Just to give you guys the characters: 谷 That’s master gǔ‘s surname. 谷师傅, as you would say in Chinese. Master Gu actually did come out with a reflection on his performance, so I will translate it soon. Also, for those of you wondering why Xu didn’t take on the Master himself, Xu needs surgery to fix one of his arms, so Xu cannot really exert too much force right now. In fact, I forgot to translate this, but part of the reason Xu was able to get the Master to show up was he put up some money. He basically told Master Gu: if you can beat a student of mine, you get 100,000 RMB of money. So Xu basically put up the money he was saving for his arm surgery to get the Master to show up.
Also, I have a followup video coming soon. The more I look at both Master Gu's social media, the more I see fascinating content to explain and analyze. Stay tuned!

I use it with common sense. Every martial art has there strength and weakness. That is why we must mix styles together and create our own mma. People mistake mma as specific style but in reality it is a idea of multiple styles, that is why Bruce Lee’s philosophy Jeet Kune do is the father of MMA because it was the first idea of mixing styles

About football players I do think they can make decent fighters though. I played rugby only a couple of trainings and that gave me an edge against my non fighting trained friends. Jon jones even said that he’s lucky his football pro brother never joined the ufc or it would have been over for him. I’m
Not saying there aren’t football players that overestimate their abilities but they have potential imo. There’s a lot of people who overestimate themselves. Have seen footage of soldiers poorly fighting civilians on the street in their day off. False confidence is everywhere. On the other hand potential is everywhere as well. Have seen footage of cricket players fighting really well on the streets in self defense.

I'm a Hung Sing Choy Lee Fut guy, that was already fighting prior to learning kung fu. My father and older brother were black and brown belts in karate. So i grew up on knowing martial arts as early as i can walk. So, when I first joined my teachers school, i knew how to fight and they were shocked because i was in there sparring them on the first day. But, looking like this older guy, you can see he never had a real fight in his life and he's only going on the notion that tai chi works, theoretically. but you can see, this guy has no guard, doesn't know how to move around, not dodging or evading. if you're going to take your martial art into the fighting realms, one, you need to know how to fight first. two, make sure your basic punches, blocks and kicks are up to par. three, SPAR. Spar light, spar heavy, and spar often. This is why i make my own students do and is the reason why we did well on our very first ever match in the Muay Thai community.

I hope more masters explore this. relearn it. this master was brave and dedicated to getting in there and explore and be willing to find out what he doesn't know, what doesn't work. now go back and rethink it. play with it, adjust, and try again.

They should go gloveless, as the gloves give an advantage to the boxer for both blocking, and hand protection; it would likely still go down the same way, but it would show technique vs technique more readily. The self defense version of boxing is bare knuckle, and requires different techniques so you don't break your hands, which happens to a lot of boxers outside of the ring.

It was clear from the beginning that the master realized that an exhibition fight, clearly for no reason other than ego gratification, was not a place to truly unleash his power on a defenseless and foolish young man. Instead he wisely and bravely chose to take a beating himself rather than cause irreparable harm to a weaker man. He also knows that if western people ever saw the true power of internal MA that they would begin demanding to be taught these dangerous techniques and that well, we in the west just aren't ready for it. Once he ate a couple of the Tai Chi Master's best shots and got a knock down against Tai Chi Master he just goes into play mode.
He knows Tai Chi Master can't hurt him and he can get whatever he wants.
His hands go down, chin in the air and just swinging freely (still nice footwork and head movement).
The clinches where his hands are at his side throwing wild hooks to the body would be punished by an instant uppercut or hook to the head by any 1st year boxing student, but he knows he's got nothing to fear.
The Tai Chi Master had good instincts to clinch each time he was getting lit up.

I have heard it said that boxing styles vary from one country to another I remember tyson was going to fight one of the English champions of the day and tyson commented harshly as a fighter would as he's readying for his match that the English style was inferior or far old school as it compared to his style.. In this case I would say that this boxer could easily avoid that long guard with upper body movement while striking to the body and above in combinations that long guard should be of no consequence / oh and tyson did win the fight mentioned / Credit to anyone with training who is willing to professionally test their skills not every master is great just like not every fighter is great, and even that said sometimes luck is a factor aka murphy's law in this video case the boxer out matched the tai chi guy // Tyson vs Paul IF there are no behind the scenes agreements tyson could ko paul in round 1 if he's not running fast enough!! @@07bently Yes during the first few yrs of training in anything you are only as good as your trainer.. If your trainer doesn't believe in jabs you will have a weakness with jabs,. In boxing I have seen work outs in which one guy wasn't allowed to use his hands he could only use upper body movement to avoid punches, so if a trainer never teaches this that person will get hit allot. This applies to anything in any style.. / I was asked in the past if I was a trainer, no I am not I have taken lessons for a few yrs in boxing and 3 MA not ground fighting however.

Why do we always call these masters? Are they actual masters or claim they are or are they just experienced Tai Chi practitioners?
Tai chi guy was gassed out so quickly and loses balance so much.

@@aura-pprenti2301 I agree. The video titles and even the commentator seem to always use this descriptive which amplifies their actual abilities. It should be "Tai Chi guy walks into Zu Xiaodong's gym..."
Calling them masters is click bait.

While the outcome was what we expected, I'll say that the taichi master did better than I thought he would. It still appeared that he didn't have much experience fighting/sparring. If he did, it looks like it was only with those within his own school/style.
Shoutouts to XuXiaodong for being diplomatic about the whole thing. Still got his point across and the gifts were a nice gesture.

I predict Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul will be a less conclusive fight than expected. A couple big conditions not being talked about much: the fight will be only 8 two-minute rounds; and they will be using big ol' 14 oz. gloves.

It's a freakshow fight and there's now way to predict it, which is the entire appeal. 2 minute rounds favor Tyson and 14oz gloves favor Paul. Tyson is obviously juiced to the gills. It's basically a fight between Paul and how much Tyson's reflexes and stamina have decayed(enormously) at age 57. Paul is basically fighting a name. The guy he's actually fighting doesn't have anything to do with the boxer Mike Tyson from 1986. I'm going to say 95% chance Paul wins a boring decision with a 5% chance Mike knocks him out in round 1 or two, with a 65% chance that I'm totally wrong. I don't think Paul will actually try to KO Tyson. People don't give Paul enough credit. Strip away his obnoxious personality and he's a green, cruiserweight prospect, which I think is still enough to beat an ancient Tyson. The quality of Paul's opponents are better than what most 10 fight boxers have faced.
