- Inner exhaust shield vibrates when cold,go away when it is hot, because the shield expanded already.it is a aluminum shield which can be bend a little so it will create a curve so it wont vibrate anymore and won't make a rattling sound.just push it towards the back and you're all set.beware or the manifold shield bolt, it tends to break easily.

Hell Yeah Carlos! You just potentially saved me from returning my car!
Forgot to add.it fixed minr after this video.so its up to you.good luck! Rattlng only on cold start ,when manifold heats up the aluminum shield expand and that is why rattling goes away and returns when engine begun to cool down again.
Mine was the bottom one. After adjusting, the rattle noise gone but broke two bottom side screws. It holds up but a bit shake when engine running. Thanks op.
After a year the bottom one starts making noise too. I took it off since i broke every bolt, all good.
Good video
Thank you!!!!
How much is it to replace shield?
I have the same problem !!!! Thank You
Bolt break as you said.. Like the half of the bolt on the car. I hate nissan.
And if we had that rattle, It's because this damn engine is shaking at 1500 rpm.
It’s the exhaust manifold pipe. See how the one in this video is dented? My 16 is somehow dented in that SAME spot! Have an appointment next week. It has a leak where it connects. Probably same for everyone else. I think someone at the assembly line hated their job and thought that since it’s covered up by a shield no one would notice.
This is exactly what my 2016 Altima does 😮
Check all heat shield, do the bottom ones first under the engine, i removed mine.
@@wsu610what did you replace them with?
@@jonathantenorio8829nothing, i took it off.
Any updates on this? My 2016 Nissan Altima 2.5 S keeps making this exact same noise starting from cold boot. It only lasts about 15 to 30 seconds but it’s annoying lol
The exhaust shield he was messing with. Did you ever repair yours?
What did you do to stop this ? I have the same issue😮
I have the same problem.
It is the timing chain, timing guides, and tensioner. I am getting mine fixed as we speak and should be good as new
What year? I have a 2015 altima , just bought and its 22 degrees this morning and heard a loud rattling noise! I suspected the timing chain as well
Did it fix your problem?
Nope.its the shield my friends
gosh i wish u can stop mines🤦🏽♀️
How did you fix it???
Take off the front heat cover as you can see in the video without it already.so just push back the shield, its soft so its easy to push it back.that shield vibrates when cold as it makes rattling noise, when it gets hot shield expand and noise go away.
carlos landayan thank you so much. I’ve been dealing with this for 3 years now and no one had a clue what was wrong. Thank you!!!
@@Dre_savage same
yeah its that damn heat shield vibrating annoying as hell because it can get loud
Watch out. Screw tend to break ! I broke two of 4 screws, now I fixed, but still have a little noise because now the plate missed screw
Yah I have the same thing for 1 minute on start up. And before that a rattle above the catalytic converter removed that shield. Problem solved 101%. It seems all these shields were poorly made /designed. And drive people crazy. It's not the VVT variable valve
The noise coming from mine is much louder
It’s not the shield buddy. And weirdly enough your exhaust manifold pipe has a dent EXACTLY where my 16’ does!! Well that specific pipe has a leak where it connects!! Next time you do a cold start have your hood open see if you see bubbles. Wtf. I have an appointment next week. Just hope they don’t think I’m the one who dented that shit!
I thought it maybe that as well on my 2015 Altima
Fixed mine after this video
@@wsu610 Mine made that noise even after taking shields off. It was as stated above. If it solved yours that’s good.
@@NissanAltimaGuy maybe yours have different issue.
I got the same noise. Definitely the heat shield
