Thanks for taking the time to review my design, you're right it was partially inspired by a star wars ship, The Moldy Crow from the Dark Forces game series
Thank you for checking out my video! I really enjoyed building this and I really liked the variety of builds here. Props to you for figuring out a way to design something like this with the parts available, you definitely put in some awesome techniques
I wish Lego would remake the entire Classic Space line in this style, not just one set. It's been a decade without a new space theme and I need my fix.
Damn that mech I saw on a thumbnail earlier in the video on the website looks awesome, same with this though, I love the look of the front and even the slight upward tilt when landed as that makes me think of junk ships or rickety ships which feels kinda charming
People got really creative with the parts available in this set. I still really want to build one of the mechs but haven't gotten to it yet. I'm interested to see how structurally sound they are
The variety of stuff you build with this is very cool. The ship design is so unique compared to a lot of other classic space builds too which makes it really stand out
9:29-10:03 You mentioned a couple of spare parts for guns one for an antenna or gun. Why not connect the Technic pin to the front as you suggested for guns but instead add the control stick to the front of that to form two longer sturdy antennas one for each side. Keeping to the original aesthetic that these are Space Explorers & not Space Marines. Otherwise, I have to admit the ship in it’s own right is UNIQUE in style of build. Thanks for sharing nice alternative build. Hey, one more thing. Add this alternative build along side Benny’s Spaceships alternative build station and what you might have is a (pardon the pun) ‘Benny’s Colony’ with the addition of Benny’s Squad.
Good point about the space exploration angle. I picture their ships as Star Trek styled ones where they would still have some defenses. Especially with Blacktron being out there. I had to take apart the base to build another alternative build, but really want to build it again. It would be cool to build on the base concept and have something like the Martian, with research pods and other modules.
Wow that is incredible! The build is awesome and might be cooler than the original! I definitely gotta build this myself. Are you ever gonna make another video on another alt build for the galaxy explorer?
Thank you for the comment, there's a lot to like about this very unique build. I did a community poll and will be building the UT-928 Galaxy Transporter this week, and hopefully get the video out on the 4th
Would you be willing to try the other alt build, the rover I believe? Also wonder what the Stingray deep space alt build looks like, think thats what I'll do next weekend. Good vid, cheers
Thanks for the review, just found out about this alt. build yesterday. Looks like I’ll be buying a fourth 10497. 🙂 I wonder if there is a mod that could be done to give the ship a forward rake when it is on the ground…🤔
@@Brickrattyop If Lego sold more yellow cockpits it would be easier to make Classic Space MOCs. I should have probably picked up that Buzz lightyear ship because of the cockpit but was never interested in the movie and so missed out on the set. But now in hindsight I feel like I should have got it. (Just for the rare yellow cockpit piece.)
The instructions are available for purchase in the description. The designer is pretty high profile, he submitted the original Lego Ideas projects for the original Ecto-1 set and the Seinfeld set. I don't expect him to offer them for free
I don't remember having any structural issues with this one. I think my main issue was the landing gear, but everything else is strong and built well. I really like the research base from this build, and the ship has a very unique building experience. Overall I would definitely recommend it!

That would be very fun. With the upcoming space themed collectible minifigure series coming out, I wonder if there's a chance for some sets too
I loved building this MOC.
It was very creative and a fun experience for sure
This is very cool. I bought this set so I'll have to try it out. Great video
It's a very unique alt-build and fits very well with the main build if you get multiple. Thanks for checking out the video and happy building!

I really want to make this a Jedi starship for my series!!
It's a cool looking ship and could definitely work for something like that!
That is amazing!

I like the pod and the vehicle but Id like to see a smaller ship
Yeah a third smaller ship build with this would be cool
@@Brickrattyop I just found some other versions on rebrickable, even some free ones that are pretty cool

If I get another galaxy explorer on clearance I'll build it

I think a 2nd technic joint could fix it, but the leg might not fold all the way in
I wanna build some Classic Space MOCs but I don't wanna take my galaxy explorer apart.
I'll probably have to buy another one. (or two)
It's one of the only sets I have multiple of, it's a great parts pack and I've had a great time with all of the custom instructions I've bought

@@Brickrattyop aw man that really sucks,i was looking forward to building this, thank you though
Goated😮
Brent Wallet did it again!
This is a question for you and/or anyone else who has built this, how's the durability?

@Brickrattyop Sweet thanks for the review and quick reply!
I'm glad to help! The designer for this build is awesome, and I'm glad I can share some of their work
shows how to build it
I did not create this, it is just a review. The instructions are available for purchase on the creator's website which is in the description.
It doesn’t capture the classic space style
Not 100% but the features are nice, and compliments the more detailed Galaxy explorer
awesome
Thank you for checking out the video!
