  • To celebrate the 2024 edition of the UCI DH in Les Gets it would be a good time to reflect on how far the sport has progressed in 22years. 2002 I was filming Steve Peat and the other Orange DH riders for a freelance project. I didn't start at 4130 publishing the home of Dirt Magazine until November 2002 however this footage still made the DVD extras of Earthed 1. Steve took silver place in Kaprun for the world champs a week before he was devastated not to win there but in this episode of UnEarthed we see Steve claim the World Cup Overall points title for the first time by winning here in Les Gets. This is my raw content from practice, qualifying and finals. If you like this please stay tuned for more retro content. Also maybe follow @alex_rankin on instagram for latest video drops.

Amazing. The bikes look so small and the front ends are so upright. I'm proud to say I had an orange ms isle mk 1. Adored it until it got nicked😢.

so many Intense M-1's out there. Having been around back then (and before then), it's looks at the 'old days' that we all forgot about, really show how far the bikes and clothing has come.....stretchy fabrics really are far more comfortable to ride in!

This is fantastic! Suspension was terrible for everyone the number of bottom outs heard is amazing. The only thing better about today is bikes don't sound like a paint can full of nails thrown down the hill. DH is my spirit animal the clock tells no lies, no judges it really is the best! Thank you Alex!

Aahhh yesss 🙌🏻 Back to the good-old days, when most high-end MTB manufacturers made tough reliable bikes out of aluminum and not the made in Taiwan carbon fiber plastic bikes of today….and back when bikes were made in the country the company/brand was actually from 👍🏻 Thanks for posting 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Fortunately some of those companies still exist, and are still making tough reliable bikes out of aluminium in their home countries.

Most dh are still aluminum. For trail and xc carbon is beneficial if you pay for one built well.
