Why a Christian School? A documentary

  • Only by the grace of God and Him alone that we have the blessing of a Christian School. Although this video is almost an hour long, its only scratching the surface. I didn't really focus on the acedemical aspect of the school but the makings of the school, why we started it against all odds and what drives us to keep it going.
Thanks to all the teachers who got dragged in front of the camera and interviewed and didn't make too much of a fuss about it. :)
Thanks to my mom, sister and friends who covered for my 65 hours of absence.

What you have in your community is such a blessing, and I will not lie and say I am not envious. Modern day Christians have become split and there is nothing holding us together.
I have no choice but to homeschool my kids because I will not send them to public school and be taught that there is no such thing as gender. On the contrary I cannot afford Christian private school. I crave a sense of community and belonging that I simply don't have, in this world that seems to be falling apart from under our feet it is very scary being alone. 😔

You have captured the essence of Christian education -- the goodness of God, the joy of the gospel, the heart of the teacher, the infinite worth of the student. We homeschooled our three daughters for many years, and we used CLE and Apologia (science), which are some of the same resources your school is using. As a mother who experienced both public and homeschooling, there is nothing like a church having their own school and homeschooling. Our church combines their own school with homeschooling. Our children go once a week from 9-4, and are taught everything-they have homework for the rest of week, plus whatever we as parents add to it. Our school is from lower elementary through high school. Then I add extras like living education where I read to them from a variety of subjects, I teach them to cook, food preservation, sewing, automotive maintenance to repair and other subjects. But center of all this is Yahweh. Both church school and home we begin with devotions. And He is cent throughout the day.
This documentary was well done and you have such a blessing on your colony to have this ability to educate your own children.

I started watching your vlogs recently and have enjoyed all of them! I was most moved by your video on femininity. What your dad said in that video literally moved me to tears. Now, watching this documentary, I am again moved. I have been homeschooling for 8 years now. I am now homeschooling only my youngest and it's her last year. Her 3 older siblings have graduated. This documentary moved me in that I wish I had had something like this, a school like this, for my children. I agree with your father that the social aspect is very important. Though we have a church, we do not have any children my daughter's age (she's 17). Ours is a very small congregation. She feels this lack of social interaction with others her own age. I should add that I live in a very small town and she grew into a teen when we had moved away for about 4 years. When she came back, she didn't know anyone anymore and our church congregation had shrunk. Anyway,
long story short, though our choice to homeschool was the right one, I do wish we'd had something like this for all my children: a Christ-centered education where children are being guided in an environment of their peers. I just want to say what a blessed and highly talented young lady you are. I have twin daughters that are your age and I hope that they make the choices you have to wholeheartedly serve Christ in everything they do. Thank you so much for sharing stories from your community. I look forward to seeing your channel grow as God allows and leads. Much love from Northwest Florida! Edited to add this question: Are your teachers "allowed" to marry? Meaning, once they take the job of a teacher, can they also have a family, or do they, as in much older times, need to leave the teaching job to raise their family? I was just curious. ( I know this question may seem absurd to others, but, if teaching takes a lot of their time, I didn't know if they're required to leave the teaching position in order to focus fully on raising a family if they wanted to marry. I hope this makes sense.)

Mmmm, i need some musical Joyce in my life, if i see her around then let no man try and stop me! It is a good video, i do wonder if non Hutterite kids are allowed to go there as well, i think schools all over the place should be like this, small groups with caring teachers is far better than mass teaching a single subject. Well done on this school and the video Adina, it is a great thing you have there.

I was born in Tampa Florida 1970. At the age of 12 I told my parents that I believed that God was calling me to dedicate my life to him completely and to be consecrated to his will only. My dad was a good man a great provider a wonderful father hard worker gentle kind and strong and my mom was a God-fearing Church going Bible believing Christian. I was overwhelmed by the feeling that I was meant to do something for God and so I begged my parents to let me go to an all girls Christian School. It was that year that the county changed all of the busing and I ended up going to Intercity schools that were very rough surrounded by crime drugs and every horrible thing you could imagine. My life got off course and as a teenager I got into trouble not real bad but big enough. This video brings tears to my eyes because the school you have is what I envisioned at 12 years old. God is good and I'm very grateful that he uses his children to lead others out of darkness and so one part of me feels regret that I didn't get to live the consecrated life I wanted at a young age but the other part of me is grateful that I am now consecrated to him and that through all of my walking and darkness I now know enough to go into that darkness and pull others out! I don't know that it was his perfect will that I am grateful that he can give us beauty for ashes and give us a garment of praise in place of the spirit of heaviness. God is good and all things God is good. I had the opportunity to work for a Christian boarding school as an adult. I only did it for 6 months. It was a program for troubled teens from around the country and I got to see firsthand the frustration and heartbreak that I put my own parents through when I ran away from home as a teenager. I totally agree wholeheartedly agree with every sentiment of the father and church leader in this video where he says that it takes a community! I pray that this nation will take church and Community very serious. It seems as though the church started to become focused on its own goals and left its communities to be plundered by darkness. I used to ride a Sunday school bus to a local church. I don't think I've seen a Sunday school bus in the last 20 years! The church seems to have turned its focus on its own blessings regarding material things and then has confused the truth of God with a sensual desire for worldly things. I pray that God will heal his church and I would love to see this video shown at every Church in the country! There's more wisdom and godliness in this one video then I've seen in multiple churches over two decades! I understand that he said it took 25 years but what you have now is so powerful and so wonderful just this video alone and the testimony of the people in the video is powerful enough to move others to action! I would love it if you would give me the right to make CD copies of this video to send to churches everywhere at my own expense of course! Public schools serve a purpose and I don't believe they have malicious intent but at the same time the Bible does give clear instructions on the life of a Christian versus the life of the secular world. Funny side note... I don't know where that came from when I was 12 and begging my parents to protect me by sending me to an all girl school a Christian School. I guess now I realize it was probably God! I used to cover my head and walk around the house with my head covered. My parents thought I was going crazy and they would demand that I take that off my head but I explained to them that it was my way of showing God that I belong to him. We were not Catholic nor did we attend a church that practiced covering your head so I can only assume that that was the Holy Spirit back in 1981 telling me that I was his! How awesome is God that he'll show you things to prove that he was with you when you didn't even know who he was! I wore that head covering all summer until I finally had to go to public inner city schools with barbed wire fencing around them and a policeman outside and then I decided that I probably didn't want to get beat up at school for a head covering! 😊. God bless you all and I absolutely absolutely love your Channel it brings great joy to my heart. Makes me want to hug every one of you! JESUS IS WONDERFUL COUNSELOR MIGHTY GOD.

Greetings from Romania! I love watching your videos; it’s inspiring and reminds me that even if we live in a world full of sin and dark , there are people who bring light and joy because of Christ in them.

what an amazing documentary. what you have done has provided an important insight into teaching children, where the whole child is taught and given all the knowledge they need to meet both the world and god.
your ability to film and give us an insight into your world and community is so professionally made and think everyone can see you are passionate about showing us your world and passing on that it is possible to live in the word of god.
(excuse my bad English, hope you understand what I'm trying to say)

I really enjoyed this. It was precious to see the interactions and dynamics as I attended a similar school as a young child. As a homeschool parent I smiled at the Apologia, Video Text, and Christian Light, and Auto Upkeep (!), especially the shots of the teachers going down the CLE math pages with check marks. Oh, corrections! Thank you for making this production. Well done.

Wow, this was amazing. Thank you so much for allowing us to see how you educate the kids. I wish my kids were able to get an education like this. I can feel the true love of each of the children as well with Christ each teacher has. I really appreciate seeing another way you live as well :)
