I think there should be an option to toggle between soundscapes. Us nostalgic folks will want to at least have the option to retain the originals. Ideally if you could switch back and forth individually, that would be best, but that's a lot to ask. For example, I prefer the new guest chatter noises to the old ones.
This is sort of okay, but I'm not sure how much I want them changing lots of things. The soundscape of RCT is iconic, and I'm nervous about changing things too much.
I've been playing Open RCT for about 12 hours now and it is virtually the same. The ambient sounds are perfect. The only real difference I've noticed is there's a larger variety of music.
Not to worry! If you want to revert back to the original sounds and music from RCT1 and RCT2, you can do so under the Advanced tab in options (the wrench). Simply click on the "Asset Packs" button and uncheck the OpenRCT2 sounds and music. To my understanding, the purpose of these changes is to work towards a very far down the road goal of releasing a standalone version of OpenRCT2, and in order to do that, all assets, such as music, sound effects, and visual elements need to be original, so as not to run into issues with theft of assets and whatnot. As such, new assets are being made/recorded, like the ones showcased in this video, for instance! I don't believe the intention is to completely remove the old content in the process though; for those who still want the original assets, you can change them back if you so desire, as mentioned before!
