Hay. Like. Google: The road was built by 1,300 young volunteers and more than 1,000 citizens of 16 ethnic groups to help the mountainous region keep pace with the lowlands. Started on March 29, 1959, the road was finally completed on June 15, 1965 after 6 years of painstakingly chiseled without the support of machines.

Did this a few months ago with Jasmine, amazing trip! Another plus point with being in a group is the leader can often help communicate and negotiate if you get stopped at any police checkpoint which happened to me on the second day, ended up getting let off! 100% wanna return and do it in a smaller group in the future

Just want to say thank you for the video - I’ve just subscribed as a result. My daughter and her friend are on their second week of a two month adventure in Asia and are doing this trip (in a group thankfully!) in less than two weeks time and it’s been great seeing some of the things they will see. You’re obviously very experienced with the bikes, my daughter isn’t! Which is why I’m reassured that they’re going the easy rider route! It looks incredible. Maybe when I retire!
    Thanks again.

Joe, I think it would be better for you to point the camera at the scenery than yourself as a lot of the video, you're saying how awesome it is but then we only see your face! LOL! I understand the weather was a bit overcast/foggy so we won't get as much of the beautiful scenery, but I think vloggers whom point the camera at themselves in scenic locations ruins it as the viewers wanna see the scenes (we already know what you look like :)).

Very cool video and you are both lovely. Love all the 'scary stuff about China' and good on you getting to that odd fence which is not an official border crossing at all and you referensce the cameras you could see. What you don't reference are those you could not but they could see you! And they don't care. But you do need a visa to go to one of the greatest countries in the world together with Vietnam - China. If you crossed though they would not be impressed if not very unimpressed but the story would be told for generations... I like that you imagine you were not being watched except from the one camera. Great video! Well done! J

How's the SouthEastAsian Honda Bike? Is it Good Enough in that Loop?

I'm hoping to cycle the ha giang loop with my partner (not on a tour). We will take a tent in case we can't find places to stay en route, but just wondering if you think we would be okay finding food places on the route? And hoping to not spend every night in the tent, do you think there will be availability if we rock up?

We didn’t prebook any accommodation on the route, there are fairly frequent towns throughout the loop which have basic hotels you can stay at. I honestly don’t think you’ll need to camp at all!

And food will be easy to find too

@@Joelfriend That's really helpful thank you.. Didn't want to carry a tent anyway, we will just chance it then 🙂

Are there any restrictions with the motorbikes if you are a bit overweight? I'm concerned that because of my weight there might be an issue. Im 20 stone and 1.80cm tall.

Yes but it’s also a great time to do it as there is not much rain, in the summer it is warmer but not as warm as other parts of Vietnam as it’s in the mountains!

I'm interested. Seems you have camera fixed to bike in various positions. If I may ask, what camera, phone or something else.... what type of fixing.
    Many thanks.

Los Angeles has more ethnic groups than that. Its been said that LA is #1 for most diverse having every ethnic group outside of a native country. I literally can name more than 17 right now.
