Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition Gameplay
So what basically happens is.. Timeline wise.. this game happens between the scene where you loose to Straga and the scene you ask Council to return to earth in Darksiders 1.....And Darksiders 3 happens between this fight with "shadow" War after you faint and you waking up in Maker's Forge
Are you like the crow father? A storyteller?
On of underrated lore
Thank for the clarification on 3. I was always curious on where it was on the timeline.
Finally someone accurately depicts the time line it was soo confusing for me before
There’s also an awesome book called Darksiders: The Abomination Vault. It came out around the time of the second game. Highly recommend for anyone who’s interested! From the back:
“Ages before the events of Darksiders and Darksiders II, two of the feared Horsemen-Death and War-are tasked with stopping a group of renegades from locating the Abomination Vault: a hoard containing weapons of ultimate power and malice, capable of bringing an end to the uneasy truce between Heaven and Hell…but only by unleashing total destruction.
Created in close collaboration with the Darksiders II teams at Vigil and THQ, Darksiders: The Abomination Vault gives an exciting look at the history and world of the Horsemen, shining a new light on the unbreakable bond between War and Death.”
As someone who platinum this game twice, all I can say is myth: You won't be disappointed. This is hands down my personal favorite RPGs of all time and very criminally underrated. Enjoy it my guy.
Agreed. This game is great in all aspects, characters, combat, music, level design...
But did you get the abyssal armor?🤔
I think it's the art style that puts people off (the WoW-like chunkiness), if people could get past that they'd probably enjoy it
@@Bstrdmn You also have people that switch off during puzzles that don't like this. I don't understand them and would never want the puzzle heavy side of these games to be compromised to suit a different market.
@@logiclunacy606 yeah but its not like the puzzles are overly complicated. Like my first playthrough i had a few head scratchers for like 10 minutes, but i think there all pretty easy. Maybe some are just so easy that we just overthink it?
Just so you are not confused, this game is happening during the first time War was imprisoned, so War being chainned is from the prolog of the first game. He hasn't being given a chance to clean up all the mess which is what happens in the first game.
Remember that War was chainned up for a century, well this beggining is happening some time in that century.
Fun fact Mythy, if you haven't found out yet as I'm at the start of this, is that the basic combo has a better version. Press X, pause, then proceed to combo afterwards to end on The Reaper form coming out for an uppercut.
Yup the combos are so satisfying and not that hard too
needs to be unlocked first!
@@AaronGodderis That's the Whirlwind Combo. Not the first one that's available right out the gate.
OK everyone stay calm it's happening ALREADY !!! xD Ty for the video Myth, didn't expect it to be so soon, that's lit !!! :D And as always in case you have nothing planned yet after the Darksiders series you could check out Dead Space 1 & 2 (and 3 in coop
Hell yes, words can't express how hyped I am to watch you explore this awesome game.
Darksiders is one of those rare series that just kept getting better
This game made me think of what a more polished more modern Prince of Persia could be like. Really loved this one
This is definitely my favorite. I’m so excited to watch you play it.
DARKSIDERS 2 is the best of them all
I'm super glad that you are having such a good time with Darksiders 2 already. Your pleasure is our pleasure, and i hope that the sense of fun will continue through all the way to the end, even if some areas are not as strong as others.
Again as said in the past videos, thank you so much for playing these games and wish you a lot of fun for the future.
And if it's alright, i'd like to share with you some knowledge and advice (no spoilers) on the game. It ties into what you say about not caring for builds too much, which DS2 does have an interesting element of. But if you'd prefer to discover it for yourself, here goes:
-Be sure to check out the combo move list, and buy out Thane's move inventory. Some combos make use of pauses before the next button input in the same sequence.
-Charge attacks don't work in "Waiting until fully charged", but instead work with a visual (and i think audio-based, too) indicator with the purple light. When the light is at its most intense, you must release it for extra damage or in some cases, an extra move in the execution.
So imagine it goes not yet -- close -- closer -- almost -- GOT IT -- almost -- closer -- close -- not yet.
Which means you are to release a charge right in the middle.
(that said, you might find this purple indicator in a move here and there that isn't a charge).
-There are two types of Secondary weapons, which are each divided in different sub-sets: Such as claws, armblades and bucklers for Light weapons and axes, hammers and maces for Heavy weapons.
-Each Subset has a different charge attack, such as Glaives having a long range dash or a downwards thrust when in the air, or Bucklers having the unique property of being the only tool to counterattack with... but that must happen at the exact perfect time, as well. And when hit, immediately released.
-Possessed Weapons are a REALLY interesting element that are upgradable for up to five levels and very much customizable. You can feed it your old weapons and gear to clean up your inventory, but if a weapon has special properties that you feed to a Possessed Weapon, such as Lifesteal, Frost Damage or Fire Damge etc. , then at a Possessed Level Up you can select a single new property for your Possessed Weapon... or choose to further up the numbers of an already present property.
-It doesn't have to be just weapons to heighten the chance of adding properties to your Possessed Weapon. I think Charms also work well, but i'm not an expert on this crafting front.
-If you play your cards right, and make sure that certain properties such as Lifesteal are ingrained in your Possessed Weapon already from Level 1,you can make a *very* powerful personal weapon, equipped with stuff like Execution Chance, aforementioned Lifesteal and Wrath Generation.
Sadly it does take away from the novelty of the unique weapons you find, though personally i do find it fun to sometiems challenge myself with weaker unique weapons.
-You can rename your Possessed Weapon. If you don't get a Possessed Mace that you're gonna name Smorkie or a set of scythes that you call Ebony and Ivory, you can expect a riot.
(I'm not even a DMC fan but the scythe names seem like the right call)
As much of a fan of Darksiders as i am, i am no expert in all of this, but if you managed to reach through it all, i hope it helped and was interesting.
Have a good one and take care, as well as a cookie when nobody is looking.
That's awesome. You should make your own review
Thanks for the cookie! *crunch*
As much as I love Liam O'Brien as War, Michael Wincott as Death is PERFECT casting
Fun fact:
Death is actually the one that cut off War's arm, so yeah, the difference in power between him and the rest is pretty staggering
Yup, the main villain from The Crow
Apologies in advance if i come across as a know-it-all, but to my knowledge, War is actually physically the strongest of the Four.
It's just that Death is older, wiser and more skilled, hence his position as the leader of the Four. And in the context of the event where Death cut off War's arm, Fury and Strife were there to restrain him and War was more raging and brutish than he is in later ages such as in Darksiders 1.
Dude *really* needed to be humbled.
That said, i love both voice actors a lot. The voice work on this entire series is really fantastic the way it is.
@@jurtheorc8117 Well... it all just depends on how you define "powerful". Death could beat War (or any of the other Horsemen for that matter) in a fight quite handily, though that doesn't mean he's the best at everything. As far as being a one-man army goes, War is gonna be do a better job.
@@jurtheorc8117 idk.. as far as physical strength goes, death and war are equal as far as ive seen, atleast based on logic.
War couldnt lift ulthanes hammer without the tremor fist while death seems to easily be able to carry around maker weaponry and heavy weapons. Like how ge caught belials giant spear with one hand. And also, harvesters original form is that of a giant scythe, which is a larger, heavier weapon than chaoseater, so the strength logic seems moot. War is just wearing heavier armor honestly. And when there isnt the tremor gauntlet, war uses his prosthetic hand for strength requirements.
In ds1, im most of wars cutscenes, where he showed his feats on strength, war had the tremor gauntlet on .. so his feats are mostly cuz of the gauntlet.
And death is near impervious to damage, and hes physically strong enough to go toe to toe with war and he is faster. So even without furys whip, death wudve one shot war.
I might seem like a fanboy, but based on ds2 storyline, death goes through waayy more powerful bosses than ds1 and ds3 combined
@@darthplagueis13 based on what darksiders series has shown, death seems to be the better one man army.
That guys frikkin went to all different worlds, messed with the big wigs on all worlds and then took down a boss even samael wont dare face.
Corruption and its champion, absalom seem to be one of those special all powerful bosses that stay outta the story line.
So as far as lore and story is concerned death seems to be in a league of his own at being a murder death kill machine.
Now i think as mentioned, when it comes to arcane, fury is the best among the four
I was so invested i didn't even know the video ended untill you said you should probably stop recording
I love this game so much, as it combines smooth af combat and PoP parcour wit RPG elements like skilltrees, loot, and sidequests. I also appreciate the fact that death is more talkative than war.
I dont remember if either tells you this, but War gained his stone arm from Death cutting it off, after he went rogue and slaughtered a bunch of people on earth i believe.
I love the irony in death being in a mission to save his brother, aswell as resurrect the entirety of humanity, it’s definitely not the type of mission you’d expect from someone with the literal name of death 😂
Easily the best Darksiders out the series and they made death so badass he has no time for bs LMAO love this game so much glad your finally playing!!!
fucking loving this series man , these games give me so much nostalgia from when i would come home from school and just play the shit outta them
In a way this game is the 100 year quest that death took up to prove wars innocence most people often forget how long the story is chronologically
Really shows how much imp war and the others horsemen r to death
“It’s mark Hamall you would never knew.” Mark doing his joker voice: “bruh”
This is my favourite of the trilogy pls do a full series Myth
Got darksiders 3 for Christmas downloading it now can't wait to play it
just watched the finale of the first one, now this. perfect timing, 10/10 would like the video again
The music will always give me chills
This one is one of my favorite Games. Death is an amazing and fascinating character.
I started to play this couple of weeks ago!... Can't believe I didn't play it early
oh damn, straight into Darksider 2 already. Wasnt expecting a video only 1 day after. But yeah as others have said, the game takes places during the 100 Years that War was out of commission after he first lost to Straga
You can summon Dusk, The crow, by pressing down on your joystick and he basically tells you where to go if you're lost. Btw this game takes place during the 100 years war is imprisoned, then war gets released, kills the destroyer/Abbadon and summons his brothers and sister
Thane and Ulthane are literally brothers
I strongly recomend watching extended trailer for this game
Yes!! I've played this game as it came out and after almost 10 years I still listen to this games' OST. Jesper Kyd ist one of my favorite composers of game-music out there
I forgot how good the music is in this game, very excited to watch more!
Our boi death has started his journey once again
The most amazing thing about darksiders 2 is that they managed to find an even better voice actor than liam o'brien to voice a horseman.
As this is also my favorite of the series, and favorite Horseman, welcome to the Death Club, friend. 💀
the voice acting cast for this game is excellent, ranging from James Cosmo to Phil LaMarr. amazing casting work
Possessed weapons are basically the best in the game. Whenever you find a weapon or armour piece that you don't need, you can feed it to the weapon to level it up. When you level up a possessed weapon, you get to pick between several passive stat increases which depend on the weapons you fed it in the first place (i.e., feeding that Hammer a bunch of weapons with bonus crit will allow you to get bonus crit on level-up).
This allows you both to get a weapon that fits your personal playstyle well and helps clear up inventory space.
Yay~ DS2!! He is my fav character out of 4 because, despite he is Death itself, the way he address someone, tone, personallity sounds very respectfull and casual sometimes. Like he called Old One and Pup instead Karn. Unlike his Brother War, that mostly want to settle the problem via fist....mostly.
already an Darksiders 2 part lets gooo! i love the game played it many times in the past i'm already excited for your reaction on many things big love to you and thank you!
Ds2 hype lets gooooo, death is my personal favorite out of the 3
beat the darksiders series so many times. darksiders 2 has to be my favorite
Just started replaying this game again. Hope you enjoy mate.
MORE!! my favorite darksiders game right here 😁
Oh boy here we go...
I've been waiting for this moment for so long.
Welcome to my favorite game of all time.
This was one of the biggest games of my childhood. Don't forget to do the dlc's
Dude. Just seeing the notification made me giddy like a child. Excited to see you play one of my fav games of all time.
Its cool how war must fight to bring peace and death fights to bring life. Also myth this happens right after the intro of the first game while war is chained by the council before war tells the council he'll kill the destroyer
I think my favorite thing about this game is how death is by far the most badass of the horsemen and that he’s know even outside of the council more then any of the other horsemen
Oh boy i can't wait!! The presentation in this game is amazing from the voice acting to the artstyle to the music.
The storyline is concurrent with the 1st. War hasn't gone back to earth to clear his name yet, in case you missunderstood.
The same with the 3d game. While Genesis is a prequel that hapens thousands of years before the 1st one(which is also a lot of fun, especially co-op)
I'm binge watching the entire Darksider game here. Your videos are fun as hell man. It's also giving me so much nostalgia. I'm gonna finish every one of your videos. Thank you for amazing content.
Darksiders 2 is absolutely my favorite of the Darksiders franchise so glad you're playing this one..and yea the possessed weapons can get pretty OP especially when you sacrifice weapons to it that have life leech and other extra special effects..you're gonna love 'em
YES, YES, YES, YES THIS IS MY FAVOURITE ONE LESSSS GOOOOOOOO
Wow I didn't expect you to start this one so soon. Can't wait to see your playthrough of this and what you think of the story and gameplay. I don't know if its clear, but I believe this takes place between the start of 1 where war arrives on earth and mostly takes place while hes captured. Thats why the crowfather talks about war being chained by the council.
Death is my favorite character in the series also you're going to love Darksiders 3 it plays more like a dark souls
darksiders is one of my favorite. Keep it up bud hope you enjoy it too!
Bro words can't explain how happy and hyped I am for this series. Thank you Mythy for playing these games
Yes I really want to see this play-through really like your editing style!!!
Presentation wise, in terms of cinematics and such, I think the first one is still king. This one has great combat and I like the loot system too.
Presentation and story wise darksiders 1 was king, truly.
But darksiders 2 has the better combat system with many combos, better enemies, vastly fleshed out the darksiders universe and told stories of a more grander scale.
The only awkward feeling was that playing rpg with a horseman of the apocalypse was wierd, a horseman shouldnt have to scavenge for weapons when they already have op weapons.
But i suppose based on lore, death isnt supposed to carry his original harvester unless its on council sanctioned missions. So he gotta rpg cuz he dont have his OG scythe.
Darksiders II has DMC-style combos. You can delay an attack in a combo and often get different combo paths from it. Playing around with that for a bit (or looking up the combos in-game) will teach you a lot of situational maneuvers, especially in terms of crowd control.
This man been uploading for years, yet is so underrated as a RUclipsr!
The "super mario 64" flip is actually a way to disincentivize dodge spamming. The 3rd dodge in a row is slower and leaves you rooted for a short moment, meaning if you are too spammy against an aggressive enemy you can be caught without a dodge at the wrong time. I guess it's essentially an alternative mechanic to having stamina.
My personal fav of the series because the combat feels fluid like dmc but I always enjoyed the Zelda style progression and puzzles
Wait until you get to the Guardian boss battle!
EPICNESS!
absolutely 🔥
omg this is gonna be so hype
My favourite of the three. Have fun buddy ☺️
I’ve been waiting like two years for this. Fuck yes, best december of 2021.
Yes bro! Love the rpg and equipment mechanics my guy, your going to love it!!!
I really recommend you buy those moves that do a reaper shadow as a finishing hit, they do a lot of damage. Also I remember that move that makes you spin in the air being really bullshit. You can basically dash+jump for the knock up and then spam the scythe cyclone thing and it does a shitton of damage especially against bosses since they leave big dps windows for you and you just shread them
you already started darksiders 2? that's super amazing i am excited as DUCK to watch this series
Now this is the game that I love a lot
Best hack n' slash I've played when I was younger it's a masterpiece
It's actually a really good thing that you're able to beat that maker this early, albeit it's completely possible to do it this early it just depends on skill obviously
YES! YES! FINALLY ! your content is really enjoyable to watch . keep it going please . also, it's better to just go down through one skill tree because you won't be getting enough skill points. you could unlock all of them but they won't be good enough later in the game. better just upgrade the same ones multiple times. your ghouls will slaughter if you fully upgrade the necromancy tree by the way
I played the first two games ages ago, so seeing you go through them is a blast, and I'm super excited to see the 3rd one for the first time, never got around to playing it myself
I love this game so much, I'm struggling with finishing the first one, but this one is one of my comfort games, it just feels smooth
Darksiders 2 is one of my favorite games . I was glad he started playing this quick.
this bring back so many memories
looking forward for more darksiders !
I didn’t think you’d start the second one so soon! I’m loving this
OMG YES !!! one of my favourite games !!! love you myth
After watching your series about the first one I'm super excited about this
Mythy I starred playing Darksiders 2 a few days ago so im a little bit ahead of you at the moment, but seeing you fight Thane and 17 mins of trying hit me in the feels. Same bro, same.
For the people who wana know about builds there's mainly two
Crit harbinger build
Necromancer build
These r the two major and everything else mostly comes in between as a hybrid of the two
The most unique being reaper build which focuses on deaths reaper energy and his true form but it's more of a way of playing the game and less an OP build
I'm really exited to see how much of this game's optional content you complete!
Btw Thane is actually Ulthanes older brother.
Ulthane escaped their world b4 corruption set in and became a renowned smith, and thane became a warrior.
Have fun Myth! This is one of my favorite games from the ps3/360 era. Heads up about the deathinitive edition in case you want some “difficulty tweaking”: there’s a glitch you can exploit with buying and upgrading possessed weapons😉
This game is honestly so underrated. I know that darksiders is a bit popular but darksider 2 has such a fun and fast paced combat and in general everything ist fast fun and fluent for which I think the game doesnt quite get the recognition that it deserves.
something to know about Death, while he is the strongest of the four with immense arcane power, his main occupation is that of an artisan. he crafted many pieces of gear and weapons for the nephilim and the horsemen. the Harvester, Death’s signature weapon, was crafted by himself and is so powerful that it cannot be used without sanctions from the council.
just an interesting lil tidbit.
His occupation WAS that of an artisan. He was and is always a badass warrior first.
The power to kill absalom twice doesnt come to anyone who is primarily an artisan.
And fury is more of the arcane person than death as far as ive heard. Death is more about the anti-life undead thingy.
This is by far my most favorite hack and slash game, I’ve put so many hours playing this game. Hope you have fun bro.
Lovely to get the next Darksiders game so soon.
I LOVE that game man.
2 is easily my fav Darksiders. It’s almost like if Legend of Zelda was based on the mythology of Hell.
Myth, deaths and fury's storylines happen before the destroyer is slain by war. Deaths happens a little bit after war is imprisoned and fury's happens about 3 decades before war slays the destroyer
You should put all your skill points in the harbringer tree, necromancer skills are only good with the right build and armor sets for it
I'm glad you're already playing this one. I think you'll be even happier with the OST of this one than the first. As well as with everything else in my opinion ;)
Waited a hell of a long time for this video glad to see it finally here.
DARKSIDERS 2! LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Hell yeah darksiders is 1 of my favorite franchises and 2 is the best in my opinion. Btw myth you missed something in DS1. There is a area with a npc next to tiamats dungeon you should visit because that npc will come back in part 2 and is somehow important ;)
MythyMoo going sicko mode rn
I love how myth spent the 17 minutes to defeat him.
Super hyped for this series, this game is amazing and so are you!
Now THIS is the one I played, never tried the first but this was the one that made me exited to see what's next, then darksiders 2 happened...
But Darksiders 2 is dope as hell
