Woo my old-time favorite Marvel character. Not a huge fan of the retcons, but back in the 90s I would track down as many issues as I could find. Gave me such joy however many years ago to walk into a toy-store and see he had his own figure. Thanks for the episode!
Man, thank you for making this video. I thought that I was the only person left that knew about this character. I never thought that we would ever get a Moon Knight series so who knows what's going to happen in the future.
I remember Darkhawk being one of the few classic comics I was able to consistently keep up with for a while. I wish I had seen some of his other team-up stories, though...
@Rodney Abernathy I love Darkhawk! I brought the second Darkhawk comic book issue as a kid, but he has two problems that will hinder him from joining the MCU. The first issue of Darkhawk is his confusing origin story that keeps changing. Darkhawk's second issue is his secret identity (the MCU does not do secret ID(s)). The final issue is that Darkhawk has no weakness (too OP).
@Rodney Abernathy That is okay! I will explain. One Fine Day takes place in Marvel comics after the events of Civil War. Civil War in the Marvel comics is similar to the MCU's Civil War. Side one was commanded my Captain America, and that side fought for people who wanted to keep their identities. Side two opposed Side one and was commanded by Ironman. Ironman's side wanted all heroes to give up their secret identies and register with the government as sanctioned heroes. Peter (Spiderman) publicly unmasked to join team Ironman shortly after mysterious receiving biological-spider-enhancements. As result of his unmasking, Peter was fired from the Daily Bugle for being Spiderman, but Tony gave him a new job plus Spider armor. Several comic book issues later Peter quit team Ironman after coming to the conclusion that his side was too radical. As a result, some of Peter's enemies hurt his aunt May. One Fine Day was Peter's bargain with the devil Mephisto to heal his aunt May. Mephisto fulfills Peter's request, but removes the memories of Peter's public identity as Spiderman from those who learned of it after his public unmasking, he extracted Peter's biological-spider-enhancements returning him to Spiderman levels of his first comic book issue, and he ended the marriage of Peter & MJ.
I really think he should appear in the MCU. I think he would be one of those characters that would get famous thanks to the MCU like the Guardians Of The Galaxy.
I fucking love darkhawk.. He was my favorite character as a kid.. I collected from the first issue till the end of the series when it first came out religiously. I feel like he could be huge.. But then again I've always felt like that. I like what they did with him in avengers arena was it? And in some of the big cosmic stuff
lol i bought a darkhawk comic when i was a kid only cause i thought he looked cool but had no idea who he was, and became one of my favorite superheroes
I swear, I didn't even know the character existed when I first chose this handle back in the day (circa 1995). Kinda surprised it's been used as much as it has, even in recent years. Fun vid!
@ 1:43, that comic was a foil cover edition and I have it! I have a bunch of Darkhawk comics from the 90's. The way they explained that there was more then one and how when the hero is in Darkhawk form, his human body is on an alien ship in stasis was such a cool new idea. I miss being in the 90's and having such great comics.
To me This Character is Marvel's Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes) difference being this character came first. With both characters getting inspiration from anime characters like Tekaman Blade and The Guyver Which also inspire an image comic character called Tech Jacket.
I'm here because of Marvel Snap. I don't have his card and he is such a good card that I expect him to show up in a show soon with Disney. His new design looks very good. Thank you for your informative video.
I really enjoyed your coverage of Darkhawk. Can you tell me about several G. I Joe related Cobra members whose names are CBX-825, CBX-023, and CBX-001?
Darkhawk, The New Warrriors, a few Spiderman titles, just about all the X-Titles (including Classic) and a few others were what I bought in the Early 90's to late 90's. Uncanny X-Men #259 was My First comic I ever got, Colossus on the cover punching some Ja'bronies! MAN!! Those were the days.
crazy i never heard of this character but he was part of vital parts of the Marvel Universe - i bet there was talk of putting him in one of those movies.
Holy crap! Literally, for the past year I have been researching a particular heroes logo. I am 43 right now and when I was a kid I was obsessed with the two part diamond logo. I drew it all the time. I wanted to use it as the logo for a company of mine... But I wanted to avoid copyright infringement. So for the past year I was researching logos because I could have sworn I got the design from a hero in the comics. I have viewed every logo, I have researched every hero and villain, I have gone to just about every single website I could think of........ Basically I spent so much kind trying to find the logo. Then today at 7:37 in the morning I wake up. Check my RUclips notifications then decide to watch a couple videos. On the top of my recommended list is this video and wouldn't you know it... THERE'S THE GODDAMN LOGO! AFTER I STOPPED LOOKING FOR IT 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I first came across Darkhawk in the early 90's in issue #9 (I believe) when he teamed up with the Punisher. That was the bar of approval I needed. I later collected and read the whole series. Thoughts: Darkhawk is cool as hell. I always felt as a kid he should be a household name, but he's not. Glad he is getting his due as of recent times. While I thought the upgraded armor was great, I feel the original costume is awesome. I feel like Marvel rested their laurels too much in putting DH in teamups early on. I get they wanted him to have as much exposure as possible (in his own title and outside of). The Defenders were great later on...I just wish Marvel let DH grow a little more on his own as a character exploring his own story instead of DH doing that AND jumping into others long established canons and instead maybe did crossovers and teamups sporadically with him. War of Kings was ok. I loved the art more than the story...the covers are gorgeous. If I have any real complaint in the series...its this: Darkhawk #1 was kinda lame. Maybe I had the backstory built up in my head at the time when I first stumbled on his collaboration with the Punisher and other issues I had read as a kid, but I remember being underwhelmed in a major way once I got my hands on it. In a ironic twist, nearly 20 years later (circa 2011) I stumbled on War of Kings at a comic shop along with #1. I bought them immediately, and was just as underwhelmed after reading #1 as an adult. I dunno, maybe it was just the execution because it feels clunky still to this day (although it has a badass cover). *AWESOME character despite my gripes! GO DARKHAWK!
So I guess Image Comics was ripping off Marvel by coming up with the Shadowhawk character, if anyone remembers that character. Does Image even still exist any more?
The timeline of Darkhawk's history is a bit off. It also misses two important parts of Darkhawk's history- his time in the Runaway's comics, and his starring role in the Marvel Team-Up "League of Losers" arc, written by Robert Kirkman.
Another piece worth mentioning was Darkhawks's supporting appearance in non-canon U.S. War Machine (2001). That was where the idea of the datasong corrupting Chris's mind was first introduced, and it eventually got adapted into the 616.
Well that's kind of cool that you even made this video and thank you so much for it! Really sincerely sad how the original '90s vision of dark hawk completely died........ I actually liked him a lot! Now too bad his redcon basically made him a lame knock off of Blue beetle. Now Todd McFarlane said spawn was inspired by Blue beetle! So clearly that particular superhero idea already existed for a while by the time 90s comic book superheroes entered. It was just kind of cool to see a Spider-Man-like dark superhero is all. clearly that is long gone now
Darkhawk was my favorite character in the 90s and a big part of why I got into Marvel. He lead me to New Warriors and a few others before I stopped collecting Marvel with Civil War (what they did to the NW was awful). I always got the feeling they didn't know what to do with him. Between the retcons and such how do we know what really happened and what was a hallucination? I want to get all the comics he's in, but they're not indexing him well. Everything after he fell into that singularity is new to me. Thanks for updating me.
I really think they could have combined origins. Dargon bokk could have used said scientists to utilize the amulets for his purposes. It would have been nice to see the 5 other darkhawks again.
That or their combined work happens to resemble the raptors and their tech. A monkey with a typewriter kind of situation. That could have led to interesting interactions because while Darkhawk resembles the Raptors, it isn't one of them and is fittingly enough their parallel.
Darkhawk was created shortly after I started reading comics way back when. He's always been one of my most favoritest characters. After issue #50 (I had gotten out of comics until a few years ago or so) he disappeared and I had always wanted him to be brought back, that last issue left his story unfinished for me. When I saw him again in Annihilation Conquest I found out there was a whole bunch I missed out on. I wish they could bring him back as a more permanent character, but tone him down a bit... at the end of it all, they made him WAY too OP to be used as a continuing character. Still love Darkhawk tho... I have the entire original run collected 😻

You know , Nova , and Darkhawk both have been spun into a Green Lantern corps like story despite both starting off originally as solo characters. An interesting spin-off would be one person having both the Nova Force Helmet , AND the Darkhawk Amulet . This would create a very interesting one shot character. Plus the costume might be an interesting drawing combing a Nova Helmet with a Darkhawk body. With a completly new color scheme.
I came here for clarification. And now I'm more confused than ever.
It's simple he is blue beetle with a cristal and is cooler

The first comic book I ever bought darkhawk number one
I remember seeing this comic in the stores back then but I never picked it up, the character looked rather Power Ranger-ish to me but not too bad of a comic, I guess.
Gad damn, this guy really haves some complicated lore to his name XDDD
I liked how Darkhawk was, before the revamp.
Fantastic work on this video. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻
Dark Star Hawk please arise
Darkhawk's costume design is so generic. But he's still cool in a way.
I wish i can play dark hawk
Who else is here because of Marvel SNAP lol?

As a teen, I really liked Darkhawk.

@@DeezNutz-mq6oy same😥
*When Marvel making a Avengers Mech team comic series in 2021 but they didn't Included Darkhawk.*
This guy has blockbuster movie deal all over him
He is cool
Found DarkHawk in 93.or 94
how about a video on Minion: Deaths Head 2
You know , Nova , and Darkhawk both have been spun into a Green Lantern corps like story despite both starting off originally as solo characters. An interesting spin-off would be one person having both the Nova Force Helmet , AND the Darkhawk Amulet . This would create a very interesting one shot character. Plus the costume might be an interesting drawing combing a Nova Helmet with a Darkhawk body. With a completly new color scheme.
Dark hawk can turn into a suit similar to megatron.
Death’s Head? Now THERE’S a franchise quagmire!
I had his trading card and always wanted the books but could never find them at my comic stands. I cringe at deaths head being mentioned to this day
@@billdagrasshawking What’s wrong with Death’s Head?
@@jackofallclaws6672 he always looked awesome but could not find his comics anywhere on the stands where I was in Toronto
@@jackofallclaws6672 I always stared at his trading card wondering about how bad ass he must be but never actually got to read a comic to this day
Deaths head 2 looks stupid.
