Thanks for this. I suppose for folks who put 1000 rounds through without cleaning, there might be a problem.Me--I'm a bit more fastidious; try to clean my guns after each shooting experience.
@CharlesClementsjr yeah I knew that was coming. That’s the way it always is when you have a pistol that people love to hate on like Canik or some other brand that the gun snobs love to hate it’s never enough. I could put 12,000 through it and they would say they shot the lug nuts out of a John Deere tractor tire at 165 yards with one eye close, and one hand behind their backs after having put 2233 rounds through the gun in one sitting without cleaning 🤦🏻♂️
I'm with you. My OCD has me cleaning what I feel is a bit over-done factory or shipping grease whether it's obvious or not from every new gun I get using at minimum a good CLP and usually a light coating of some gun oil on the rails before I even fire a shot. I do, however, like when someone else does these out of box no cleaning 1000 round reviews to see what might occur if the gun gets gunked up so I don't have to.😉
Hello GSquaredTactical, and thank you for the GX2 torture test. At this point I've decided that the GX2 will be my next EDC purchase, as I am confident that it will do what I need/want it to do when I duty calls. I am elderly, I don't work in law enforcement or military, and I don't go to the range frequently, ( due to ammo prices ) nor do I abuse my guns by tossing them around in mud, or gravel, etc. I've always treated my firearms with respect and I keep them clean and LIGHTLY lubed. The only handgun that I've ever had problems with was a Taurus PT 908..it was a jammer, no matter what ammo I tried to run through it.
New subscriber to you, came across the vids you have on the gx2 and like your style. I’ve been eyeing the gx2 for ccp in IDPA. Currently doing a project to see how well I can do with a G3 Tactical in competition and have been blown away by how much fun I’m having with it. The gx2 might be the 2nd Taurus added to my collection
Yeah over the last five years I’ve had nothing but great value and reliability from Taurus. Prior to that a paper weight. Not sure what changed but it was for the best
I bought a GX-4 Carry TORO. The thing that stood out most to me about it was the slide fitment. There's so little wiggle and wobble I was shocked. They also did a really nice crowning on the barrel. For $308 shipped to my FFL, I think this was the best buy I've made in the last 5 years. I'm a Taurus fan for one reason. Mine run like well oiled machines. I've never had a single issue that was not ammo related. Mine are all stock as well. We go 5000 rounds in between cleaning on our Gen 1 TX-22's. We use el cheapo ammo too. They're range only pistols. The TX-22 Competition we clean every 500 rounds. It's truly a great and accurate shooting target pistol. I love my PT-111 G2, G3 TORO, TX-22, and GX-4 Carry TORO. We have M&P, Ruger,Canik, and Walther pistols in our safe as well. The Canik's are my personal favorite, but they're 100% competition pistols or range plinkers. The GX-4 Carry is my EDC and it's one of the nicer pistols I've had the pleasure of shooting. It carries really well and is simple to conceal. The GX-2 I have mixed emotions on. I wish they would have brought a TORO version right from the get go. Thanks G, God Bless
Great review. This seems to be a much better overall design than the g2c. I own a g2c and have thousands of rounds through it. I can say that when shooting it fast when it's dirty and hot I have seen the slide to start acting up not wanting to go into battery. I beleive it's the combination of dirt and heat that does it. But usually takes 300 to 599 rounds for that to appear and depends on ammo I'm using.
Great review. As for a 1,000 or so rounds without cleaning, its not a make or break thing with me cause I would never go that long without cleaning or lubing a gun. Thanks
Thanks for the accelerated run-it-dirty mini torture test. I already bought my GX2 but it's still good data. The GX2 looks like it's going to be a big winner for Taurus. Other than maybe a second strike capability, the GX2 has all of the features I want in a carry gun. I do wish they had a version with black DLC finish like the GX4, and no external safety. I bought the stainless slide version so I wouldn't worry about the "matte black" mystery finish wearing off and the steel slide rusting with 24/7 back pocket carry.
Man, I went out to the range today and threw it in a mud puddle and slashed it around, not realizing there was a bed of mini rocks at the bottom of the puddle and I could just feel it roughing up the slide. Right now it has so much Gunk on it. I can’t really tell, but just simply wiping it off with a rag. It really does not look like it has done much to the finish, but I’m going to try and get it cleaned up and we’ll be able to better tell
@@GSquaredTactical - Thanks for abusing the GX2 so we don't need to do that to our purdy new pew. I miss The Gauntlet tests at Military Arms Channel. We learn a lot from worst case scenario testing.
Thanks for the video! About the magazines, back in 2020, Taurus partnered with a Brazilian company specializing in metallurgy and parts assembly. Their goal was to replace Mec-Gar and even compete with them in the magazine market. Taurus magazines are now made by a company specifically created for this purpose, and it seems like they’ve been quite successful with it. 👍
Your reviews are always top notch. You’re the reason I currently own the CZ P-07 the shadow 2 black&blue full size. Them pistols always feel great in the hand. Thanks for the awesome honest reviews.
Thanks for sharing this honest video. For the price it's a good second gun or a firearm for someone who can't afford a more expensive pistol. Idk if it's true, the GX4 magazines will work in this pistol. The GX4 4 magazines are made by Mec-Gar ? My husband and I appreciate your review of this pistol. God bless 🙏🎄❄️
Gene I bought a throat reamer and reamed the barrels on my G2C and my G3C because they would not fully chamber certain types of ammo, after that they where good to go.
Fantastic review. Think I'm going to wait & see if they come out with a Toro model. I already got the Tx22, GX4 & G3x. Would love to add this one to the collection.

Hey it runs 🤷seen some internal pics of these and there a little jagged. Is that the filings in the thumbnail? Did all the shooting smooth that jagged stuff out?
As I mentioned in the video, I had heard that rumored so it was one of the first things I looked at prior to ever shooting it and mine did not look like that at all. Once I am able to get it cleaned up, I plan to try and get a better look at it. After putting it in the sandy mud today, it probably did get roughed up lol
I would like a fallow up series with the GX4. I think it would be a good comparison as they both cover the same use but different price point. The GX4 carry with the longer grip and barrel specifically.

I think torture tests are redundant. Guns are designed to be cleaned and maintained. Even in a high combat situation you aren't putting over 50 or 100 rounds through a firearm.
In combat situations stats show (Google AI) that soldiers shoot anywhere from a few dozen up to 200 pistol rounds depending on the engagement. I like the stress tests for my own peace of mind. There is no bigger or more serious responsibility than carrying a firearm as a citizen. For that reason I appreciate these tests and perform them on anything before I have the confidence to carry it. If we're being honest, the classes (I take as many as I can afford) teach us that the odds of ever having to even brandish the firearm, let alone use it are slim to almost none. That said, it's good to be very familiar with your platform and fully understand the limitations. It's also very interesting to see the extremes some of these YT channels go to in order to try and get the firearm to fail. I find it interesting. Lastly my favorite classes all end with this. The instructor points at each of us and says Guys, remember, the best gun fight is the one you're not in. I could not agree more strongly with those awesome and powerful words.
Where’s them haters at I seen in the comments saying it would not make it two 300 rounds before it broke,, now it’s at 500 rounds and still looking strong,, what y’all gonna say if it does make the 1k round mark with no issues,, I no some of you will find something to complain about it’s just your nature,, if it’s not your brand of gun it’s less then,,
