I absolutely LOVE the resurgence of effectiveness of Bajiquan, Xingyi, to an extent, Mizongyi and Hung gar (+relatives). I have fond memories of these styles because of Jet li and video games.
But I learned about Bajiquan while reading around history books (Stated that Mao Zedong’s bodyguards were feared and practiced Bajiquan)
I can see why Baji is such a great style in those times, the sparring always shows it being really effective. It has the potential to be sort of like a Chinese version of Muay Thai if they made official competitions and rulesets than can bring out the maximum potential of Baji. Great video as always man.

many of the socalled masters have found info they are not able to dig really and so violate the law of the old times, namely to only get informed about the next step when having mastered your ability to be found able to do so.
Filling a guys head with good stuff he does not understand is like overpouring a teacup indef. It just becomes a big mess and never gets finished clea ning up from as the tea keep overflowing the edge of cup - kind of thing.

I would like to see a Muay Thai and Bajiquan fight under open rules with both fighters in equal weight and same level of experience.
    Bajiquan has:
    Joint Locks
    Takedowns/Throws
    Sweeps
    Kicks(Lower body)
    Knee strikes
    Hip Strikes
    Punches
    Hammer Fists
    Open Palm techniques
    Shoulder Strikes
    Muay Thai has:
    Knee strikes
    Elbow Strikes
    Kicks
    Punches and Back Fists
    Sweeps
    Clinch Fighting
    Takedowns/Throws off High Kicks
Both have a reputation for being aggressive styles and both have something to offer.

Open rules as in rumble on the rock / super brawl rules? Everything legal in the UFC plus kicks/knees to heads of downed opponents?

@@yamiyomizuki I actually could have have sworn that they where under Sanda rules if im not mistaken there are no knees or elbows and i think baji guy was older.
I want to see open rules where everything is permitted and the fighters have equal experience and both in there prime i feel as though Baji would have an advantage with its diversity such as its Joint Locks and Takedowns wich i feel could give Baji the element of suprise however Muay Thai may not be quite as Diverse though less is more somtimes and it can focus on what it knows wich may be enough with its clinch fighting and its Knees and Elbows.
Ultimately though it comes down to the flip of a Coin 50/50.
It would ultimately be up to the fighter on an individual level as both have presure testing and Training Methodology is important however if it was all training everyone would be the world champ.
I also want to say some of but not all the Baji guys i feel do need to work on there grapling as some do seem to have a degree of difficulty in the clinch in atleast 2 or 3 fights ive seen of this channel nontheless Bajiquan does proove formidable and has a lot to offer and has a lot of potential.

@@Blake-hs5tr when you say open rules and everything is permitted, what exactly do you mean by that? would that be standard mma rules or would that be like king of the streets literally anything goes? personally I think the best format would probably be lethwei since it allows everything except fighting on the ground, which neither style does anyway. also two things that would give baji an advantage that you didn't mention are headbuts and shoulder strikes, both of which seriously screw with people who want to clinch.

Nice showcase, although a little bit short. But you can really see here what some fighting fundamentals like timing and distance control can do to enhance the efficacy of ones game vastly, be it any striking sport or traditional style.
Would love to see some more stuff from this guys school.

Wonderboy Thompson does that kick as his standard rear kick. He explains on a tutorial that its angle coming up from below is less telegraphed than the style you normally see from TKD and karate, even though he is a karate/kickboxing stylist.

There be three variations of this kick and they boil down to, front kick, side kick, back kick.
Don't do Bajiquan, I just sparred with them, correct me if I'm wrong.

It looked like a spinning back kick. If it looked less telegraphed it was because the jab hid his footwork. His lead foot landed from the jab into a really closed stance which let him spin quicker.

A little history behind Bajiquan, its full name is "Kaimen Bajiquan", which translates roughly to "Open Gate Eight Extremities Boxing". It's also known as the "Bodyguard's Style". Because, as you guessed, many Chinese heads of state wanted their bodyguards to be trained in the art.
Even ole Chairman Mao had bodyguards trained in Baji, which is *deeply* ironic considering he cracked down hard on Martial Arts schools throughout China. Because it's much easier to rule over a population if they have *no idea* how to defend themselves. But, hey if there's one thing Chinese Communists are known for, It's glaring hypocrisy. *cough* Xu Xiaodong *cough*
Anyway, my name is Justin, and I'm your guide to the world of useless Martial Arts facts.

the guy with no protection fights like thais in muay thai.
He estabilsh a solid stance and fundation wherefrom he safely can move and circle around; That gives foundation for more powerfull hits and blows; Without a solid stance, one s game is flimsy like a dancing queen video, that may or may not sometimes make a lucky hit; IN real streetfight there is no such thing.
But his point of gravity of body is held too high and without sufficient control, so he really is not all that comptent, but still , he is on right track, somehow, somewhen....
I once was hit by a thai; His attemt was to make my nose bone go up my brain, but due to a broken nose from earilier, the hit did not distribute power excatly to hit the brain....so therefore im alive today....
