In Part C, there is no need to go into conservation of energy. The problem says that the contact is lost once the rolling starts over the barrier. That mean the value of cos theta is 2/3 from the geometry of the problem itself. In any event, cos theta obtained after minimizing v in the equation obtained post the conservation equation is not 2/3. Once cos theta is fixed at 2/3, N becoming zero in the force equations directly give a value of omega from which v and Vcm can be obtained. The conservation of energy steps is not required.
