Anyone who owns a cat knows they won't be forced to do something they don't want to. This cat is fawned over, exercised, and given stimulation every day. Has a better life than a lot of cat pets.

I tried to train my cat to fetch without success. Then one day a friend came over and the cat played fetch as if she was really proud of it. Then after he left that day, she would never play fetch again.

I’ve trained a number of cats and that’s my philosophy and discovery unlike a dog that is a pack animal and really wants to please its owner. A cat is very independent and doesn’t have the desire to please you so the first step to training a cat is to build a rapport, so the cat actually enjoys interacting with you whether that’s with food or cuddles or attention or whatever it might be for them. It’s pretty easy to train a cat after and you’ll find it’s not much different than training a Dog,

I once trained my cat to jump from one chair to another and back on command. But he would refuse to do the trick when I wanted to show off for the guests.

Humans have the most neurons in our cerebral cortex than any animals. In my K-9 unit of the army, we also have access to this info and the breed difference so that we can train them better.

Cats are extremely intelligent. I had a cat who would jump up on the porch railing, push down on the screen door latch/handle with his paw, and pull the door open enough to get his head and part of his body in. Then he'd jump down to the floor inside the house. He did that when we had company. They heard the back door slam and got startled. We explained, "That's just the cat, letting himself in." Cats have goal-oriented behavior. They do things to get what they want, not to please humans. However, the skateboarding cat is cool.
Yes cats are really smart and funny! My cat had many kittens a few months back and they do so many funny and smart things! On another note, the videos on the playlist on my channel titled 'Purpose of Life?' might interest some people!

This is amazing! My old is cat which is a beautiful brown tabby is super smart. He learned many words enos hand signals as well. He was a bottle baby when I rescued him so we have a very strong bond but I can’t imagine him ever cooperating doing this. I think that the differences that dogs are more needy so they are eager to please and cats decide for themselves if they want to do something or not. That’s been my experience. My other cat loves to play fetch. It was her idea and it seems to make her very happy.

Cats don't forget tricks that they learn and they can learn fast. It took me 20 minutes to train one of my cats to jump through a loop between one chair to another and he never forgot it and did it even in front of guests.
I think Thomas Jefferson said it quite eloquently. He said,"a nation that doesnt have skateboarding cats deserves neither skateboards nor cats."

I don't think that cats forget tricks. I think they just don't want to follow orders. They are much less eager to please than dogs. There has to be something in it for them to do something. A treat probably isn't enough of a reward.

My grandfather taught his cat to do several tricks. But the cat refused to do any of them if anyone else was there. It drove my grandpa crazy because the cat was making him look like a liar. My mother finally hid in the closet and saw the cat do the tricks.
