Great video. I appreciate the unbiased review of both. I haven't owned a cabin tent, but we have a big cheap walmart tent and a bell tent. One advantage I would add for the bell tent is it's footprint for the size of the tent. Our bell tent has more sq ft of interior space than the rectangular tent, but I find it easier to set up in small sites. The rectangular tent is just not very flexible in terms of the space that it needs. The single-pole design of the bell tent is really flexible, and the round footprint is easier to find space for than our big rectangular tent. I've set mine up in areas where the floor wasn't all level, and as long as your lines are tight the tent will stand up fine.
@@Leosooter agreeed!! We sleep on the ground some not just cots. When we do that we have more sq ft than the cabin. The more we have used it the more I appreciate the ease of set up/tear down of the bell tent.
I'm not familiar with the Kodiak tent but I've used Bell tents and the quality and reliability is excellent. It would be my go to for a solid base camp tent if I was car camping with family.
@@jonfisher9214 we really like them. Just picked up a smaller one we are about to do an initial review on with some COLD weather camping. We love the speed of set up. Never going back to a cabin tent!
@@XenusMama I haven’t had to ride one out yet, but it seems like it’s built real tough. I think the 4m will do even better because it is less material.
I agree with the stake and pole bags on the Kodiak, but I haven't had a single issue getting the tent back in the bag. I guess I just have a routine and do it the same way every time. I actually always make mention when showing it off how I always have a little room left in the bag unlike the cheap Walmart tents. Anyways, great review! I want a bell tent soon just to have as an option when going camping.
So for some reason we had 2 tents and 2 different sized bags. One we always had a TON of room. Mine we could never get it back in. Not sure what the deal was! Guy that just bought it from me said oh I'll get it in the bag...and couldn't 🤣 Thanks for watching! We enjoyed the Kodiaks. LOVE the bell tents!! We do a lot of quick trips just because its hard to get away for long trips with work and kiddos. Speed kills.
It would look cool if you could paint a big bear paw on it. We use to have a similar designed army tent that we used elk hunting with a single pole and it held up to the weather just fine. Take care
Just watched with both of us; noteworthy is that 33 minutes for setup was your 50th setup but the 20 minutes was your second setup on the bell… or are my numbers off?
@@devannichols5550 you got it!! We are going to get a smaller Stout bell tent for trips when it is only 1 family or just me and Chase are out for a night hunting. Then it will be even faster!!
