    Great video! This shows the importance of using a tarp over the tent to shed snow. If the tarp is big enough for overhang all around, it will help keep the snow away from the walls too.

    Steve great job presenting the good and the not-so-good in your 100-day review👍. I’m impressed with the tent as it holds up to the foul weather. The sagging roof is always a point of contention with external framed tents. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge 😎

    you can turn the sod cloth to the outside of the enclosure andpile snow onto the sod cloth. this will stop all air and snow from coming into the porch area. This is basically what the sod cloth is for

    On the awning area, if you will put the bottom flap on the outside, instead of the inside, then as it snows, pile snow on top of the flap and you won't get snow blowing in. Another trick is to go around the edge and dig a shallow trench, put the flap into it and put the dirt back on top of that flap. You won't even get bugs that way, and you don't have to worry about the wind blowing water, or snow under the wall. One more suggestion is to have a paint roller. you can take the roller and roll from the apex to the side wall and it will cause the snow to cascade down. The soft roller is easier on the canvas and you don't develop water seepage where you touched it as sometimes happens., not to mention it is a lot faster.
    This is just a couple of the tricks I have learned in my years of tent camping and also living in a tent for over a year.

    • @Competitiveedgeproducts
      @Competitiveedgeproducts  Год назад +1

      Paint roller is very clever. I'll have to try that.

    Ordered a Flexbow 10x14 and the Cabin Lodge with awning enclosure after watching your reviews. Sure a lot more affordable than buying an RV camp trailer like the majority of neighbors during this pandemic. Plus we prefer tent camping and the remote access it allows. 2 weeks in the Flexbow this summer so far. What a great tent. The family all gave it a universal thumbs up. A bit warm when the heat cranks up. The extra ventilation of the VX would be a good thing, but not a deal breaker by any means. We prefer less windows when the temp drops. So it is a wash. Hard rains with not a drop leaking into the tent. Heavy, but that is expected with this quality. Gearing up to use the Cabin Lodge in the coming Fall. Purchased a Colorado Cylinder Stove and bunk cots. Looking forward to it. Great tents with amazing quality. Thank you for the detailed reviews. Very helpful! Random question as it crosses my mind as I rewatched this video for the umpteenth time - did you ever find a solution for the dripping sizzle onto the stove? Did the clamp work?

  • @3rdeyespy967

    I'm in love with my 2person Flexbow, what a tent that thing is, it's so high quality feeling all over, from the floor, the canvas, the zippers, the tent poles, everything is nice and high quality, it's my favorite tent I've ever owned already, it's just so nice, I think I'm going to buy the Kodiak z top sleeping bag as well, that thing looks super duper cozy

    • @Competitiveedgeproducts
      @Competitiveedgeproducts  4 года назад

      Oh, I hear ya. That is a clear winner to all the elements over any tent I've used as well. I think you'll love the sleeping bag. I bought one, my father in law has one, my son uses it for scout camp, it's impressive. Don't forget your beenie though.

    What is the wind rating for these tents? In Wyoming we get many days with lots of high winds.

    • @bensmith4563
      @bensmith4563 2 года назад

      Wyoming wind can be quite ferocious

    • @Austinsairplanes
      @Austinsairplanes Год назад

      We had ours up in Wyoming wind, it did hold up but the wind kept trying to pull the stakes out and we had to keep resetting stakes.
      The vestibule is the weak link, the poles aren't secured at the bottom and the wind can push them out of place if I did it again I would double the amount of stakes and ropes, 2 ropes per pole all the way around.

    This is a great video. Probably a dumb question but if you opened up the tent with the stove cranking could the canvas area get warm?

    • @Competitiveedgeproducts
      @Competitiveedgeproducts  Год назад

      Good question. If you had the stove going good and opened a window you can feel the temperature drop quickly, but it still acts much better than a fire pit as it traps a lot of heat in that peaked ceiling. If the temperature outside isn't too cold you can get away with a stove and having a window wide open. Very cold temps around 15 degrees are a different story. The heat seems to escape faster with a window open.

    Wow what another great video and to see the tent holding up in such winter conditions and wind and everything is a true testament to the quality of the Kodiak canvas tent product!.. I'm definitely getting one of these when I come back from my travels to place on my property up in the mountains.. But one question I have is about the sound. How much of the outside noise can be heard inside of the tent? And is it distracting? Like rain , neighbors critters etc...

    • @Competitiveedgeproducts
      @Competitiveedgeproducts  4 года назад

      Yes, yes, and yes. You can hear everything around and distracting depends on your personality. Sleeping in the tent in the backyard with my kids is always distracting when I hear cars racing up and down the street for sure. But, on the other hand, I love when it rains. The canvas is stretched tight and each drop makes a sound - altogether some relaxing white noise (for me). When there is snow on the tent and around you hear less noise, but still hear some. In one of my videos the neighbor's dog wouldn't stop barking and you could easily hear it. But out camping I love the noises of hearing the leaves rustle in the trees. Long story short you can easily hear through the canvas.

You said it was really warm inside but kept your jacket zipped up so I'm wanting to know what "warm" actually means XD I have really extreme weather here. Also, is removing the snow load from the roof as simple as knocking the roof from the inside, or does it require going outside to sweep it off?
