I bag a K1 Soft Berg and a Glitch. Love them both, but the Berg gets thrown a lot more often. It's so good on forehand approaches. Give it just a little anhyzer, and it flyes and lands perfectly!
@@njott1021 I went on a Clinic with Josef Berg, and he taught me how to. It has been a great tool for me. Might feel awkward because of the depht of the disc, but try to stack your fingers on the edge of the rim instead of both of them on the inside. A bit hard to explain..
I've been really loving this Series of videos so much. However, there are some numbers on the disc that really do matter. Weight. Would love to See a video on how weight can affect how the flight is.. a feather Weight, a light weight, and max weight. I know Ezra made a video on it, But I feel that you would be better suited to do this video
A lot of myths and weird beliefs floating around with weight as well... So many people think that lighter discs fly further, and well they technically can, but that's because they are just more affected by outside forces. So in a tailwind, a lightweight disc will get "pushed" further by the wind, but on the flip side it would also lose speed faster in a headwind... The lighter weight means the disc will leave your hand with a slightly higher speed compared to a heavier disc, but that heavier disc would also maintain it's speed better. I think the reason why so many people think lighter discs fly further is because maybe throw discs that are in reality a bit outside of their armspeed and when they get a bit more speed and slightly less stability from a lighter weight disc that translates into a better flight.
@@ezdor8877 no? Every record attempt or similar is... Because they throw in the desert with insane tailwinds... My approach putter is a Gamma (glow) Loft Hydrogen. Super straight with just enough fade to be reliable. My background is in ultimate frisbee so the Hydrogen feels really comfortable for standstill approaches with low speed and high spin.
I have a Loft Hydrogen as well as a Pole Cat and Glitch. It is just as straight if not more so. I prefer the Glitch in low and no wind. The Hydrogen in medium to low wind, and the Berg (have that too) in windy conditions. I generally putt with a Xero XT, which is also very straight but not a 1 speed.
I need to get some Loft discs to try out, I thought about picking up some of their kickstarter stuff at wholesale but it wasn't good timing last time they had a new mold.
Having played multiple rounds now with the new MVP Watt, I can definitely say its a very similar disc to the Glitch in a heavier mold. It also feels a little bit more shallow. But, I do struggle to get distance out of it. It serves as my straight approach disc in the 70-150ft range.
@@AndresWeber I was definitely surprised. It started in my bag as a question. Then it moved into the bag for good. Now it sits in one of my putter slots it used so much. It's crazy thar it's moved up this quickly all within a week.
I'm a big glitch fan, especially for the woods. I hit chains this week on a tight woods shot, 154'. What surprises me about the glitch is how torque resistant it is. For me, I just pick and angle and it holds that angle. But on a steep anhyzer around obstacles, it often flattens out before touching down, preventing those nasty cut rolls.
The one thing I will say as an absolute Berg evangelist is that plastic really does matter. I predominantly throw the K3 plastic for my Bergs as they are much straighter than the K1 version (like you threw). I keep a K1 in my bag, but the throw I use the Berg for is straight/hold the line I put it on.
I love the berg and glitch, for varied approaches. Berg drops fast enough it’s reliable for risky approaches, whereas glitch can glide out when I feel a kid is too much, but berg won’t make it. Funnily enough, polecat was my first ever disc, long before I knew about disc golf, I found one buried in the woods at a scout camp over 10 years ago, (no return number). Kept it all these years, even though I hated it because not understanding what it was for, it never flew like my other frisbees, (now I obviously understand why that is). It now sits in my bag, rarely thrown, but one day I’m sure it will shine.
Don't know if you could get your hands on one, but the latitude discs beetle is one of the earlier one speeds that they marketed as a utility disc instead of a putter that you can throw some neat shots with.
What about the Beetle and the Spore? I don't throw either, just curious as to why you left them out. I own a glitch for playing catch but I'm a Berg nerd..... specifically the Eric Oakley Beorg, love it!
Love the Dillo. Good for flip ups and sneaky glide with straight finish. Berg very similar but less glide little more stability. Tried to like the glitch but just couldnt really figure it out
Based on the typical explanation of "you need to throw this disc at the disc speed for proper flight" it's interesting how hard these 1 speeds were getting thrown without compromising the flight. Lord knows I can't get my glitch out 320ft but it flies the same for me.
That is a great point, I didn't really stop and think about that. I was thinking about, when we drew the conclusion that they did actually fly like their flight numbers, that perhaps because of how slow they are, its harder for them to be affected by other factors, but that's just a shot in the dark.
The only 1 speed that I have actually thrown is my friend’s glitch. First tee shot with it I put it closer than 5 other drives (from me and 3 friends) on a ~300ft hole with a pushing hyzer flight
The Glitch is a phenomenal disc. It's great for on the course utility shots, a good first disc to teach someone how to play, and just a fun disc to throw around.
You missed out on the Loft HYDROGEN. It would have suited this comparison well as they advertise it as the straightest flying point and shoot putter on the market.
I have both the Hydrogen and a K1 Berg. Hydrogen does not handle power very well and will quickly flip over, whereas the Berg is very torque resistant. Hydrogen also really feels like a beach frisbee as it's very deep with a thin rim. Personally I don't like deep dish discs, so it doesn't feel good to me. It's been a while since I threw Hydrogen, so I haven't compared the two. Might have to do that 🤔
@@JTBringe yes it is a deep disc, but I have grown attached to mine. It is a little too deep to be my goto putter, but it is my favorite for approaches of 50-100 ft. Definitely have not put the spurs to it to see what it takes to turnover.
I have a 90s Z Puttr that is crazy straight and has less glide than my friends polecat from the same era. Sadly long out of print in that combo but I used to use it all the time.
I took off from disc golf for awhile and bag from "94" a 174 polecat and 148 polecats, I want to retire my 148 (don't want to lose it) and picked up a 145 glitch. I like the feel and flight of the glitch but the dx polecat seems to stick in the chains better. I do like both and will keep the glitch in the bag and get used to it, but I think I'll look for a new light pole cat. I like that I can get polecat to stall and drop.
I have thrown the berg, glitch, polecat, and sonic. Currently the only one still in my bag is the glitch. For me personally, has the best hand feel and most consistent release. Great series! See you at a pop up event soon!
You’re so right. The R2 glitch special releases like the OTB stamp and the Glistch are studier than the electron soft plastic and warp less. But the glow rim scratches easily.
Tried Berg, Glitch and Armadillo. Think the glitch is to touchy for me, the Berg is to prone to rollaways. The Dillo is perfekt for me, regarding 1 speeds, works for both forehand and backhand as well.
Something to test with the Glitch (and maybe Polecat, never tried that) is steep elevation drops. No matter how long the hole is I typically throw the Glitch in those situations cause even when dropping a ton it still drops straight which I've never gotten out of a disc (sooner or later a "normal" disc starts fading and if it's understable it fades forever 😅). Complete game changer for those kinds of holes assuming you need to go straight and there's OB or rough vegetation on the sides.
With the popularity of the Berg, why are Millennium not producing more Hyzerbomb Tanks. At 2 1 0 2, it has all the great approach flight without the weird hand feel.
