THE WIDE BODY!! 😍 And 6 cylinders! Which is no surprise to RBR viewers as we predicted this many times! And it’s also then no surprise to you that this #AMG 53 likely shares the same body as the next version, which is the 63 e performance!
Smart move by #MercedesAMG
They know the market for their 2 door coupes is one that is demanding of emotion. And with the fallout of the 4 cylinder AMG C63 being unanimously hated: they’re giving the more attractive entry level car more attractiveness!
Instead of the 4 pot, the new #CLE53 4MATIC+ uses an upgraded version of the 3.0-litre M 256 inline six-cylinder turbo engine. The facelift of the engine is now designated M 256M has 20HP more at 450HP thanks to optimized combustion chambers, new piston rings and a new larger exhaust gas turbocharger!
It also has a new electric additional compressor, with more boost pressure of 0.4 bar to 1.5 bar. This gives us more torque than before of 560 Nm continuous or 600 Nm in overboost for up to 12 seconds.
More important torque figure, is how accessible it is thanks to that new compressor. It can now be operated almost continuously over a longer period of time.
There’s a new second-gen integrated starter generator (ISG) which is now integrated into the gearbox bell housing. This gives 23 hp of power and 205 Newton meters of torque, which is less than the old one which gave 250NM. No one can tell me why! I’ll let you hopefully know in the next video.
However, it’s .5 quicker to 60 than the previous E53! So lots of other changes helping it be faster.
Strangely we have the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission, not the MCT from the E63/C63/GT etc. This is a torque converter transmission, instead of multi clutch, so will it shift slower? Time will tell.
AMG ride control suspension like the other flagship cars is also in this car, it’s a steel-spring suspension with Adaptive Damping.
Our car today has the “AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package “ which gives Race mode with drift mode, Active engine mounts, Red callipers and the Microfibre steering wheel.
Today we’ll check every detail in and out, as well as make a tonne of comparisons to cars like the previous C63S coupe and BMW’s M440i.

I love the rims especially. This is such ab awesome looking car and they didn’t mess up with a 4 cylinder. Hats off to Mercedes. If they give the C63 a V8 or 6 cylinder whether it’s hybrid or mild hybrid they can really make the CLE such an iconic class
@@iosgaming2824c63 will not be getting a v6 or v8 . They are sticking with the 2.0 hybrid which is much faster than the old v8 , they released a statement saying the next c63 will be full electric .

The thing I like, you have to look twice to see if it's a CLE or the old C63s. For that reason I think the second hand market will warm up over the next few years given the EV push and most AMG drivers not wanting a bar of it

Great looking car, love it. If I may suggest a small interior improvements would be to have some physical buttons as well as the touchscreen. It just gives the car abit of personality. Also the digital cockpit shape is very standard. I would like to see the shape of the screen been changed to something abit more attractive. I would say that would make the car interior better looking for sure

if the CLE63 comes with a four cylinder hybrid, like the C63s E-Performance, i'd prefer the less powerful CLE53
I’m so confused now. I was about to buy the 2024 cla45s as it releases in the us for the first time next year but idk if the CLE 53 might be a better choice.

Full fat body. It’s pretty under done. The E53 has always been a curious choice. Certainly not worth the money when compared against the previous c63, current m cars.

At this point we have *no idea* if they'd do this. They claim that this model combines the C & E, but there's never been an e63s coupe, yet this car feels more C than E, then again, C classes get the 4-banger but E's get the v8...

Kinda interesting, if this 53 is a 6 pot, and the new cle63 is gonna be a 4 pot. AMG are about to see a weird trend in their sales. People still aren’t ordering c63 like projected, it’s a certified sales flop but the standard CLE and CLE53 are gonna sell well. To the point were I think CLE53 will outsell C63 and probably match CLE63 sales. AMG f’d up so bad with the 4 pot😂

They did not bring it back at all instead. CLE is a e class and c class coupe replacement that means postioned above the c class so obviously they gave the cle a i6 turbo engine .
If the 63 is to have the 4 cylinder engine then I’d rather the 53 with it looking like this.
I was lukewarm on the CLE, until this! As a previous 4 series owner, I hate the current 4 series rear side window and snout. But this is something to contemplate if you cannot afford the SL, and you hate the way BMW style has gone.
New BMW with big nose has totally grown on me and I love it
The only part of an M4 the driver of this CLE will see is the rear end as it disapears into the distance.

Current daily is my C43 coupe. After seeing so many vanilla vehicles being launched recently by MB and others, this CLE 53 nails it. I just need a one careful owner, to run the CLE 53 for a few years and who knows, it could with luck be mine!

Nice , I'd have this CLE53 over the 63 . I also like the fact that they put in effort to make look different from the 450 version. The one thing I'm mostly impressed by is the suspension. Hopefully it's going to drive much more different than the 450 around the corners .

We had the C63 with the V8, the E53 pure class pillar less V6, and the bargain C43 with V6. This will be more expensive than all of those. Don't get fooled, folks.

This doesnt look good for the BWW design team lol. 10 times better then the M4 and Ive been driving BMW but this model might change it.
The problem with bmw design is they cant make the signature snout work, and they cant make do without it.
BMW can't get looks right, Merc can't get the power train right, dare I say Audi is the Goldilocks
@crb003 I would argue that it was purposely made as so to differentiate themselves as luxury opposed to bmws sportiness, they are very well capable to setup their cars to tilt on performance rather they strategies to cater to a differentiate type of buyers.
This will probably be my next car. Going to hit up my local dealership see if I can get a good lease on this CLE53. I used to own a C63 coupe and I regret selling it, although I did sell at a great price at the height of covid.
Thank you Mercedes, I almost gave up on you! That’s a proper beastie coupe with decent engine for mortals who don’t want to drop all the cash on the GT👏😍. Still don’t like the steering wheel and door touch buttons nor the greater dependence on the touchscreen for simple commands, but everything else seems great! Hmm…do I consider one after my ‘21 RS5 (which is awesome with same power btw)?🤔🍺

The side profile continues to be the weak spot of this design. The back wheels look comically small and out of place. The dumb silver banding on the wheels make them look even smaller. Just not good.
A 6 cylinder and everyone is cheering, smh. Well, it’s better than the 4 cylinder.

This is not meant to compete with M4. This would be similar to a 4 series with an M Sport Package. The CLE63 is what would be on the same playing field, and would demolish it!

I had a 2018 C43 that sounds fantastic. Pops and bangs on demand. With some tuning and down pipe this might sounds as good. Regulations have muffled all cars after 2018 more and more

well done merc great looker brilliant combo of e class and c lass replacement for the e53 coupe - which was also very good looking. amazing how they are getting it so right for Ice, so wrong for evs and bmw can't do either ! shame its underpowered versus competition.....

Great looking car but once I finally buy an E63s then I'm fairly certain it'll be my last AMG. We had a great run but 3 AMGs in my shed should be enough.

Merc has the M177 from the base GT63 with 577hp/590tq just sitting in the corner collecting dust. This 53 shit is just not it. AMG is dying little by little, and it’s unwatchable😢 if there is a 63 version of this, I hope it’s a V8.
Btw: that engine in the W206 C63 wit 4matic+ would’ve been an automatic sell out car.
Also, a 53 will never see a 40i BMW on Merc’s best n BMWs worst day 😂
