Ryan definitely made Detective Pikachu, without him it would have been another overly cringey kids live action movie.
I think there was plenty of non-cringey stuff aside from Reynolds, but he definitely is a big factor if not the biggest.
The movie was good in its own. It had a good script and was made with an older teen to adult demographic in mind. Ryan Reynolds adds his own mix which is very appreciated, but don't give him too much credit, others worked on it too.
