Because the writers decided to butcher nearly every character and the entire show in season 7 and 8. The entire thing was rushed and we needed more time for Dany’s character to become “mad”. She showed absolutely zero sympathy for her brother who just had his eye gouged out and instead ordered for him to be questioned about the fact her children are bastards. She is partly responsible for Harwin strongs death because if she had just remained faithful he wouldn’t have been murdered.
In the books, she ordered daily executions and hired people (knight inquisitors) to hunt down innocent children. She was a terrible person who had no care for the people of Kingslanding and would instead sit in her high tower (no pun intended) throwing feats and extravagant birthdays for her kids (which was all funded by taxes that she raised from the poor). She was literally named ‘Maegor with tits’ by the townsfolk.
Blood and Cheese - I don’t give a crap who hired them, they represent Team Black and Rhaenyra did not try and stop them by any means, or seem to show much compassion for their actions - threatened to rape a 6 year old girl because her mother couldn’t choose which of her kids should be killed. They threatened to rape Helaena, and caused her so much psychological pain and guilt that she killed herself out of grief.
Helaena and her children were the only innocent characters in this whole situation, and yet suffered for nothing.
If Rhaenyra had been fair and given her child a punishment for his actions of taking another child’s eye, Luke may have still been alive, but she didn’t. She pushed off the accusations and forgot the whole incident within a few days. Her children faced no punishment for attacking Aemond, which caused Aemond to build up a resentment towards his nephews which ultimately lead to Luke’s death. Rhaenyra’s children bullied Aemond their whole childhood, and got no consequence. I don’t care how many times people claim Rhaenyra is innocent.
She is one of the worst of them all.
