  • By adding two beads to a Slim Shady, it now becomes a heavy dropper fly or a heavy single baetis nymph that can be used in a nymph rig with no weight. Looking for a small euro nymph? Yep, that too.
    Hook: Daiichi 1270, TMC 200R, Size 18-2
    Beads: 2-1.5mm Tungsten Beads
    Thread: MFC 8/0 Light Brown
    Tail: Micro Fibbets, Split or Hackle
    Rib: Juan's Slim Rib, Brown
    Thorax: Thread/beads
    Wingcase: Brown or Black Medium Holographic Tinsel
    Legs: 12 Fibers of Flouro Fibre, Shrimp Pink, Black or Brown
    Resin: Deer Creek Diamond Fine

    I just came across your fly tying videos yesterday, and I just want to say you're tying some really nice looking patterns. I've been looking at some of your midges and these smaller mayfly nymphs. Really nice stuff. Thanks for sharing.

    Sick brother. Love the weight. I’ve been tying your Slim with double beads for the Truckee for a min now, and they are the ticket. 🤘Amazing tie as always

    does the hook choice here benefit the 2 beads at all? Is there much difference between the daichi 1270 & tiemco 200r?

      Hi. Yeah, the 200R and the 1270 are the same hook, different manufacturers. The long shank of the hook choice allows the beads to be used in this pattern. If you change the hook, you will lose the space to use two beads.

    How do you get the beads on hook mine don't seem to want to go around the hook bend

    • @HopperJuan
      @HopperJuan  4 года назад

      It can depend on the beads you use. Some have a very small eye and won't go around the bend. Try using a Firehole 718 hook also. They are barbless and have a wider bend.
