I do not believe that is rare to se a thai boxer lost in a fight against Sanda, there is actually a lot of videos out here on youtube, make sure to watch the early 2000 fight challenge between those Rivals, there is also challenges between Sanda and karate koshinkai, i remember one of the raison that made me chose Sanda was those challenges, i my self made many other styles suffering while sparring...it depends also on the athletes abilities to define its own style.
Strongly recommend you to watch Lui hailong, you are going to admire his style.

finally you get to showcase Sanda. Sanda guy was technically much better and smarter than the Muah Thai guy. Even though he was gassed out early, he was able to pick and chose when he engaged and controlled distance very well. Stayed clear of mid range where the MT guy wouldve been strongest. Neutralised MT guy in close up with knees and throws and controlled the long range with his fast side kicks. ..and was able to bridge long and close up by intercepting MT guy as he opened up with punch. Very smart fighter.

muay thai is only perfect if it's kicking+tanking, and opponent is in a pain contest with you. An opponent who prioritizes manoeuvrability, angles, footwork, spacing/distance immediatley spells trouble for muay thai. In modern day, the only hope muay thai guy has against them is that they didn't train/condition properly (lucky that many modern fighters actually aren't conditioned). In terms of striking, combine movement+angles with high level punching (e.g., boxing), and it also overwhelms muay thai kicks (a muay thai guy went from pro boxing back to muay thai and did that and became champ easily, kicks are too slow and easy to step away from, then close distance and let hands rip from all angles). the sanda guy here didn't have the punches, so he just used the 2nd option which is throws/trips. again messes up muay thai easily.
muay thai kicking only works if your opponent can't take the hits and tries to fight you by charging straight forward. or it works if the opponent can't even take a few hits. but if the opponent is conditioned and uses the above fighting style/method, it's easy advantage against muay thai style.
the reason muay thai looked really tough modern day is because most modern fighters debut with fragile bodies and they can't even tank a few kicks.

They can keep their head out of trouble, eat something to the body, but will finish the throw and hopefully end up on score and fight momentum. 2:07 to catch that in a live fight first attempt, sanda guy is legit (but punching needs work). assuming you're conditioned to take the kicks, step 1 to counter MT is angles/footwork, then it's slipping/backstepping into throws or counter punches.
still the old school sanda guys throw much more ferocious punches and knees, and they can tank hits better. muay thai guy would've been in huge trouble against a good agile boxer who can defend kicks too.
muay thai wants them to stand and stalk like a tank. only works if the opponent tries to push them back at their own game.
as a fighting art, muay thai style is pretty 1 dimensional. their effectiveness in modern times is mainly because modern fighters are weak and fragile. however, even a fragile fighter in modern times can use footwork, angles, punches/throws to overwhelm them (punches assuming they can land and transfer the power of each punch properly).

This is just a 1 match that results depends on many things such as fighter skill or rule, but one thing in this match is elbow was prohibited, can you tell me why Muay Thai fighter can't use elbow? so, you should say this is non elbow Muay Thai vs Sanda who can use Muay Thai knee. 😅

@Speedofdark339 No one is salty. It's just the truth.
While I am on the subject and speaking with an obvious Chinese BullShiDo lover , I have something else to say :
Notice Chinese dressed up as Japanese and pretending / trying to fool people into thinking they really are Japanese.
This will only fool the ignorant and uninformed, and never anyone who knows anything about Japan at all !!!
I know much about Japan, Hong Kong, And The Mainland ; so I notice this bs when I see it.
      • btw I obviously love China and Chinese culture.
●[ In case my username didn't give it away to you. ]●
      • However, even though I love china , I will never support the bs that comes out of China!¡!
•Each and every single traditional Chinese martial art is a complete joke, and everyone knows it !
•We even have guys like *"The Mad Dog Xu XiaoDong"* who are out wrecking TCMA "practitioner's."
China has seriously lost so much face over the TCMA - BullShiDo kerfuffle ; that they seriously started playing dress up in karate uniforms, [ Gi's ] and Hakama !¡!
      • They Are Trying to decieve people into thinking that the Japanese have those BS "No Touch Masters" like they do.
★ It is absolutely pitiful, shameful, & Disgusting that they would try to do such a thing !¡!
☆ Other Times They ♠︎Pretend♠︎ their no touch "masters" are dominating karate, judo, jujitsu, etc. Japanese practitioner's... meanwhile they are really Mr. Wáng, Mr. Lì, & Mr.Chén !¡!
[ ♠︎ is to be read as DECIEVE ]
★ IDK why they do this because they ; In An Attempt To Save Face, are losing even more face then they already had !¡!
[ To those who are Knowledgable about Either country ]
*I can only assume that it is propaganda for the uninformed foreigner who knows nothing about either country, or possibly footage to assist in scamming of their own people !¡!*
★ Sadly however, they are making their country a pitiful joke to their Japanese, South Korean, Vietnam, ETC. Neighbour's.
☆ *EVEN WORSE* is they are making it a joke to huge fans & Lovera of China like myself !¡!
      *!¡! ¡!¡ !¡! AaaaaIiiiiiiiiiiiiiìiìi How Sad !¡! ¡!¡ !¡!*

What is wrong with this muay thai guy. Just attack him already. One two hit, then stop. Waste time chasing sanda guy. He doesnt have pacific skill to use. He does a good heavy punch, then stop never use it again. He does a good heavy kick, then stop. Then he just waste time chasing. So frustrating to watch. Most of the muay thai fighter, that chase. That is your moment to attack. Leave them with zero opening. All this guy do is walk and walk. Doesnt use the training hours of kick and punching. Doesnt do combo punch or combo kick. He got a good hit in so many time, but just stop in the middle. Am like, WHY?. Then it came to me, he might be in the mind set. Of old traditional muay thai ring mind set. Kind of his own fault for not prepare for this.
