours of frustration, who would have thought all I needed to do was... (drum roll please) not even do the challenges! Thanks man!
100% still works! My Son just beat it after several hours of failing the normal way. It was always the second cyclone, he did indeed shake the controller while hitting it, if he didn't it would never work. It seems like if you get too close to the Bowser portrait it pops you out of the Dino bird so he made sure to stay a good distance to the left.
Same for me yesterday. It took me 10 runs to get niiice and high. Then I got to the left and shaking the little dino with a lot of distance to the Bowser part and managed it to the back of the mountain. My problem on the normal way was the bird-part. I‘m not capable to pick the walls with the beak. Horrible.
Just letting everyone know, everything here still works! Thanks so much! This level was driving my son and me crazy. Now we finally have the invisibility cap.
In the uproot section, go on the question mark box with the heart, and uproot up when ur on it, and then you can skip the ice water section! (NOT A GLITCH, EXPLOIT!!!)
When i first unlocked darker side i found the lava bubble part really hard and then once i managed to not lose a single life getting there it was really really easy XD
Wow! I completed it all after a few days of repeated attempts...these skips make it look so easy (of course I haven’t mastered some of the moves you did, so I will need more practice to attempt this method). Thanks!!
When you get the secret heart with the uproot, if you get on the question block and climb up you can skip the swimming part and get a lot of shiny coins!
leeblackharry after you climb the escalator wall with yoshi, turn around and you’ll see those roof of the building you were just in. If you jump down onto it and go to the top, you’ll find those coins, but I have no clue how to get there from the uproot section
I used these techniques but did that cap/platform skip a bit different. I stood on the edge of the platform and threw the cap down, then shook the controller. Eliminated my need to race to get on top of the platform. I also didn’t go around the Bowser section with the Glydon (I like that Bowser part though); looks like they should have extended the despawn barrier out a bit more 😄.
Great video! However, there’s one helpful shortcut you forgot. After getting the heart in the uproot section, you can hop on top of that mystery box, stretch as far as you can, let go and then exit the uproot and do a little cap dive and you’ll be able to skip straight to the Yoshi section :)
I tried this and everything worked perfectly, up until the glydon part. I got to the bowser painting and the game would force me to uncapture. Luckily, the bowser part is extremely easy.
I think there might have been an update to mitigate at least part of this skip. When I try to use it to get to the Bowser area entrance, I pop out of the Glydon prematurely and die in the lava. I can use it to get past the flick forks though.
Yeah that happened to me too, I think they updated it a while back because people were doing that so they had it do that, so I now have to figure out how to do the Bowser part, I tried once and it was super hard
@@osmiumfish Go to the first wind thing and have it blast you high, keep shaking the controller and when it pops you out, do a dive onto the platform. I did it that way
3:20 an easier way to do this is just to downwards cap throw and then homing cap throw but this is only useful for joycon users. Also when you actually play it a couple of times, darker side isnt that bad, its just stressful. I beat it after first attempt but i lost quite a bit of health and i took it slow.
Still works as of today to skip right to the end. Since no one explained it, you need to keep shaking the controllers mid-flight until you reach the destination (shaking only one controller works if you need the other one to adjust the camera view)
This took me almost 2 hours to do legit but i finally did it. It was mad tough, glad to know there is an easier way to do it now if i dont want to go through it again
This is a lot of fun to beat for real, and I can just get through it now without trouble. That's the point of this. It's difficult for you to use everything you learned along your adventure.
I got working joy cons, did the Glydon section, and it was working out amazingly. But as soon as I flew over the Bowser section, I kid you not, Mario poofed out of the capture and I had to drop of the painting. Did my motion controls do that, or did I accidentally hit a button? Edit: The Bowser section actually wasn't that hard! o.o I beat the Darker Side!
Shit....i did it legit and went through everything 😂👌 wish i knew this!!! But yes it was satisfying :3 the hardest part for me was probably the birdy flicky part. There was one time where I landed smack dab on the large vertical wall where I thought I was safe and one of the boards came swinging and knocked me off -_-
It wasn’t too hard for me. Took me a bit under 20 attempts. The only hard part for me is the platform with lots of small spike monsters trying to attack you.
Thank you so much for this video. While I wasn't able to get all the way to the end by flying, I did manage to get to the bower portrait so it does seen reaching the end was patched.
I surely appriciate your help from your video on eplaining how to do all that. I want to try it all out on exactly what all you did in this video of yours. I rather do it like you did it. A better way to get totallt through all that. I hope I truly can do it. I hope I'm fast enough in some areas that are way more harder & careful enough too. ❤
Actually extremely helpful, but there Is a quicker way to get passed the wall jump part skip Connect 2 player and have Cappy go near the scarecrow, let Mario get up the the platform and then have the 2nd player enable it then you’ve done a lot faster.
I did this level the hard way. Almost gave up. Seeing these skips - specially the glinding one - made me feel like an idiot at first. But then I realised: I didn't "cheat". I beat the level at its hardest. It made the ending look so much more satisfying.

If you have a Wedding Peach amiibo, you can restore yourself to six hearts whenever you want. I'm a bit over having to grind for hours to beat levels so this helps greatly reduce that. I was able to beat the level in a couple of attempts (didn't overuse Peach) and felt like it was a little fairer and actually quite enjoyable! What a great final level!
If I had that I 100% would have done it the whole way. I’m not about to sit for possibly hours dying at the moving platform with those little small enemies just to have to start all over again. I like to have fun when playing Mario games not raging aha
3:24 Still too hard. Just jump, move off of the platform, throw Cappy downward, then shake the controller again, and move back onto the platform. It'll hit the scarecrow thing.
Wich of these ultimate test levels is the easiest in your opinion, and wich one the hardest: Grandmaster Galaxy, 3D Land final level, Champion's Road or the darker side? Please put them from easiest to hardest and explain why they get that spot.
Darker Side Just endurance, there's no real difficult section. Champion's Road Rosalina or Peach makes it super easy, but otherwise it's difficult. 3D Land 8-Crown God damnit, Toad... Grandmaster Galaxy I thought this one was obvious.
I remember when I got SMG2, I finally got 241 ⭐️ but my game was glitched and didn’t let me pass the final level, so I decided to restart in another file but again I got that glitch so I give up.
Honestly I’m glad that more people know this I found out about that by constantly dying and slowly figured out how to control that little gliding lizard and I felt so proud when I found how to do it
I physically cannot do it. I am very jumpy and get excited easily. The dumb motion controls always sabotage me because it thinks im trying to shake the controller. Is there a way to turn it off?

This will save me from broken joy cons due to dying at the Pokio level (it's so precise, which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't near the end of the level, but having to do the whole tedious level every time I miss the 3-to-4-frame window flick by a couple of frames)
I have just attempted it you have to be at a certain height to be forced out of his body.with the trick he shows it actually doesn't force you out of his body and you make to the floor of the bowser painting.i tried it and it works

Easy, First use Guide mode. Second, Just try to beat it with that mode. Third, When you are done with all of that, Save. Then go back to normal Mode. EASY

To make sure you get that launch, you don’t shake until right before the first tornado, and then you have to shake right when you enter it. And then just keep shaking all the way across
Great tutorial. The scarecrow bit at 3.25ish can be done easily by standing on top of the rising platform and doing the downward shake "yo yo" cap throw. Seemples

I just used assist mode, the healing by waiting helped so much in some areas like the lava bubble area and I definitely needed the extra lives

Very nice tutorial it helped me beat the Darker Side! All I’d say is to mention the 6-life under the Sphinx if you somehow lose hearts.

For the three walls in the flower path section, you can do a triple jump to get over all of them pretty easily.

On top of the block I do an extended uproot but still can't see where I can get on top of that section.

It kicks me off glydon and makes me die when I get close to the bowser

Pull back on the analog stick when you get to the wind portions
Shake the joy con and you will fly higher

3:39 it's much more easier in 2p mode
You can always just shake the controller down and then shake it again to make it home onto the scarecrow when you're on top of the platform.

You dont even have to do the backflip. Just stand on the box, throw cappy and hold Y, and flick the controller.

Honestly I’m glad that more people know this I found out about that by constantly dying and slowly figured out how to control that little gliding lizard and I felt so proud when I found how to do it
I physically cannot do it. I am very jumpy and get excited easily. The dumb motion controls always sabotage me because it thinks im trying to shake the controller. Is there a way to turn it off?
Go to options, controls, then turn use motion controls off
I have beaten darker side today and I’m so satisfied with it it’s really fun doing it it’s like the perfect ending

This will save me from broken joy cons due to dying at the Pokio level (it's so precise, which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't near the end of the level, but having to do the whole tedious level every time I miss the 3-to-4-frame window flick by a couple of frames)

I have just attempted it you have to be at a certain height to be forced out of his body.with the trick he shows it actually doesn't force you out of his body and you make to the floor of the bowser painting.i tried it and it works

It works the whole way to the platform
From there I hang out on the left but half way across the platform the camera changes to look down and I lose altitude fast
Almost 7 years later😅 AND IT STILL WORKS I swear they don’t update this game Ty man revisiting the game for which I hadn’t beat dark nor darker side and you help out a lot Ty ❤
Easy, First use Guide mode. Second, Just try to beat it with that mode. Third, When you are done with all of that, Save. Then go back to normal Mode. EASY

To make sure you get that launch, you don’t shake until right before the first tornado, and then you have to shake right when you enter it. And then just keep shaking all the way across

Yeah, I love the Bowser part. Pokio part was the worst.
