I'm literally obsessed with Rhaenyra and Ser Harwin relationship. I wish they were the endgame. The actors did great job showing emotions while interacting even without much dialogue. Now I need to see more of them.

It wasnt a lie, because he didnt meant it as in "he isnt the best match for Rhaenyra when it comes to her happiness". What I belive he meant by that was that Harwin wasnt the best match for Rhaenyra when it comes to politics, that lets be honest when you are a momber of the royal class, meaning noble houses so be a hreat house or a lesser one, marriage more than usually doesnt have anything to do with either of the spouses happiness but what is important is the family. So in other words noble houses usually didnt married for love but because they had a responsability.
I belive Tywin would have agreed to this even though he did marry out of love

Can anybody tell me why Harwin, despite being a highborn, was never considered as a potential match?
He was the only decent man who lets Rhaenyra be herself, not just as a princess.
1. He's the only one who smiled at Rhaenyra's boldness when she killed the boar. He seems to appreciate the strength of a woman.
2. He let Rhaenyra have fun exploring the city and never told anyone about it.
3. He only used his strength and protected her when needed.
4. The way he assists Rhaenyra and carries his baby shows how gentle he could also be if needed.
5. He would've been a fantastic Royal Consort to Rhaenyra.
Even though Harwin would be Lord of Harrenhal, House Velaryon is a bigger and richer house. Also, Lyonel Strong himself suggested the Laenor match over his own son Harwin.

Unfortunately, House Strong is not part of the Great House (i.e. Stark, Baratheon, Lannister, Tyrell, Martell, Velaryon, Targaryen, Tully, Frey etc.). Since, she is the heir to the Iron Throne, her suitable match is either within the royalty or with the Great Houses. Though it shouldn't have mattered as Viserys allowed her to marry whom she chooses but that was before the brothel scandal.

Think how different everything would be if Ser Lyonel practiced some self interest and pushed for Ser Harwin to be King Consort... literally the Greens would not have had a leg to stand on! The actor playing Ser Harwin and the actress playing young Rhanerya said they were Twin Flames lovers.. the actor also said that he was a man that was not afraid to stand in the shadows and support Rhanerya and protect his children.. his honor was loving and protecting them... to me Harwin was the calmer, kinder and healthier relationship but similar passion that Rhanerya experienced with Daemon.

Viserys should have married Rhaenyra to Harwin. If that were the case, no one would question black-haired boys. Frankly, despite the screen time, I like Harwin Strong more than Daemon Targaryen. Of course, there is the influence of the great Ryan Corr in this.

I stopped watching HoTD, not because it's not good, I actually really loved it! But it just made me super depressed bc of the constant horrible shit that was happening.
I KNOW it's just a TV show and it's fake and it sounds dumb that it affects me so much, but hoenstly it made me feel really bad.

Had Harwin’s father not been a loyal subject who sought only to give good counsel to Visery’s, but rather advance his own position. His son might have married the princess. Visery’s did tell her to seek out any match she wished. Though I’m unsure if she’d have chosen Harwin has the circumstances with her uncle and Ser Criston not forced Visery’s too revoke the ‘free choice’ he gave her earlier and force her to marry Laenor.
Harwin was heir to the great seat Harrenhal, vast and wealthy lands in the riverlands. His father was on the council. He’d be a strong contender, dare I say stronger than a Bracken or the Blackwood boy. After all, Targeryen’s didn’t always wed into Great Houses. House Royce and Daemon for instance.
Had Visery’s been smart he’d have made a northern alliance. They were still bitter about the great council. Alternatively, a Baratheon alliance. I know Corlys had the greatest fleet and was at the time the richest man in Westeros, but there were options just as beneficial. House Strong amongst them. The Harrenhal lands are amongst the wealthiest in Westeros and the castle whilst an absolute ruin is strategic during wartime.

Harwin was better for Rhaenyra. Laena was better for Daemon. I'm not Team Daemyra. Two hotheaded dragons is not the best mix.

Well i k they were not endgame but they should have elaborated a little. I am sure it was a beautiful story but not more besutiful than Daemon and Rhaenyra's. Daemyra chose to strengthen the claim plus they were of one mind and soul. Too bad Rhaenyra was never able to separate love and politics. Alicent thinks she did, but she never could as well... hm, she thinks Rhaenyra has all the freedom she never has but...that is not true at all. The iron throne is like a massive puppeteer which binds everyone to it with invisible chains. Good job Drogon, son of Dreamfyre(?) and Daenerys!!! You freed the dynasty! Truly breaker of chains!
