Right, wanted to point that out too :) Canola works good for me and its super cheap here, the peanut oil altough fits a bit better in terms of taste I think :)
If you want to use olive oil, make sure to use oil from the last pressing (usually the cheapest). Never use extra virgin olive oil, as it'll most likely burn on you and turn bitter. But better yet, use an oil with a high smoke point, such as peanut, sunflower, canola or something like that. Also, if you enjoy the taste of sichuan peppers, you can cook a tablespoon or so with the oil. Make sure to take them out after the oil begins to smoke, or you'll burn them.
it is the very first time I see chili oil being made this way.....normally, chefs would fry the minced dried chili on low heat until the chili is golden brown... anyways, thanks for sharing
I watch couple of videos like this and I never understand why people tell you to wait until oil starts smoking. The smoking point of different oil is different and perfect temperature for pouring the oil on top of chilli is the same. Oil to hot = burned chilli. I'm not a chef, but isn't that obvious mistake?
Some of the people comments give u all tumbs up must be ur friends, first of all u didn't even show what is going on inside the pan n there is no olive oil in authentic shzechuan chill oil.... please find out the recipe first n show others coz we r no dumb here....
Enjoyed the video Kelly but I can't focus on the cooking because I am so distracted by you and your beautiful outfit. I'll do my best to try to focus on the cooking but no promises.
I would never use Olive Oil, that's a waste of good oil. Use Canola or Peanut oil. Put pepper flakes, ginger, and garlic in oil and put it over low heat for 20 minutes and let it steep on that low heat. After 20 minutes or so take it off the heat and add some Sesame oil to it. Put everything in a container then let it sit for 24 hours before use. Strain into another container and refrigerate and enjoy.
Its mostly a sauce, you dont really cook with it. It goes good on just about everything though. Rice, Chicken, Noodles, Pizza, any asian food. It's great
Well Done But Olive Oil? Fuh Real?? Peanut Oil Is Best I Think. Olive Oil Has A very Strong Flavour, I Love Using peanut Oil To Make Mine Or Some Other Oil That Has A Natural Flavour!! Very Informative!!
Very amateur techniques and wrong in many ways. By the way did you notice the mouse or roach after she's done making the chile oil? Look on left side of video in that plastic clear box or whatever that is. Gross. Would not buy a damn thing from you.
I made this recipe last week. It came out absolutely georgeous. Thank you sooo much!
I didn't know chili sauce is very easy to make until I watched your
wonderful video. Thank you for sharing your ideas!
Its fine. I understood every word. And I plan on making this it sounds great!
Vegetables oil is the best to used 😊😊😊😊😊
You can use any cooking oil. I used grape seed oil last time and it was amazing.
This is a great video! Its helpful to see how its actually done.
Thank you for this simple recipe
Love it. Awesome. Just what I need the most right now.
I have enjoyed your videos and your websites addresses. Please keep it up.
I've learned alot!! Thank you!
This looks so yummy!
Wow she's beautiful! Thanks for the recipe.
That was easy. I have to make this soon.
DON'T use Olive oil viewers. Use a high temperature oil such as Peanut, Canola or vegetable. She mis-read the autocue.
Right, wanted to point that out too :) Canola works good for me and its super cheap here, the peanut oil altough fits a bit better in terms of taste I think :)
I totally agree!! I really wouldn't use olive oil in this kind of application!! Peanut oil would probably be the best choice here!!
President Oxford true... olive oil will have a burnt taste which is not good
agree
Olive oil does not the original oil in China. So it's not Sichuan chilli sauce.

+Daniel Bos yes, +1 for peanut oil. also very good is homemade ghee (clarified butter, easy to make)
+simon l .....rape oil? I'd love to try some.
+papitosabe rape oil was renamed canola for the puritans
Yes it's called rapeseed oil!!
I was certain it was wrong. TIL thanks
You need oil that can handle heat. Olive oil is not appropriate for chili oil.
+OTAKUJHE I suspect she wants an oil that can be used for salads too?
You can use REGULAR PURE olive oil as long as IT'S NOT extra virgin. In the video she uses REGULAR olive oil which is fine for this application.
You are hotter than Chilli Oil! ;) thank you for the recipe.
@remkade Thank you so much!
I will try this, it looks easy! Maybe I will add some things of my own.. thx!
YOUR VIDEOS ARE AWESOME! Thank you!!!
Looks great!! I made it too but it didn't bubble when I added oil to the dried chilies 🌶🤷🏽♂️
how much of each oil did you use and did you include the peanuts?
Love her accent. Wish my mom had this accent
Hi I want to request you to make hot pepper paste which chinese or korean normally use in there cooking.
Thanks.
Pretty chef.
how long will it keep?
I use red chili oil on everything from tacos to pizza im addicted to it
how much of each do you use????
I LIKE CHILI OIL, THANKS
@gabriela6202 You can use any cooking oil.
please what is the difference between cayenne powder and chili powder?
+xvzw The pepper it comes from.
Cayenne powder is from a single red cayenne chili ....chili powder is usually a blend of chili peppers
uhhhh, where are the sichuan/szechuan peppercorns to make this authentic? this is just regular asian chili oil
you can buy is from any Chinese supermarket
Didn't u use Sichuan red pepper , cinnamon sticks and star anise?? 😊
Can I use fresh chilis?
I used fresh chillies once and it went moldy.
Do you live in Germany or Sweden ?
it is the very first time I see chili oil being made this way.....normally, chefs would fry the minced dried chili on low heat until the chili is golden brown... anyways, thanks for sharing
I don't wanna be that guy but at 2:57 what is that crawling up a wall in the reflection of that toaster oven?
peanut oil is very good or sesame oil
+ARCHEROO78 sesame oil doesn't have a high burn point either. But yes, peanut oil does.
love it! :D

绝对有四川味道的E文有木有。!!!
One should never heat olive oil to smoke point...
Why not use peanut oil and skip the peanuts? Not a lot of olive oil used in Chongqing, most cook with peanut oil.
+Dirk Stroker Of course it should be peanut oil. Olive oil for Chinese dishes is so weird.
+Dirk Stroker I'm guessing she's trying to cater to US audience by using olive oil.
woooaw !
Wouldn't Olive oil overpower the taste of the chili?
Some of the people comments give u all tumbs up must be ur friends, first of all u didn't even show what is going on inside the pan n there is no olive oil in authentic shzechuan chill oil.... please find out the recipe first n show others coz we r no dumb here....
@pol1mex It's a fish in a fish tank. Good imagination though.
@cainmarko69 Wonderful ideas! I will try using your recipe next time. Thanks for sharing!
Enjoyed the video Kelly but I can't focus on the cooking because I am so distracted by you and your beautiful outfit. I'll do my best to try to focus on the cooking but no promises.

Keep in the refrigerator, up to one year.
Grapeseed oil has a high smoking point & won't burn.
+Mary Therese McCool grapeseed or rapeseed [canola]?
+emanon Grape seed oil.
Can you grind the nuts? "No Pun Intended"
