I've got some crocs which i slip on if i need to be outside for a bit. Owned them for years now and they are still going strong. So i agree with you. It's a shame the didn't make it on the list.
Best boots I ever had-Wolverine model 3366-6 inch unlined boots.. I was a meter reader for 19 years.. on an average day, I was walking 5 to 6 hours, on concrete, sidewalks, on grass, on dirt.. I never wore the soles out on a pair of these boots.. not even close.. these boots would last me about 2 to 3 years of the non-winter months use here in Western Pennsylvania.. The thing that made the boots feel was the wet/dry cycle that they experienced pretty much every day walking in the grass in the morning covered with dew.. I would drive the boots every night with a small equipment, 3 inch fan blowing into the boots, regular cold air, they would be dry the next day, but it over time they got brittle, and another was separate from the soul right at the widest part by cracking.. There is not a product on the face of the Earth I can waterproof leather -nothing.. I’ve tried needs foot oil, mink oil,Many different leather oils, saddle soap.. I’ve tried silicone liquid, silicone spray, silicone paste I’ve tried snow seal applied with a hairdryer to melt the wax in, I’ve tried everything.. Even my winter boots that were supposedly waterproof by Gore-Tex lining, it works for a couple months, but eventually you were walking motion, stretches the Gore-Tex, sock and pumps, air out and absorbs water through the lining. There is no such thing as waterproof, except for rubber. But dad has its own problem because your perspiration collection inside the rubber boot because it can’t breathe, and that’s almost as bad as the leather, not being waterproof… that being said, that is the only thing that made my model 3368 wolverine, 6 inch unlined boots fail, was that the leather got dried out from the wet/dry cycle every day.. when you’re walking on hard surfaces and concrete, and on your feet for more than six or seven hours a day, you need a stiff sole.. Wolverine has stopped making this model of boot somewhere in the 1990s, I suspect because they last a lifetime and they don’t have repeat customers because they don’t need new boots every couple years.. I was lucky enough to find a new old stock pair of this 3368 boots my size on eBay. I bought them, and I will have them probably for the rest of my life. They are absolutely the best boots I have ever owned. On the flipside of that, there are boots that I bought when I was a meter reader, one brand was gorilla .. brand… I bought those Corolla brand boots because my Wolverines were just about done and these looks like exact copies of the wolverine 3368. I am not kidding, those boots started falling apart after the second day of meter reading duty. Of course I took them back… I did have a pair of winter boots that were the closest thing I ever had to waterproof, timberland elk hide 10 inch winter boots. They were a dark, dark, brown, almost purpleish brown elk hide. They were extremely expensive. I only wore them on days when it was snowing. I got 12 years out of those boots. The instructions from the factory , use only silicone or liquid on the boots, which I did.. my feet did not get wet from snow, because the snow was not melting and wicking into the boot in the cold weather, my feet were getting wet from condensing perspiration, and after 12 years, the leather buckskin tan lining rotted from the acids in my perspiration.. I cannot find the boots for that. I should have been rinsing them out with a solution of warm water and some thing like half teaspoon of baking soda to neutralize the acids that collected in the boots overtime at least once a year… Those boots were advertised as waterproof, but like I said your feet, don’t get wet in the winter walking in the snow, my feet were generally totally wet after about 20 minutes of walking on beautiful sunny days from the dew on the grass.. those Timberland elk hide boots also disappeared from the market back in the 1990s when they started making boots overseas instead of in New England USA..
Yeah I second this. There’s a few Swiss brands that are astonishingly expensive but I have nobidea if they’re worth it. Apparently there’s some where the first inch from the toe can carry your entire weight as they partly have mountaineering in mind, etc.
Gonna comment this again: I'd love to see you cut in half some military boots. My favorite one to purchase is the Corcoran Marauder - steel toe. I get excellent wear out of them and I'd love to see what's inside.
I love my Bates USMC boots, wore the same pair for years throughout bootcamp and other training and never got a single blister or ankle injury, they held up very well.
You are not wrong about the Sagara. I just received my MTO cordmaster and been blown away by the build quality and every single detail. I own many well respected boots (Alden, Tricker's.....etc) and can honestly say the Sagara are up there with the very best. I wasn't expecting them to be the beast of the boots. I'm now sold on Sagara and will definitely get another pair
OK, a LITTLE disappointed Jim Green didn't win "Best Value." Be that as it may, I'm forever grateful for introducing me to Jim Greens. I now own three different pair because their wide toe box is a godsend to my wide feet. Thanks for what you do and keep up the good work!
Discovered this channel about a month ago looking for boots, and was introduced to Jim Green. My “African Rangers” showed up today! They look and feel solid. I was a little nervous about how that wide toe box would look but I am happy! Great channel! Originally was looking at the vellie’s but the Ranger caught my eye!
I worked for a warehouse where we had a $200 per year paid boot budget. Had to be steel-toed. And I bought Wolverines both times. Don't remember what happened to the first pair. But the second pair I got were really great and I loved them they were so comfortable. However after a period of time where I didn't wear them for a while, I took them on a vacation to the snow and the soles disintegrated. I wish I had gotten them resoled. I foolishly threw them away. The uppers were fine and they probably would still be great boots. C'est la vie.
Would LOVE to see you dive into some of the Mexico made-to-order boots (Tecovas, Unmarked, Miles & Louie, etc.) They appear to be great quality, stylish, and Mexico has a long heritage of quality leather working tradition/shoe making.
Check out Fenoglio. They are hand made in Texas and reasonably priced. Comparable to Tecovas in pricing . Also offer exotic materials and custom boot for relatively cheap. Originally owned by the sister of the guy who started Justin boots. Id say they are your best option aside from a small mom and pop shop that does full custom fitting and boot making.
I honestly never would have guessed that I enjoy watching boots/shoes get cut up as much as I do..... but here we are. This is a shoe/boot lovers dream channel. To get to actually see what work/materials are used and the quality is so valuable! Whenever I buy another pair of boots, I will definitely be checking them out here before I ever try them on. My favorite boots are my Wilcox Fairfax, that are now 7 years old and still in great shape! These are the nicest I have ever owned so I don't have too many comparisons. Previously it was a pair of Ahnu Montara (that lasted 3.5 years), but they are almost more like high top shoes than boots. SO comfortable though! I used to really like "jump" boots, with the zipper up the side (would make a cool episode!). Had a couple of pairs of Doc Martens (before they moved manufacturing to China), they were okay, mostly wanted them for the look. But the soles sometimes crack and will let water seep in from the ground.
My favorite pair of boots this year are a pair of double stitch steel toe Doc Martens I found in a second hand shop in North London. Made back in 1988 when they were still made in England, they were sold as used boots but had been worn so little the rubber soles still had all the pilly bits still on them! They had clearly sat on a shelf for thirty years and the leather was so stiff you could probably bludgeon someone to death with them. Used your mink oil method and they could have been made yesterday, absolutely fantastic daily driver boot and the steel toe means I get away with wearing them at work.
@@cacon1239 I watched a documentary on the BBC filmed at the factory in England the same week my daughter got her first Doc Martens. A pure coincidence, but cool nonetheless.
I would like to see a comparison of men's vs women's boots and shoes. I tend to wear men's shoes because they are more comfortable and last longer than women's shoes. I'd be interested in seeing if that trend goes into the boot realm and how much you'd need to spend to have the same quality as men's boots of the same style
Just got my Jim Green African Rangers that I ordered in Dec. Out of the box these are awesome looking and comfortable. Only been wearing for the last 30 minutes but really liking these. Might be my new favorite. Had not heard of JG's before I saw this channel so thank you for introducing me to them. These are a new model with no reviews so I took a chance but glad I did.
Bought two pairs of Redbacks because of this channel. Love them as daily wear. Also been lucky enough to get a pair of Crown Northampton Uptons in grey kudu suede. Visited the factory to get the right sizing. Fantastic service and so friendly. Believe mine are a one off pair (as far).
I've into boots for about 4 or 5 months. During that time, I've picked up 4 different styles of Allen Edmonds which are fantastic, but my favorites are my black Grant Stone Brass boots. They are built for the apocalypse.
I came to this channel to find the most durable boot I can find as I destroy them inside of a year and I'm the kind of person that does not take off my boots till I got to bed. So I'm happy to hear about the nicks brand boot being among the top in that category. Thanks man love your work
I have only had a few pair of decent boots, but I just got my Nick's rangers this week (that I ordered after watching your review of the builder pros) and they are amazing. I'm absolutely blown away at the construction, and plan to wear them for what seems likely to be decades. For any who may be curious, I sized using Nick's printable guide, they fit perfect, and 24 hours of wearing into the break in process, they have been great.
So I do landscaping down under and have over the last 20 years have worn so many different work boots and shoes. Due to a pain in my left foot on the left side if my foot have been hunting for a good pair of shore. This is how I came across your channel I have subscribed and luv the work you do so keep up the good work. So after looking around and trying on countless amount of shoes and boots, I decided to look at hiking shoes and settled on Merrell Accentor mid vent. Worn them for the last 3 days the pain has gone so this is a break through as the pain has been there for months. I've had it massaged even taken pain kills and anti-inflammatory's that have not helped, so hope you have time to test these boots out I bought 2 pair's and 2 other types of their shoe that's how happy with them I am.
Got a pair of Nicks builder pro (chocolate roughout and walnut smooth upper) for work after seeing your channel (was wearing red wing before) and they are the best thing i have ever bought.
Honestly until recently I didn't know sh.t about boots or shoes, never been interested in this topic as such, don't even know why youtube showed me ur channel, but now I love ur videos! And now I know some basic stuff. I'm aware how important is what kind of shoes I wear, not just for the looks, but also for my health. Cool to see what shoes look like from inside, and which are fake or not, especially the price. So, well done, nice to see some useful content on youtube once in a while.
I never thought I'd enjoy a channel about a guy cutting shoes in half, but here I am. People doing stuff like this is absolutely amazing to me, and I get to learn things as well which is nice. Looking forward to what's to come ^^
I filmed a documentary about Brian the boot maker several years ago and I did not really think very much about it at the time. I actually owned an industrial sewing machine and an awl at that time and was building sewed goods as a side hobby along with my film work. But all this time later it's crazy to hear him mentioned on this channel and I honestly now realize that part of this love for boots I have was started there when I worked on that. And also from channels like this and stridewise too. Thank you so much.
Role club underdogs definitely a boot on my wishlist. Brian's work is amazing and the pride he shows in it is inspiring. Surprised that the Georgia heritage boots didn't get mentioned under the best budget.
This winter in Canada I bought Palladium boots. They are awesome: stylish, light, comfortable, warm, very good price (lower than the rest of brand boots you usually find here), waterproof+. They are from France Lyon, roots from the French legion. They have become my favorite boots.
Still rocking my Redback boots thanks to this channel, 4 months of daily wear and I love them. Waiting on a pair of Urban Drifters... I can't wait for my first pair of Nick's.
My favorite boot is Mechanix Wear which is no longer made. I haven't been able to find anything equivalent. It's made from mostly synthetic materials, very comfortable, and breaths well in the heat.
I’ve been wearing a pair of Allen Edmonds Higgins Mill boots with the lug sole and have fell in love with them. I’ve worn them almost everyday at work this winter and they’re by far the most comfortable boots I own.
I love he loves boots so much!I can see why ,it's like women with shoes,I love boots and nice footwear myself,I'm glad he has this channel available for anyone to see,I can't see this channel doing anything but growing!Best Wishes Rose Anvil!
My favorite boot is the Nick's Officer Boot. It cradles my foot well and looks sharp. I also like my White's Line Scout boots. However, the tongue on the White's does not lend itself as well to folding like the Nick's boot does.
See the Project Farm boot testing, I walked up and down landslides in Eastern Kentucky for my job, and also found the Keen brand the best for ankle support, and Skechers the best for normal walking around on flat pavement.
Love my Lems Boulder Boots! I came across them in a store and by dumb luck they only size they had left was my size - and when I put them on I was blown away! They are like slippers and boots put together! So comfy. 👍🏻
I was interested to hear you were a former fire fighter. I’m a former forester with the state of Missouri, and when several of us in the Ozarks started wearing White’s Smoke Jumpers I think almost everyone in the field in forestry division got a pair. (I don’t know what they wear now, but if they aren’t White’s, they don’t know what boots are.) The Smoke Jumper was the finest shoe I ever wore!
I'm still trying to break in my Nick's BuilderPro boots, currently at about 50-60 hours, and so far I love them. They are a little hard to get on and off with the size and shape of my feet but that is becoming a little easier as the leather wears in and stretches.
I've got about the same amount of hours in my Perry's from whites and they're just getting to the point where it's almost a sad moment when I have to take them off because of how comfy they've gotten.
John Doe Shoes makes a gorgeous wholecut boot you can customize in an absurd array of leathers. Turnaround is slow, customer service response is slow, there's a lot of inconsistency, but you get a one of a kind boot.
I love my rock rooster slip on boots. I work at a fire department and they hold up great for any training or grunt work we’re doing, the rubberized toe cap really holds up, and running a lot of ems calls they’re super comfortable. The first pair I ordered had an issue with the lip of the heel cap folding over and causing chaffing, so they just sent me a free pair to make up for it and I’ve had no issues since
Surprised Belleville didn't make the "cut", very good boots. My absolute favorite boots of all time though are vintage 90's Cocoran/Matterhorn 195x. Thinsulate, Goretex, vented panels, Vibram soles, quick lace d-rings on uppers, milspec sizes to fit every foot. Each pair I've owned has literally lasted me a decade with a few resoles and regular care. Three pairs in 30 years. So good, they don't make 'em anymore, LOL! Belleville is my most recent addition and imo, every bit as good as the old Matterhorns. Not quite as stylish, but much easier to find =)
I agree about the Bellevilles. Very good quality and comfort although I need orthotic insoles for full support (very high arches). No, they can’t be resoled but they take a pretty severe beating and are durable. They’re also quiet, I wear them on hikes when I am out doing wildlife photography and they are noticeably quieter than other types of boots I’ve seen people wear on the trails.
I had to get some flight deck boots in the Navy and just randomly picked Belleville from the list of approved ones. Honestly a great pair, I've been beating the hell out of them for a few years now, still going strong
I love my Lems, but they are essentially high-top slippers. I do shop-work in them, but on sites I fear a nail in the foot and they are hell on a ladder. That being said, the agility you have wearing Lems is nice. After wearing Lems you notice how much inertia a heavy work boot instills. You are constantly fighting a heavy work boot. Once it gets moving, it doesn't want to stop. Lems, however, go where you want them to go with very little effort. Just watch out where you step.
I've had 5 different pair of Danner Boots for hunting, hiking and work. They have all been exceptionally well for there purpose. Best time to buy is around Father's day and Thanksgiving when they go on sale.
I love the spread that this review covered; from not so well-known Indonesian made boots - like benzein- to the heavy hitter brands of the Pacific Northwest (add another tally to the White’s column for me). Thanks for providing the great reviews and opinions about all of the fantastic boot brands 👍🏼. Keep it up!!!
Role clubs are hands down the best boots I’ve ever worn. I got them as a gift a year ago for finishing school and trust me when I say details are never missed
Nicks Falcon boot for me. I got your Nicks colab boot and they really opened my eyes to pacific nw boots. That or a Viberg because I'm Canadian. Both look amazing in my eyes.
Hands down my favorite boots are an old pair of Finnish jackboots that I reconditioned. They have hiked tons of miles with me and backpacked as well, up mountains. For some freaked up reason they are just amazing.....with just leather insoles as well. Other than the fact that I am almost 100% flat footed (just found that out at 44 years) I have no explanation.
After wearing 5.11 or Danner uniform “patrol” boots for about 20 years, I got a pair of boots from Wilcox Boots that don’t scream “I’m a cop”. I love my Kerns (brown w/ white sole), and would like to get a pair of either Shiloh or Fairfax in black.
I've really been loving the Redwing Burnside. I'm a daily motorcycle rider and found that they are very practical for what I need here in Florida. I also use the Timberland Pro, and Irish Setter Ely throughout the week.
Love my Lems that I had for years. I use it as my winter boots. 11:55 a great advice someone gave me, that have helped me tremendously, is to always remove the insole before use. By that I mean the loose sole which in this cut apart looks white. In my Lems it’s a night and day experience for me with or without the insole. While the insole feels soft and comfy, it disable sensory input the feet needs to provide the brain with. So with the insole in the shoe, for me after some use I can start experimenting headache, neck problems or sore hip, due to when I’m not walking correctly what should hurt my feet will instead build up and hurt my body in other places. Without the fluffy and comfy insole, if I walk incorrectly it’s going to hurt instantly in my feet which reminds my instantly to correct my stride. As I use this as my winterboot in nordic winters I add in a loose wool insole when it’s at its coldest. This work better then the insole the manufacturer delivers the boot with as it’s felted to be compact rather then being fluffy. If you are like me and have relatively narrow feet, this boots work really well in cold dry winters. As the boot is so soft and light you tie the shostrings ones and just slide your feet on and out of them, as the boot is so soft it follows your feet when if you don’t time them on tightly. It also make the wide and loose enough for wool insoles and thick wool socks.
Would love to see a video of you cutting in half some redwing work boots. More specifically the dynaforce line. It’s what I wear for work. Would be really interesting to see what’s inside. Love your vids dude!
I hate 8 inch boots, Im a bit tall and they are akward, 14 eyes, even maybe 20 eyes would be cool to see, as there arent many good companies that do them.
When I was riding, the Hathorn packer was a great bang for the buck boot. When doing ground work, it was the redwing 402. The Vasquez sundowner of the 80's was my go to hiker, with oboz being my current one, though I dream of a pair of Russell moccasin boots. Now that I have a little money, I have some nicer boots that I really enjoy, but those first 3 will always be special.
Thanks to this channel started my little boot collection (red wing IR and whites perry) really cool to see your preference on boots and got some ideas to add this year hopefully 🤞🏼
One important point, you need outdoor and indoor boots ( even concrete like surfaces, irregular multiple terrain) It can be the difference between slipping and cracking your head
If you go with a reputable boot company, like redwing for example, there is no difference in quality in same model boots. The difference is only in foot shape.
My pair before last was was red wing and I loved them. Wore them through high school and half way through college before too many comments saying how destroyed they were convinced (bullied) me into getting rid of them.
Got a few months on my “nicks/rose” colab boots and really love the look. Most expensive footwear I’ve ever bought. I do IT work so I don’t need sturdy foot ware like this. The heft is like having ankle weights on. As they break in I’m starting to not take them off immediately when I return through the front door. Feel like the boot has some how helped with my knee issues which seems counter productive for something so heavy.
Had a pair of Red Wing 998, made in USA back in 12/2010, since early 2011… still have original Vibram sole! Plenty of annual Obenhauf’s later and they are still a good boot. Variety of insoles over the years.
I got a pair of alden snuff suede moc toes a couple years ago and they are the absolute most comfortable footwear I have ever owned. I've walked up volcanoes etc in them (not recommended lol) and they've cleaned them up and taken care of me when I wrecked them too. The only thing I want is a full-grain roughout, so I can actually abuse them without feeling bad, and they make one, so that's probably next.
i know im really biased because im from the area, but i love timbs. there have been some awesome collabs coming from them that include stuff like vibram lug soles and a goodyear welt. ive yet to find one of them in my size and price range but theyre really nice and i like that theyre leaning towards more eco friendly practices. the rebotl ones are really unique looking and a nice way to reuse some of what would have otherwise ended up in a landfill or the ocean. most of my rotation is white leather sneakers though so i dont get to wear them as much as i would like to
Bought the Crown Northampton Overstone Derby and absolutely love the look and quality. Took less than a week to break them in and now they're the most comfortable sneaker and quickly approaching the comfort of my Allen Edmonds which I've worn for 2 years and are molded to my foot by now.
The Wolverine/Rawlings collab is amazing -- too bad I'm finding out far too late about it. Says they're made from the same leather Rawlings uses for their Heart of the Hide series gloves - which are what many players in the MLB head out onto the field with. They're also individually numbered...makes the collector and baseball lover in me salivate!
Sagara and other Indonesian boot-makers are indeed best value, high quality with lots of customization options, at fraction of cost compared to most other boot-makers...
I was wondering if you still wear the Redback? Since it was last years favorito! Having bought mine about two months ago im loving them so far. I did upgrade to the leather insole they sell because of the personal footprint like I've seen in the 1000 mile series. I've never been so excited about boots until I started watching. Thank you!
My recommendation is Murtagh Boots in Tasmania. Charlie, who has over 50 years in the footwear industry, makes both dress boots and riding boots from premium leather. All are hand made and machined.
I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on the redbacks you had them as your go to boot last year and I’m curious what changed? Is it just you wanted to choose boots after that video or is it not good after 2 years?
I just got a new pair of thursday boots and I’m really loving them. The problem is I don’t know how to properly clean them when the time comes. Could you possibly make a video on how to take care of leather boots?
If you could do the Thursdays womens reble boots I'd be so happy. Already got nice Carolina workbooks thanks to you but would love to see if the women's casual boots are still quality material 👌
I saw that you were considering cutting those Nike Dunks apart. Have you ever considered cutting apart a proper designer shoe like a Rick Owens Ramones sneaker or something? They're extremely popular right now and they're made in Italy. They have an infamous cult following too. I feel like Dunks are kind of predictable now that you've cut the AJ1s apart lol
Do you know how important your channel is....if there was only a guy like you for every product out there. I appreciate what you do so much. It's something everyone should know, everyone. Please, stay cool. JSTN from Chicago
I’m in the north east and red wing is a big deal. That’s the only name brand that I’ve heard when I was in the construction industry as being top-notch. I finally got my first pair of red wings, they are the dynaforce with the steel toe. They are the highest premium work boots that I’ve ever had. After watching you cut a few boots in half, I am dying to try out a few more. It’s just they are so expensive.
Once you wear out your Redwings, try Redbacks! Aussie company. Just got some for my husband (also in construction) and he's over the moon in love with them. Hoping they last long than his Redwings.
my favourite boots are really obnoxious pair of docs with glow in the dark skeleton print one them in toxic green with the green soles, theyre not the ones i wear most often or for work but for just running around styling theyre right up my alley.
Nice episode! My dream boots are a pair of single-piece, chromium-tanned leather, handmade hiking boots from Peter Limmer & Sons in New Hampshire. There is currently a 2~3 year "backlog" with a $100 non-refundable deposit required. They don't list the prices on the order page but I understand they demand around $750 depending on your specifications. You can also buy "off-the-rack" Limmer boots, which are made in Germany, for $450~$550. Men's and Women's sizes are available My Brother still has a pair he had made back in the 60s and back then they made wooden lasts of your feet. I don't know what they do these days (probably computers are involved). They are still in great shape (at least the uppers are).
Hey it'd be cool to see you review and cut in half the Keen Cincinnati moc toe boots. I have a pair and have been really comfortable and wearing well so far.
I never see Viberg in your top boots yet I’ve had most of the boots in this list and Viberg 310 last with horsebutt is the toughest boot I’ve ever had. They wipe the floor with any of those boots you have listed.
Watching the best boot video from 2021, and then this one back to back...I notice weight loss and all in you and just hope that your health is okay and you're treating yourself alright.
i can tell you this, even though it may be hard to believe. the shoes i wear the most are my three pairs of florsheim zip up boot. in principle i prefer my allen edmonds because of the all natural materials, but i'm a big guy who just needs to have a shank in the worst way. what's funny is that when i was a kid long ago in NYC, if you wanted a pair of shoes in my neighborhood, you'd go to florsheim (or "floorchimes" as they were known where i lived). and today , after a long journey through many higher quality shoes, i'm back where i began at florsheim. granted, they are not considered high quality by anyone, but they work well for me and i'm not going to argue that they aren't worthy of my feet.
I bought a pair of Polo Ralph Lauren Suede Army boot. It wasn't until I got the boot did I realize that the 270 welt is fake. Along with the realization that the insole is foam and paper fiberboard. The reason they are my favorite boot is because I cut all the branding off the boot and replaced the insole. I Love the shape of these boots. I just wish I can find a High Quality Heritage Boot thats built off the Munson last.
Hey, just like you never thought your job would be cutting boots apart, I never thought I’d spend hours watching boots get cut apart. So first, thanks. You vids are helpful cause there seems to be a lot of marketing shenanigans and it’s hard to weed out the snake oil out there. Maybe in the future you could do a hunting boot analysis ie kenetrex, crispi, asolo, and lowa? Thanks again.
You should do a pair of boots from Canada west. They're really big in Canada and they make work boots, cowboy boots, biker boots and some shoes. I've heard people compare them to redwing. It would be interesting to see how they compare.

Sadly the Croc boots didn't make the dream list.
I watch a Bonsai Zone episode and later tonight I start this video and there is Nigel commenting!! :-)
I've got some crocs which i slip on if i need to be outside for a bit. Owned them for years now and they are still going strong. So i agree with you. It's a shame the didn't make it on the list.
Next year for sure!
“Nice pair of Crocs!”
-Said no man ever.
@@apilkey You gotta polish them up with some tire cleaner to get compliments on your Crocs!!
But dad has its own problem because your perspiration collection inside the rubber boot because it can’t breathe, and that’s almost as bad as the leather, not being waterproof…
that being said, that is the only thing that made my model 3368 wolverine, 6 inch unlined boots fail, was that the leather got dried out from the wet/dry cycle every day..
when you’re walking on hard surfaces and concrete, and on your feet for more than six or seven hours a day, you need a stiff sole..
Of course I took them back…
I did have a pair of winter boots that were the closest thing I ever had to waterproof, timberland elk hide 10 inch winter boots.
Perhaps a hiking boot series would be cool. Vasque, Zamberlin, Merrill, Lowa, Scarpa etc etc.
Yeah I second this. There’s a few Swiss brands that are astonishingly expensive but I have nobidea if they’re worth it. Apparently there’s some where the first inch from the toe can carry your entire weight as they partly have mountaineering in mind, etc.
Danner
+1 for Lowa. They are amazing
I would throw Crispi in there too
That would mean Acknowledging the existence of Europe 🤔😏.
Your cat just wanting to feel involved is a necessary and fantastic part of your videos. Love the content!
Gonna comment this again: I'd love to see you cut in half some military boots. My favorite one to purchase is the Corcoran Marauder - steel toe. I get excellent wear out of them and I'd love to see what's inside.
You should cut an old pair after you wear them out!
I'd send in a pair of old mechanic boots! I scraped the leather off the steel toe so they were out of regs
Hated the way the heels on those wear out...but love that they are one of the few Uniform authorized boots that can resoled
My favorite were the Jungle boot with the Panama sole.
I think they won best value last year
Yeah they won last year. They didn't cut them open this year.
Hi did say they were best boots of the previous year, so no need to repeat
Maybe because the price of them shot up?
Tecovas is direct-to-customer, but it’s off-the-shelf only and not MTO.
What about those absurd long toe Mexican boots
@@Gavin_May Fenoglio boots are made in Mexico bro.
@@Gavin_May When I got to the sister of the guy who dated my Mother when she was in high-school I almost lost it ...
Some docs are still made in England, just not all of them.
@@cacon1239 I watched a documentary on the BBC filmed at the factory in England the same week my daughter got her first Doc Martens. A pure coincidence, but cool nonetheless.
could also buy a new pair of boots from solovair. theyre the brand from the factory that used to make docs back in the 80s and 90s in england
@@Jay-nk6dm I would get solovair over docs now after seeing the Rose Anvil comparison.
I just purchased a pair of Solovairs, seem like better quality than Docs, but I still like Docs styling.
I 100% feel the same way. I'm a woman who wants a quality shoe and am tired of the female counterpart's shoe being flimsier.
Me, too. Plus men's are wider.
Do you wear them on concrete?
I’m wearing iron rangers daily and They’re not the most comfortable walking on concrete.
@Peter smith honey vibrant ?

This channel is the reason I use welco jungle boots for everything, already liked boots because I’m a hiker but the extra info is much appreciated
Those Rawlings look special. Reminds me of the top quality leather baseball glove I had as a kid. Put those on my short list.
I didn’t even know Rawlings made a boot. Off to eBay I go before you guys drive up the price… whoosh 💨
Edit: They didn’t have any 😔
My favorite boot is Mechanix Wear which is no longer made. I haven't been able to find anything equivalent. It's made from mostly synthetic materials, very comfortable, and breaths well in the heat.
I totally agree about the rock roosters. I have a pair that i wear everyday. The most comfortable boots I've ever worn.
I’ve been wearing a pair of Allen Edmonds Higgins Mill boots with the lug sole and have fell in love with them. I’ve worn them almost everyday at work this winter and they’re by far the most comfortable boots I own.
That they are
I love he loves boots so much!I can see why ,it's like women with shoes,I love boots and nice footwear myself,I'm glad he has this channel available for anyone to see,I can't see this channel doing anything but growing!Best Wishes Rose Anvil!
Love Project Farm
Love my Lems Boulder Boots! I came across them in a store and by dumb luck they only size they had left was my size - and when I put them on I was blown away! They are like slippers and boots put together! So comfy. 👍🏻
So I think this random boot contest is a scam I was selected also.
After i broke in 7 red wing heritage boots, I thought my urban loggers wouldn’t be an issue to break in. I was wrong.
I have a pair of nicks overlanders with at least 200 hours and I'm just starting to break them in. But it's still good boots for the price.
@@neff-uu2xr yea I have a part of Justins I got them to my size their wide is bigger than advertised but stiff as hell
@@cpsbandit6164 Yea it's fun to show off the boots but there are some days that my feet just gets tired of leather 😅
I still find my Mongrel and Redback's to be my favourite and most comfortable boots. Both made in Australia too !
And RMs haha
Thanks for the info as always. Would you ever consider looking at a pair of Trickers?
Got me a pair of iron rangers and I've been addicted to your channel ever since.
Best time to buy is around Father's day and Thanksgiving when they go on sale.
i'm really proud to be an Indonesian, knowing there are brands from Indonesia that makes good quality boots and shoes.
Can’t beat thorogood for me. I wear the heritage moc toe for work and the 1957 series for hunting/hiking.
Where do you buy wool insoles?
Please cut apart a Danner Mountain Light. I've had mine for over 16 years (with one resole by Danner) and they're still going strong.
Never heard of them before
@@Chiefleif91 You're missing out. Best classic hiking boots out there, by far.
Would love to see a video of you cutting in half some redwing work boots. More specifically the dynaforce line. It’s what I wear for work. Would be really interesting to see what’s inside. Love your vids dude!
I wear them pretty much on a daily basis! Super comfy too!
Also, I love your content man, keep up the great work!
I just received my Truman Cattail Grizzly after 8 weeks ,and I do think the wait was worth it. Nothing better than hand made boots.very comfortable.
I'd love to see some tall boots for men - it's time for them to come back in fashion again :)
I hate 8 inch boots, Im a bit tall and they are akward, 14 eyes, even maybe 20 eyes would be cool to see, as there arent many good companies that do them.
You mean like the same vein as the hightop military boots? Halfway to the calf? Para boots
I'm bringing them back. I have a growing tall boot rotation.
Shitkickers > Blundstones around here
@Wecanjump B
D😆
This channel is what reintroduced me to Redbacks and ultimately got me to purchase a pair that have become my everyday boot
Two brands I’d love to see you explore:
Rossi in Australia (compare to Blundstone and Redwing)
JK Boots (Compare to Nick’s and White’s)
Man blundstones aren't good nowadays
When I was riding, the Hathorn packer was a great bang for the buck boot. When doing ground work, it was the redwing 402. The Vasquez sundowner of the 80's was my go to hiker, with oboz being my current one, though I dream of a pair of Russell moccasin boots. Now that I have a little money, I have some nicer boots that I really enjoy, but those first 3 will always be special.
Thanks to this channel started my little boot collection (red wing IR and whites perry) really cool to see your preference on boots and got some ideas to add this year hopefully 🤞🏼
One important point, you need outdoor and indoor boots ( even concrete like surfaces, irregular multiple terrain)
It can be the difference between slipping and cracking your head
I am in the market for new boots. I was wondering is there a difference in quality between female and male versions of the same boots?
Good topic for a new video I guess
Thank you!
Here in the Pacific Northwest, we wear 1. Danner Super Rainforest 2. Red Wings the most.
Thanks for all the effort you and your crew put into these videos, very helpful and interesting to watch! 👌
The POLO Ralph Lauren Hamlin boots are really nice looking. Just picked up an all black pair
👍. I'm watching you from Russia. It is very interesting to learn about the structure of shoes.classic American shoes are especially interesting.
You give tonnes of information and you seem really genuine so I subscribed.
I like the Dayton Black Beauty as a casual boot and Red Wing 4473 for work.
I've had a pair of Rockport ankle boots for about 10 years now and boy are they comfortable.
Do you know how important your channel is....if there was only a guy like you for every product out there. I appreciate what you do so much. It's something everyone should know, everyone. Please, stay cool. JSTN from Chicago
Cat's a superstar. Everytime you begin filming it comes running to get in on the filming. 😁
Thx for an awsome channel, I've binged it and got myself a pair of Red Wing 1907's. It would be awsome to see this model get reviewed and cut in half!
I love watching Brian the Boot Maker! So cool he got a shout out in this list
Men's and Women's sizes are available
My Brother still has a pair he had made back in the 60s and back then they made wooden lasts of your feet.
Dude "..just feels good.." in his heels. Right on
Hey, just like you never thought your job would be cutting boots apart, I never thought I’d spend hours watching boots get cut apart.
