chris schiefen Where's dear old uncle Bobby??? Adrian's only been in for about 30 years, Bob's been in since WAY before the beginning!! How can there be a KC without RF??
Haha. I don't think this was ever officially Crim. Forget what they called it, but it was "blessed" by Bobby, as long as they didn't call it KC. Now Rob has reclaimed the KC name (professionally), & yes, without Adrian (touring later this year? PS---3 drummers)
I could watch this a dozen times just to marvel at how the drummers mesh while keeping out of each other's way. Tobias Ralph seems like the breakout, dominant drummer at first, but he's making eye contact with Mastelotto for the transitions, not the other way around. Great ensemble playing.
You MUST make this footage available. This was one of the most incredible nights of my life, and I was so excited that there were people filming. Now I finally found this. I would bend over backward to purchase footage of this concert.
Fucking great. I took my brother (a tepid Crim fan) to see 'em at the Warner Theater a week or so ago and he is STILL talking about it. He was totally blown away by their performance. (Me? I loved it but I've seen 'em a dozen times.)
Please release the entire show. Saw 3 shows in California and it was an amazing experience. Yours is the best video/sound of any of the RUclips videos from this once in a lifetime tour. Please release!!!
The live shows were great! We caught them in NYC and shared a table with California Guitar Trio's Hideyo Moriya. The footage and sound are very good. I will buy the two copies of the DVD when it is released. Thank you!!
Caught the show in NYC at the Iridium, simply awesome,The Stick Men were doing a photo shoot outside when we arrived at the venue, also had Tony,Pat and Adrian sign my Thrak cd cover
@RickPlaysStick AND all the other good souls who took the time to write: There's nothing certain and all the details are to be sorted out, but the interest is there, so we'll try to make it happen! Stay tuned and THANKS!
I saw this tour down in MA at the Iron Wolf. .great show . . these guys cook . . if you have more footage by all means don't keep it to yourself . . . for a RUclips vid this is nice . . . camera work and sound are beyond usual RUclips stuff , , , keep it going dude. . .
@maddpiklz48 Hey! Thanks! And do you care about the fact that it's a bit rough around the edges (i.e. the sound is a direct feed from the board, the whole place shaked like crazy because of the bass and i shows in the footage, etc..) ?? I'm curious to hear your opinion on this; it's a bit of a market study... :) Thanks everyone!
The sound quality is a little low, but I guess it's youtube conversion fault. And I couldn't hear some instruments (the right drummer, not Pat, and Julie). However, I'd get it anyway =)
I would buy this in a second.... the only problem is I want it right now!! This was a really good chest thumping show. Can we have more please??? Frame by Frame ? Red????
@timi0000 So are you saying you miss the little something that makes you want to smash things or the thing that is missing makes you want to smash things? Just to make sure I understand correctly! :)
At least Bruford made this make sense and gave it a rhythmic quality. This is Pat keeping HIS rhythm and the other guy doing a solo. So, no uncle Bobby in this version??? And THREE BASS PLAYERS???
Josh Billard No clue! What's a U8? The only stringed instrument here I see being "touched" is Tony's Chapman Stick. The guy on the left with the Warr Guitar is clearly strumming and making chords.
Red Vynil The instrument that looks like a Warr Guitar is the U8. www.touchguitars.com/u8-deluxe-transparent-cherry-2010/ Designed (not built) by Markus Reuter (the guy onstage playing the instrument in question). Kind of a best of all worlds (or compromise, depending on your taste) between Warr Guitar, Chapman Stick and Standard Guitar. Also, this is Adrien Belew Power Trio + Tony Levin's Stick Men project. Neither of which include Robert Fripp.
Josh Billard Never heard of it before!I just figured, it's a King Crimson song and half the band IS (or was) in King Crimson, and they tend change persona faster than my nephew changes jobs, so, I just thought it was the new version of Crimson!
Red Vynil The new version of King Crimson consists of Robert Fripp, Jakko Jaksyk (of 21st Century Schizoid Band) on 2nd guitar/vocals (Belew is gone, sadface), Mel Collins (played on Lizard, Islands, Earthbound and Red) on sax & flute, Tony Levin on bass/stick, Pat on Drums, Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) also on Drums, and Bill Reiflin (session legend) ALSO on drums. They are doing a US/Canada tour this fall. Pricey, but probably worth it. Playing mostly material from the John Wetton Days, 21st C.S.M. and some other select tracks.
Thrak is missing something. I think it's the drummer and guitarist playing in an odd time signature that gives it the energy that makes me want to get up and start smashing things
No, this is a tour with two bands that played together, Stick Man (with Tony Levin and Pat Mastellotto) and Andrew Belew Power Trio. They played a lot of Crimson stuff.
I agree that Bill is a huge part of the King Crimson sound. Though I would say the albums before he joined are classic Crimson especially In The Court. His retirement unfortunately had to come and he is easily the best Crimson drummer IMO.
REALESE THE ENTIRE SHOOOOOOOOOWWWWW!!!!! in the 70's the quality of image and sound where way worst, and neverless the shows that where filmed in that time sitll rock!!!!! This one should be realesed to rock for ages too!!!!!
It is good on its own, always interesting to document how things get to evoluate with new technology, especially HD. But not as good as it was played originally by Bill Bruford and Pat Mastelotto in '94-'95. Drums sound is a little to muffled compared to the open resonating tom toms of the '90s and to a performance point of view, it isn't any better but different, it does not roll as much as it used to. Perhaps youth's verve and the freshness of the material is lacking. People doesn't understand and i say that by experience as being a semi-pro drummer, that you can't be someone else or try to emulate perfectly someone else's way of playing. Most of the time not. It is better to adapt your style or way of playing to the original composition. I understand that it wasn't the goal to copy and that is a interpretation of the original, but it doesn't gain in goodness. One funny point though is to be able to hear some King Crimson without Robert Fripp.
I don't think it's about the technology or the muffed sound - it's just odd to hear someone playing this piece with such a "drumset" mentality. Here's what I mean - there was a lot more hi-hat work, more reliance on the snare on what roughly resembled the two and four coming from the new guy, while Pat is doing a controlled avalanche on the toms with a selighbell stick of some kind in one hand (!?), totally not thinking about *anything* that resembles "boom, tap, boom boom tap." So the new guy is obviously talented, but this ensemble doesn't lift free from the conventions of rock drumming as much as the combo of Mastelotto & Bruford because there's a lot of rock drum tropes still in the mix.
@@albinrose418 I much prefer this version! The beginning is over three minutes, they want to establish a mood, vibe an ambient atmosphere but i find it to long. The image is in SD, still it got grain which is more artistic in a photographic point of view. The sound and the performance is much better and simpler in rudiments and it works. As you said there is a lot of rock drum tropes in the mix. Fill-ins to impress. The playing must keep a african tribe point of inspiration. ruclips.net/video/1WbAu2cQl0k/видео.html
@wwwjscotecom Crimson nerds will take whatever you got. They have some pretty low-quality live releases that they themselves endorse, and this blows some of them out of the water. We're not a picky bunch.
Amazing drumming but just get Bill Brufflord back, he can do it all!!

I know I will be flogged for this, but his isn't King Crimson... and it doesn't convince me in the least, too much drumming, too much incoherence with no sense of direction whatsoever
@ My caption isn't clear either; I meant King Crimson's SONG but it may be understood as King Crimson playing B'Boom, so I am a bit to blame for this, tbh!!

@@JSCote I too was too quick to jump to conclusions and didn't read the fine print. Spotted Levin, Belew and Mastelotto and quickly moved on to look for Fripp while the video played instead of reading further. I hope my comment did not come across as too disparaging,.. the iterations of KC after the 80's line up and Bill Bruford's departure never fully convinced me. The musicianship is flawless but I find the overall result too overbearing, there was in the earlier line ups a balance between raw power and delicate (almost poetic) details that I still have not encountered in what came after that. Still hoping for a new "reincarnation".
Fuck yeah, man. How can there be King Crimson without Adrian??? Damn it.
REALLY??? You couldn't see Adrian in this video???
Red Vynil He means Adrian is out in the new iteration of the Crim.

Saw this show in Phoenix and was blown away. Amazing talent on stage that night. We had Danny Carey from Tool filling in for Eric Slick.
😮
Their synchrony is impeccable.

Wow,this is outstanding footage! Please release this and it will be an auto-buy for me on day one. Incredible
I always like to have a good chocolate chip trip when I listen to this.
Pat would bring a lot out of Danny I think. Pat as metronome
I met Danny in the lobby of a KC show. He talked for 20 minutes it was great. Pat was one of the three drummers on stage that night. Good times!
Merci JS Cõté!
Mercy! Your videos are fantastic do great justice to the fantastic musicians and music you've captured.

Yes! This tour deserves an official DVD!
And this new Ba Boom ..... I LIKE IT! ;-)
I’ve seen these amazing musicians for over 10 years every august at the end of the camp week!!
It’s magic every single time!
Fripp can't remove the video if you remove him from it first.
Drumming moment of a guitar centric band. Amazing!!
Una verdadera lección para percusionistas 👍🎶🥁👀 excelente. Bill Bruford también 👌
It is astounding how locked in Pat is. The other guy is fantastic too of course. But that mechanical Mastelotto!!!! Jeez!! 🙏
man, wanna see the whole thing. I was in NYC and saw them, amazing concert!!! download the whole stuff , we will say thanks for that

maravilloso !!!!!! excelente !!!!
I saw the tour at The Canyon in Agoura Hills, CA. Great evening!
I've tried to play this on my own at home. Nope. I need a few more limbs. Saw them in Grugliasco (Turin). Great night.
Very interested in the possibility of this as a release!
I LIKE IT!!! Headed to STL to see the show tonight!
Applaus 😮
PLEASE release this! Please, please, PLEASE!!!
Oh yes, ABSOLUTELY release the whole concert!
Fucking love the Crimson music, lets keep it alive.
Tony Levin is a GOD!
Adrian Belew's hydraulic spring suspended stool looks like it came straight off an 18-wheeler
Belew looks like he came straight off an 18-wheeler! XD What's with the v-neck white T look?
Genial!
Tank you! 😮
Yeah, this is great! Relese it, please!
King Crimson never be the same. And it is perfect. Thank you, Adrian. The KC_train has to go further
Pat Mastelotto is an awesome drummer, & is handsome hehe

Mastelotto is miles ahead of Ralph when it comes to experience with this piece.
Exactly that, but there isn't any multitrack from the show; the only memento is the feed from the board and the ambience mics....

where is Fripp ?
Sitting... stage left?
It ain't Crismo without Bob!
Brufford?
Bill Bruford had long stopped playing when this was filmed...
Подяка за лисого!
Danny Carey is big Crimson fan

came here from Danny Carey's drum solo off jambi. He incorporates this into Tools live rendiition of Jambi. Search "jambi live, destined2sleep"

I though all members of King Crimson were original members!
Derek Eder there's been, like, 10 different incarnations. BTW ... this video is not King Crimson. It's the Krimson Projeckt (or something like that).
