I like that the engineers put some effort into making this furby a bit more long lasting with that anti-fraying step. So many companies would just skip the step and end up with a product that would break frequently.

You guys have like a "Tour" page like musicians so I can see which of my favorite RUclipsrs you're going to be visiting next? You've hit a couple now...
      Here's some recommendations:
Recording Studio Loser: compare a $200 microphone with a $8,000 one
Tring Shoe Repair - I realize he already takes shoes apart, but seeing the components in situ sounds intriguing
Lincoln St. Woodworks - lots of power tools and guy loves to compare stuff
Connections Museum - vintage telephone equipment from the 20s-60s
Adrian's Digital Basement - early integrated circuits like the SID chip or 1MB hard drive
CuriousMarc - Apollo equipment, aviation instrumentation, vintage test equipment
Look Mum No Computer - really just want to see inside his brain

    4:50 "saving fractions of pennies"
These kinds of cost-savings can be surprisingly significant, it's not just paying for a package, the chip has to be put inside the package, tested, sealed, probably tested again, marked, labeled, packaged, shipped, picked, placed, soldered etc. It all adds up quite quickly.
It's like how your CD-player comes with a manual in 15 languages; It's simply cheaper to print all those manuals and then have boxes that can go anywhere, than to keep track of which boxes hold which languages and which countries they can go to. Boxing manuals on demand is not an option and when units are required elsewhere, re-boxing is a complete waste of time, so they just put all languages in all boxes and surprisingly: save money.
    Logistics.

I spent a good couple hours pouring over the CT scans, absolutely enthralled the whole time as I identified components before I watched this video :D
The motor assembly has a leaf switch as a home sensor for when the programming drum does a full revolution, and I'm guessing the encoder allows the computer to track the motor, so the motor can move the programming wheel to certain places to control things like the feet, ears, eyes and mouth

Just did disassembled my daughter"s. It has been a real PIA. The front button was not working properly so i was wondering if a small plastic part was broken. The fur is terrible to remove, ans those pink anchor have clearly been made to make it easier/quicker to assemble, and probably to be more "repairable" on the papers. In reality, it's pretty much impossible to unlock them without damaging a few.
    Good luck reassembling it...

@@mvivanc I took out the batteries before putting it back in its box to return it to the store, I made the decision not to open it because I still had a few days to get a refund or an exchange. The time to return it to the store I had the instinct to try it again and magically it worked like a new one. I think to have taken the batteries out overnight to erase the memory. It has worked very well since that day.

I don't find any Furby to be creepy. Furby Connect was not the best design though with the loops for ears, and wiggling side to side instead of forward and back, and what a battery-hog that model was.
