Debatable, but not enough for me to say more.
Gates of isthar and Dissection are great Melo death bands. I don't consider Dissection to be purely a black metal band albeit inspired by it. They were purely Melo death and Sweden produces some of the best bands in the genre.

They're never returning that though, the genius behind that album was Alf Svensson and he's gone. They'll just rehash the same SOTS riffs forever and keep milking the cash cow.
Eh, nothing wrong with milking that cash cow. Most bands rehash and that's fine with me - there are plenty of bands on the bleeding edge of things that I can sit here and simply enjoy something solid from a legendary band. The Red/With Fear are both fantastic and we still have those, so that works for me.
Well, that album might be one of the best metal albums of all time. Pretty hard to top in any case.

yeah the last album didn't even really feel like an At the Gates album to me, I thought it was rather bland. This sounds more like what I expect from them and it gives me high hopes for the album. It could use more riffs though, their old stuff burned through far more riffs per song instead of being as repetitive as this is and the last album was. Like this is good but it doesn't give me any of the "oh shit" moments like the songs on Slaughter of the Soul did when they would burst into some sick intricate melodic section. But this is promising nonetheless.
Lol, you're silly. This song is good, but there are good five or six off of the previous album that sound better to these ears. Plus, the production on the previous album was much better. It's all opinions, though - I'm not trying to state this shit as fact.

Glad its not overproduced like most of todays metal. An actual human playing the drums and actual recorded drum sounds. Makes great wonders to a mix. Whats wrong with todays mixes is that 99% are programmed drums with fake drum sounds, so once you actually hear real musicians recording real music your ears be like "Dayum somethings up!"

Sounds very much like RUclips compression to me.... you also have that 'jingly' sound which most lower bit MP3s tend to have... judging from their previous album, I'm sure At The Gates will deliver an oustanding product, tho!
