I am again hurled into the world of Driver and Irene. He is the Man with No Name, she no longer hesitates to go with him to that dark place where she needs have no fear. This song IS cinema, from Leone "I knew someone like you once and there was no one there to help" to Brandon Lee "“Mother is the name of god on the lips and hearts of little children" to Driver " I have to go somewhere and I don't think I can come back. But I just wanted you to know. Getting to be around you and Benicio was the best thing that ever happened to me". This beautiful song is to me, the embodiment of the Hero of a Thousand Faces. As I draw nearer to the falling dark and my own days grow short, " I want to ride with you into the storm indeed". Thank you for this treasure!!
This is like the exact opposite of night drive(as in the album) lol... the video is suggestive of night drive though ... if anything time rider is marking a new era and a new sound for IDIB and chromatics bringing that into manifestation
What a beautiful and gorgeous song and video, I love Chromatics sooo much! My favourite band of all time. And I also love IDIB, I'd consider them the best music label these days! They don't just release some of the best music ever made, I also love all the IDIB Vinyl releases. They are just beautiful, have an extremely high quality, even the vinyls look unbelievebly great and somtimes they're 45rpm LPs (like Closer to Grey or After Dark 3). I'm still hoping for Dear Tommy to be released some day, but even without Chromatics IDIB releases some of the best music I know. Thank you Chromatics, thank you IDIB and also thank you to all the other great IDIB artists.
There's something about the atmosphere you guys create that makes me feel this kind of pleasure and numbness that only drugs had achieved to do in the past. When i start listening to your sound i honestly never know when i'm gonna stop. Black Walls had me sitted for three hours the first time i listened it. I'm very careful with what i let through my ears and your music is and always will be, welcome. Plenty of songs and remixes from your store are permanent in my mp3 player. It was a fantastic surprise to find you guys playing at the legendary Roadhouse from Twin Peaks. My most sincere Thank You to, Johnny, Ruth, Adam, Nat and pretty much everyone involved in the creation of your music. It certainly did find a special place.
Honestly, someone should make a documentary feature length film covering last 5 years of Chromatics history / Dear Tommy making of. This journey has been so unforgettable for everyone involved (in both good & not so good ways). This is so fascinating, that all my friends and even my family (!) knows all the details, and always curious about major plot developments (like this video for example) 🍏 thank you IDIB, for keeping us all on the edge of our sits
it's definitely a fascinating story with all of the plot twists of a mystery paperback. Johnny Jewel is incredibly private though & doesn't allow cameras around the bands process. we will have to dig for those clues within the songs themselves. the lyrics to the album are full of reality.
