    0:00 Intro
00:26 Vitamin D is sequestered in fat tissue.
00:30 Vitamin D influences your metabolism,
00:58 Vitamin D insufficiency causes a dysregulation within your fat cells,
    01:30 vitamin D cutaneous synthesis.
02:25 Vitamin D in adipose (fat) tissue affects,
02:40 When you are overweight and obese, your fat cells become necrotic, and they can die.
03:22 The active form of vitamin D
04:30 Vitamin D exerts significant effects on the formation of fat cells (adipogenesis).
05:00 Sufficient levels active metabolites of vitamin D suppress the accelerated adipogenesis, shown in animal and cellular models.
    06:00 Vitamin D2 VS vitamin D3
07:00 Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) is acquired from your food or sun exposure. Food sources are fatty fish, dairy, ruminants, the flesh/skin of vertebrae animals, egg yolks and dietary supplements.
08:10 Vitamin D5, sitocalciferol, is derived from an Ayurvedic herb called Rauwolfia serpentina.
09:05 Your liver is responsible for hydroxylating pre-vitamin D into the somewhat active form, calcidiol. This is what is measured in your blood, 25-hydroxy vitamin D.
09:20 Either your fat cells or your kidney further hydroxylates it into 125-dihydroxy vitamin D, calcitriol, is the active form.
09:55 The conversion from 25-hydroxy vitamin D to the 125 dihydroxy vitamin D is down regulated In fat cells, particularly in overweight people.
12:09 Vitamin D activates the vitamin D receptor. Generally, vitamins are cofactors. Vitamin D receptor is found in your fat tissue, kidney, muscle, and bone. When it is activated, it effects your immune system, calcium homeostasis and binding and many inflammatory pathways.
12:55 The vitamin D receptor impacts lipolysis, the release of lipids from your fat cells for energy.
13:18 Your fat tissues store between 35 and 75% of your total body levels of vitamin D.
13:46 People who have diabetes or insulin resistance or are obese, there is less fat cell turnover, which releases vitamin D that was stored in fat cells. So less vitamin D is released to the resto of the body.
14:00 Vitamin d deficiency is 35 to 40% higher in overweight or obese people, or diabetics.
14:30 Vitamin D impacts many functions within the fat cell, including the upregulation of fat cell creation.
15:08 Lipid accumulation decreases with increasing calcitriol (125-dihydroxy vitamin D) dosages.
15:40 Fat cell inflammation is mediated by leptin.
16:40 Chronic activation of immune system cells can trigger inflammation in obesity related pathogenesis in which insulin resistance is involved.
17:03 Nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappa B) transcription factor triggers inflammatory cascades within your cells. Vitamin D can inhibit this NF-kappa B activation.
17:30 Overweight or obese individuals have a higher prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency.
18:00 Dosing of supplemental vitamin D should be based upon body fat and health status.
18:23 Vitamin D impacts calcium metabolism. The balance of calcium affects apoptosis, preprogrammed cell death.
    19:35 Serum vitamin D levels
20:00 Exercise helps to promote fat cell health and metabolism. It can mobilize fat cell lipids. Flux of fat cells is healthy. Fasting also promotes a healthy churn of your fat tissue.
22:00 With supplemental vitamin D, there are reductions in fasting glucose, hemoglobin A1C, and increases in triglycerides, improving metabolic health.

Anecdote on D and inflammation and perhaps histamine response: I was a runner for 36 years and spent much time outdoors. I suddenly stopped running and nearly 100% of my outdoor light exposure stopped. I then noticed higher “allergic” responses to foods, mosquito bites and bee stings. While I am not overweight and still maintain my 6’2” 165. I suspect I should get back outside and boost my bit D as it seems that bit D is critical to improving immunity.

Wow! About 6 months I started taking vitamin D because I learned it can help in the fight against Covid. I also started a cardio program to burn fat, I weighed around 169 and was hoping to burn off 10 pounds if I was lucky. I have tried many times to lose weight which is what kept me around 165-170. At present I'm at 154 and have been losing weight at a steady pace even after I stopped the cardio program 6 weeks ago. I couldn't understand why this time I lost so much but was of course over the moon. This explains or could explain why such a drastic weight loss. For reference I'm 49 so weight loss isn't easy

I just had my labs drawn earlier this month and my vitamin d was 67 ng/dL. I was surprised. I have been seeing a functional medicine practitioner for over 6 years and my levels have always ranged between 29-41. I guess my gut is finally healing and I’m absorbing better.

Anecdotal: In 2019 I had climbed up to 500 lbs after breaking my leg, tearing both my meniscus, and then the next year breaking my back. Now I supplement with D3 twice daily, as well as a bone density supplement with calcium, zinc, and magnesium, I eat red meat, dairy, and eggs relatively regularly, and I do a ketogenic diet, and I am unvaccinated for SARS-COV2. Never got COVID, haven't even had as much as a head cold outside of allergies in the last 5 years. I am a 40 yr old male with a BMI of around 45%, morbidly obese would be accurate. Hypertension has been a problem for me and I regulate it with 20mg of Lisinopril each morning. I began an exercise program and ketogenic diet in 2020, and lost about 100 lbs, to get where I am now which is about 395 lbs. I could not lose the weight until I started taking Vitamin D3 supplements twice daily consistently. I just had bariatric two weeks ago to combat the metabolic syndrome, and the only vitamin they give you is a multivitamin, so I started today taking my D3 again. I grind it up and mix it in some Greek yogurt. Whole diet right now is yogurt, bone broth, soup, soft cheeses. I am dropping weight like crazy because of the caloric restriction, the attention to micronutrients and gut biome. Even though its only about two weeks out from surgery I feel amazing and I wish I had done this right after I broke my leg, but the insurance wouldn't cover it. Moral of the story is, my wounds from surgery healed in like four days. I was up and walking ten laps around the hospital ward every two hours starting four hours after surgery. The nurses couldn't slow me down. Good nutrition is everything. Don't poison yourselves with garbage pretending to be food, and make sure you get you D3 and Calcium and the rest of your essential vitamins and minerals through any way you can, weather its raw foods or supplements. I will be back in the gym in a week and I cant wait to get to it. Also your videos are amazing! Thank you for the content and excellent explanations. I have taken lots of health courses at college and university including mid-tier chemistry, biology, and human physiology so I understand everything you are talking about most of the time. I haven't had to look anything up yet so that means you are doing a great job explaining! Thank you!

It was the most powerful medical intervention for a cold I have ever experienced. This all inspires me to get my old body in the sun again this year to help protect me from covid. Sun bathing also helped fight the arthrtis from vaccine damage 20 years ago when I got Hep B vaccinated. Sun light is more potent than supplement forms, but I can do both. I had a neighbor whose was a crazy old sunbather, wrinkled weathered deeply suntanned skinny (drinker) who died suddenly of total organ failure in his late-mid sixties, the year before covid broke out, so you do need to take care of other things and it doesn't take THAT much time in the sun. My father, a man of good shape, had issues for years with a bleeding rectum/anus.
I started having a similar issue in my forties during Winter bathroom pauses. I figured it was due to the 20 or 30 lbs weight fluctuation between Summer activities and sedentary Winter. I will also point out that prior to this, I was a monster consumer of milk. However, due to some other joint issues and such, I stopped with the milk consumption.
After years of experiencing a bleeding rectum/anus figuring it was an inherited due to my father's experience, I just thought it a getting older issue.
My seasonal weight increase/decrease tickled my brain since my Winter appetite is ravenous compared to Summer. So, I figured I'd try a Winter season with vitamin D supplements.

Years ago I worked selling supplements in a health store. A woman came to buy her Vit D and explained to me at length how it had miraculously changed her life from being predominently housebound to being able to function almost 'normally' within a 6 month period of initiating Vit D supplementation. May I add I get out into sunshine at every possible moment too. So pleased it helped your condition . 👍💖

It has to do with fat intake...you need to increase healthy fat in your diet..such as Virgin olive oil, wheat germ oil, avocado oil, walnut oil, M CT OIL...etc. Or eating hemp seeds will also relieve this issue. May God bless your journey 🤗

You are correct to emphasise getting your vit D level tested.
In February 2021 I had my vit D level tested 4 weeks after uping my supplementation from 2000 to 4000iu.
The result was 149.5 nmol/litre, at the top of the recommended range.
Fast forward to jan 2022 when I was retested. My level now is in exess of 250nmol/litre and I have hypervitaminosis D.
My serum calcium level is OK so hopefully I caught it in time before any damage done.
I am now avoiding vit D for the next 6 months whilste my level drops.

250 nmol/litre equates to an American reading of 100 ng/ml. My testing lab reference range for NORMAL is 30 to 100 ng/ml. Some labs have a 30-80 ng/ml reference range. When you were at 150 nmol/l, you were only at 60 ng ml. I wouldn't stop taking your Vitamin D altogether. Who wants to be deficient when Covid is still with us. You need to have a minimum level of 50 ng/ml to protect against serious Covid consequences. That would be a minimum level of 125 nmol/litre for you. Just reduce your dose proportionally. I guess your doc hasn't "gotten the memo." You might want to take Vitamin K2-MK4 to make sure your calcium goes into your bones instead of your arteries or kidneys. I do. Do some more reading on Vitamin D. I understand that many of the researchers think that levels up to 150 ng/ml are safe, and possibly higher. Just get tested. Hope you do well!

My dad told me to get my vitamin D levels check as i was over weight and not losing any fat. I found out i am extremely deficient so i took vitamin D and didnt do any exercise or physical activity specially to lose weight as i never dropped any weight with that and was disappointed. 3 months of taking vitamin D someone mentioned that i looked alot lean and suggested me to check my weight. I checked and was 8 kgs down without even trying first time in life i am just amazed to see the benefits of taking vitamin D in improving sleep , energy levels and good mood.

Good morning, it is 9:10 a.m. Pacific time. I noticed you have a link for vitamin d3, and I do notice that you do sell vitamin D3 K2 and the only reason I looked for it is because I know about K2. From what I know about all that I don't think I would ever want to buy just a vitamin D3 by itself. Unless I did eat natto or something else that has the vitamin K2.

So if I have fatty liver, which I'm pretty sure I have, as well as quite a bit of visceral fat, will taking vitamin D suppliments help or not? I did 3 months of just regular eating, training(long ruck marches) etc. I didn't feel terrible but i did not feel optimal. I went 3 months of an increased uptake of vitamin D3 from Walmart and my performance increased significantly as well as how i felt during recovery. It was comparable to when i was stationed at camp Pendleton California. I felt amazing. Is the generic vitamin D3 that's available at Walmart the same "vitamin D" that's being discussed in this video? Like, is "vitamin D" just a blanket term for D3,D4,D5 etc? Are they interchangable to a certain degree?

This also happened with D3 5,000IU. I take K2 and Magnesium along with these doses but only get drowsy mainly when I take my D3 I’ve noticed. I hear that I should be getting more energy rather than being lethargic after the dose ..

After the first dose it seems my brain fog and anxiety has lightened but the fatigue is still lingering. after my first dose I felt energy but it’s been downhill with fatigue ever since my 2nd week dose of 50,000iu, seems odd as how my fatigue symptom is on and off but now flares up with d3 supplement..
