Thank you for showing that a bit of cleanup can make the trains sparkle. And saving these beautiful postwar Lionel trains from being scrapped into the junkyard makes this collection enjoyable because your restoration is rewarding. All of the cars are fantastic. I remember seeing a different version of your chopper car. And it was the light blue model with the solid yellow chopper. When it soared, the entire body of the helicopter rotated! However, I remember the chopper elevating roughly twelve inches. I'm impressed.
That was a great save, and great haul! You got some excellent Lionel pieces. I look forward to your restorations of the rolling stock and the locomotives. Tom
Some people sell these things on Ebay, the more damaged and rotted, the lower the price they usually go for. I've bought several pieces from there that were advertised as 'not working', 'does not run', and 'for parts only', and attempted to restore them to operating condition with mixed success.
With some elbow grease a lot of these pieces will look great, and some restoration work will bring those engines back to life. Ther are some nice pieces in that collection.
Hey, isn't it great when loveless and homeless Lionels find YOU? Yes, there's forces at work in the world beyond our understanding! Best o' luck on the rest of the restorations!
Thanks for sharing a really great find. "Happy Rails". GMan

AWESOME FIND! Think I'm going to become a sanitary engineer! :)😄
