I'm relatively a newbie to whiskey, but have been a subscriber to your channel for about a year. I had no idea you had done a Bardstown tour. I just visited there last week without knowing anything about them and was BLOWN AWAY!!! I only did the barrel thieving tour, but fell in love with their campus, operations, and selections. I even tried a flight at the bar and immediately put the Amrut Collaborative as the best whiskey I've ever had. I balked at the $160 price tag, but now I regret not picking it up. I can't wait to pick up their Origins and start hunting for the Amrut!
We did a Bardstown Bourbon tour a couple weeks ago. Trent’s video was spot on with our tour. It’s an awesome distillery!! Picked up a Steve Nally autographed bottle of Discovery #6. So looking forward to Mr. Nally’s 2023 release. Can’t wait to get back to Bardstown, KY, great little town!!
Although I am not into bourbon, nor hard alcohol, this process was absolutely fascinating to watch - it is very similar to how craft breweries brew their beer. I would love to see more episodes like this. It’s always enjoyable to watch someone’s passion unfold in front of a camera. Keep up with the awesome videos!
I was in a walking boot when my son and I visited the Bardstown Bourbon Company in October, so we passed on the tour and went straight to a tasting in the Vintage Bourbon Room. It's an amazing sight and pretty unique for any distillery I've visited. We had lunch at the BBCo's restaurant and I had a Hot Brown that was so good you'd slap your own mama for it. Highly recommended.
When you guys get back down this way, I'd love to meet up and have a drink with you! You guys are so down to earth. Excellent job on the video for this one, Trenton! Thanks for all you both do.
I encourage anyone who hasn't been to the area to include Makers Mark on your tour. It will give you an entirely different perspective in regards to the process. Some of the smaller distilleries are also worth the trouble of making an appt. if necessary. By all means, also go to one of the large ones. I think all provide a piece of the puzzle in regards to bourbon.
I just bought a bottle of Bardstown and suddenly it is my favorite. I rarely spend over $30 but this was worth the step up. I think I will try to always have it on my shelf.
We were there yesterday. Wonderful tour and tasting. Brought home a bottle of their Triple Blended Stave Finish 109 proof, 54.5 % alc available only in the gift shop. Looking forward to cracking it open.
This is great. It takes your channel to another level. Very enjoyable. It was hard to hear during your tour of the process area. You might think about adding closed captioning to help.
what a great tour. I have a friend that lives right outside of Lexington. We have a trip planned to go see her and she is taking us on all the tours. Didn't know Bardstown has all those bottles...
What a great treat for the viewers, let alone you guys!!! That's awesome that you got to visit. Does this mean you're in Kentucky and are hitting the trail? BTW, my SLB merch just arrived...super fast shipping...looking forward to representing your fine channel!
My wife and I have been there. We just went to the gift shop. Had I known you were going I would have asked if you could have stopped by Willett and picked us up a bottle. 😆 I hoped you had the opportunity to visit the other distilleries in the area. I really like Bardstown.
Really enjoyed the video. We are visiting in June. And will hit a few distilleries in Bardstown. Any non-distillery things in the area you would recommend? Bars or restaurants? Thanks for filling up our weekend cocktail tastings with great videos.
Downtown Bardstown is pretty small to be honest but there is a hamburger joint we went to that was very good. Smaller place but they do burgers well! We didn’t have a chance to do bars but we were recommended to go the the Tavern that’s downtown also. Again it’s not big so you should be able to easily find stuff.
Love the bubbling fermenter of Brewers beer @3:13. I bet that smelled fantastic. Glad to see they are not simply using MGP to produce their distillate and then simply paste on a label and a fake story of how it was produced in the ancient tradition of someone or other. Loved the bottle library at the end. Grandmother had an old bottle of "Prohibition Whisky" left over from actual medical needs. Neither was much of a drinker apparently. That old bottle reeked of history and the aroma of old whisky. Never got to taste any :-(
Kurt, enjoyed the video. I would recommend sub-titles be added for the distillery portion as it was hard to understand what everyone was saying. Should be a breeze for Trenton. 😎
Thanks for sharing. While watching, I was wondering if the mash bill is ever tweaked based on the quality of grain. Different corn varieties have varying starch levels. Do they check that?
I was wondering the same thing. Like when wine makers test the level of sugar in their grapes, do they test the level of sugar in their corn? Or maybe it isn't as important because it is a distilled product.
Awesome Tour! Thank You so very much for taking us on the trip. I have never been there and it was almost like being there myself. Did they offer an actual tasting at the end of your tour?
@@slbdrinks That's what I thought that bottle was but then I was confused. Contracting the bottling makes sense. I didn't know that. Thanks for the video!!
Stopped by there after Jim Beam and before Heaven Hill. They were an added stop so we didn't have a tour. Was the rudest place in Kentucky. Everywhere else was welcoming and friendly. No one even spoke to use there.
They were actually bottling Pinhook. They contract the bottling only for Pinhook. We did get a couple nice bottles on the trip. A nice bottle from Bardstown that only is sold in the gift shop.
"Man"! What an amazing 👏 VIDEO YOU TWO MADE,FOR US TO EXPERIENCE. HOW MANY BOTTLE DID YOU GET TO BUY ON THIS VISIT ? THANK YOU! FOR TAKING ME ALONG ON YOUR ROAD TRIP.
Trent and I both carry full time jobs. The RUclips channel is a passion of ours that we do when time allows. I am a contractor and Trent is a software engineer.
The guy filling the barrels is me! Cool to see. Glad you enjoyed the tour.
Your kidding?? That’s so awesome! Bardstown was absolutely amazing to us!
We have decided, you are that cool uncle that we all wish we had!!
Always happy to oblige lol!
I could claim that, but, at my age, I imagine Kurt would have to settle for older brother or cousin!

Excellent tour and thanks for sharing. It must've felt to you all like a kid in a candy store. The vintage library has some fabulous rare bottles.
Crazy cool bottles in that room!
It's the words of SLB Bardstown Distilleries is Beautiful and its fantastic.
Thanks so much !

Thanks so much for your kind words and checking out our videos even though it’s not your choice!
8:40 looks like he made a really great friend now! Lucky! Steve sure is a Master at what he does.

I’m starting the planning phases of our Bourbon Trail tour for Oct of 23, so this is great info for me. Thanks for sharing.
We loved the library !!
Very genuine comments comments to the master distiller, he was very pleased to hear all of that! Very exciting, I can’t wait to visit Bardstown!
Really an awesome place if you can!
Wow!! Exciting video! Great Valentine's Day surprise(: thanks for the work Kurt and Trent. Stay safe , stay armed, stay free.
Thanks my brother!

Maker's has the coolest property of any of the distilleries I've been to, and a good tour and tasting afterwards.
It's always neat to see the entire process.
I just bought a bottle of Bardstown and suddenly it is my favorite. I rarely spend over $30 but this was worth the step up. I think I will try to always have it on my shelf.
That’s one that I truly feel is worth the upgrade! Glad you liked it!

Hope you love it!
Thank you for taking us along with you.
Just got back from Total Wine getting a few new bottles from your videos. Great episode. Thank you. Mike Atlanta GA
Hope you love them!
This is great. It takes your channel to another level. Very enjoyable. It was hard to hear during your tour of the process area. You might think about adding closed captioning to help.
Yes thank you. This was our first time to film in a commercial area. We learned a lot for next time! Thanks for the advice!
what a great tour. I have a friend that lives right outside of Lexington. We have a trip planned to go see her and she is taking us on all the tours. Didn't know Bardstown has all those bottles...
State of the art that’s for sure if you have a chance to visit.
Great Tour-Thank You!
Thank you!
I can’t wait for their first in house release. I think I am going to take that day off to be there. I love that place.
No doubt! I do to!
This was a well done video. It reminded me of something from Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood.
I love Mr Rogers!
What a great treat for the viewers, let alone you guys!!! That's awesome that you got to visit.
Does this mean you're in Kentucky and are hitting the trail?

Would have been nice lol! We did get to visit Heaven Hill, Evan Williams, Michters, and Barton.
@@slbdrinks Nice. Michters and Bartons are on my to visit lists so I can get my passport stamped.
Great video guys looks like it was a blast.
Great time!
@@slbdrinks I'll bet! The wife and i are planning an OF tour. Hope Trenton is feeling better.

would love to here you and Trent cover the line up of Bardstown
NICE!!! Born and raised about 20 miles from there. Wish I had known. Couple of cool sites nearby.
Next time for sure!

Aww that’s to bad! That whiskey library was simply amazing!
We booked this tour with no knowledge of this company, we were not disappointed.
I can truly understand that. Top notch!
Kurt, enjoyed the video. I would recommend sub-titles be added for the distillery portion as it was hard to understand what everyone was saying. Should be a breeze for Trenton. 😎
Fun! I'd love to see your take on a Rob Roy. cheers
Yum!
We were there Friday afternoon and it was an amazing experience
Good for you! Glad you enjoyed yourself!
One of my absolute favorite places! Cheers 🥃
That looked like an outstanding experience👍🏾👍🏾❤️❤️. Wow, over 43,000 subs, great job guys.
Mind blowing for sure! Very grateful!
What did you pick up for the basement bar on the trip?
A few lol. We did get a Bardstown special release which was neat. A few other odds and ends.
Since you're in Bardstown KY go to James B Beam, in Clermont Bardstown. Would love to see you get a sneak peak of everything we do.
I wish we would have known when we were there! Sorry bout that.
Thanks for sharing. While watching, I was wondering if the mash bill is ever tweaked based on the quality of grain. Different corn varieties have varying starch levels. Do they check that?
They did not mention tweaking any mash bill. That’s a good question though.
I was wondering the same thing. Like when wine makers test the level of sugar in their grapes, do they test the level of sugar in their corn? Or maybe it isn't as important because it is a distilled product.
Great video! Tx for sharing!, ? What were the bottles they were filling on the line? Wasnt shaped like Bardstown normal bottles??
That was Pinhook actually. Bardstown is contracted by Pinhook to bottle their product only.
I would love to hit this tour and i would need a u-haul to bring back all the bottles from that area.
Lol that’s the truth!
Awesome Tour! Thank You so very much for taking us on the trip. I have never been there and it was almost like being there myself. Did they offer an actual tasting at the end of your tour?
Yes they did! She even gave us a taste of an older collaboration from years ago.
Nice video. I thought there could have been a Trenton sighting in the building reflection at the beginning, but nope!
Ha! That would have been funny if you did!
Thank you for sharing this trip. Would it be possible to add captioning to the tour? The industrial noise and echos make it hard to hear.
We learned a lot of lessons on our first on site film. Appreciate your thoughts. Hopefully next time will be much better!
Hi Kirk! I'm curious what they were bottling in the video. Doesn't look like a Bardstown bottle I've seen.
No it is not. They are bottling Pinhook. They do not supply distillate to Pinhook but do contract all of their bottling.
@@slbdrinks That's what I thought that bottle was but then I was confused. Contracting the bottling makes sense. I didn't know that. Thanks for the video!!
Do you recommend a single tour over several distilleries the same day?
A tour itself only takes about an hour and a half. With that being said I think two in a day is very doable. That gives time to browse gift shops etc.
Awesome!!
Stopped by there after Jim Beam and before Heaven Hill. They were an added stop so we didn't have a tour. Was the rudest place in Kentucky. Everywhere else was welcoming and friendly. No one even spoke to use there.
Sorry to hear that.
Was that Pinhook getting bottled?
Yes! They contract the bottling only for Pinhook.
@@slbdrinks We're big fans of Pinhook's rye but haven't found a bourbon we love yet.
Looks like a great time! What were they bottling that day, and what did you bring home? 😀
They were actually bottling Pinhook. They contract the bottling only for Pinhook.
We did get a couple nice bottles on the trip. A nice bottle from Bardstown that only is sold in the gift shop.
Wow I did not know they had so many labels.
What’s better than a Kentucky Wiman ? A smart and attractive Kentucky Woman 😆.
You got it!
Is this distillery the same as Heaven Hills?
"Man"! What an amazing 👏 VIDEO YOU TWO MADE,FOR US TO EXPERIENCE. HOW MANY BOTTLE DID YOU GET TO BUY ON THIS VISIT ? THANK YOU! FOR TAKING ME ALONG ON YOUR ROAD TRIP.
loved the concept and you two are great a bit hard to hear with all the distillery noises
Great trip, bad sound on the first part of the tour. Maybe You should put there subtitles to make US understand every tiny detail.
Lessons learned for sure on our first film on location. Lots better ideas for next time! Thanks for the tips!
😊
❤️
SLB Drinks what was your previous occupation? I’m thinking Engineering ?
Trent and I both carry full time jobs. The RUclips channel is a passion of ours that we do when time allows. I am a contractor and Trent is a software engineer.
Tell us. Did you leave with a Special Bottle?
Trent bought a grey label that can only be purchased at Bardstown pretty cool.
I didn't get my invite... Did any one else's get lost?
What if you could get a master distiller to come to the slb bar an have a chat an do a blind
That would be fun!
The mask looks good on the wrist... She doesn't sound like she's from Kentucky...
I believe she is from Central Illinois. I heard that on ADHD Whiskey.
Correct, she is originally from Illinois.
