All he was doing is just looping about one thing like "it is immoral, it must be abolished!" like a parrot. He could tell so many interesting things about survival in such conditions, his adaptation process, evolution of his mental state and etc... This video is anything but important.
Alex Mash no you don’t understand. He spent 29 years in isolation. Why would you expect anyone who has gone through that to deliver a conversation to the entire internet and expect that what they say will be entirely comprehensible to specifically YOU. I get your point, people who loop are hard to understand, but you must know they don’t have a choice of looping. People who loop, especially after being in isolation like that are going to be permanently damaged, it’s your job to read between the lines.

I’m at 14:56, I have a story that, maybe wasn’t one of my best ideas, but it popped in my head when he speaks on, the mental and physiological effects of being confined. The kids got 2 hamsters, we quickly noticed the hamsters didn’t get along, so we got 2 cages and separated the hamsters. Both hampsters revived the same amount of food, love, attention,toys, and time out of the cage. A few months go by and one hamster starts aggressively biting the bars on his cage. The other hamster seemed to adjust well.as the cage biting became more frequent, I went and got him a bigger cage. Same result but now he is starting to get more aggressive towards me and the kids, and started escaping from the bigger cage. So this goes on and naturally he is getting less attention, less time outta his cage, etc.....so one morning I’m up early getting ready for work running a little late and all the sudden I see a big white flash run across the floor. So already running late a wrangle the first ball up and I didn’t want to put him back in his cage(keeps escaping) so I put him in a 5 gallon bucket until I got home from work. So I get home after making a stop at the pet supply to buy another cage, I get home put everything together go to get the hamster and he had gone completely crazy and started and would not stop viscously attacking ( I know your thinking, it’s a hamster, how viscous could it be?). Guess the point is, if short term solitary confinement is detrimental to a hamster, I couldn’t begin to imagine the months, years, decades of confinement effects on the human brain.
Actually if one speaks to the people running the system, they believe, and have got the public to believe that those convicted with crimes deserve it. Nothing will change.
@@pmfg875 I am aware, But that mentality of nothing will change, you may as well go ahead and check yourself in then. Most people only recognize Big changes, but it’s the small changes you have the ability to create within yourself that starts a ripple effect.

I’d love to hear a moral and ethical debate on the merits of solitary confinement. What is the justification? Is the cost worth the benefit? I understand there may be certain cases where you need a method to punish inmates so what would the alternative be? Should limits on the total amount of time someone stays in solitary confinement?
They can get out if they want to very bad. Stop gang banging, stop assaulting other inmates and the CO's, Stop breaking the rules that keep pushing your levels up. These guys pretty much choose to be where they are.
It's amazing that he's still sane, he didn't lose his mind after all those years
