If it is, and the balancer shafts are still engaged with the crankshaft ie, still working, you can clean the oil pump pick up screen. All you need is a $30 Felpro (mfg) oli pan gasket. Its not hard. Drain the oil first. Do it when engine is cold
Oil changes don't prevent vvt rattle on cold starts... Its just a faulty design. The pin usually has a spring that wears out over time no matter how good your maintenance is. Edit: Frequent oil changes can prolong the problem until later. But it will happen sooner or later.

i’ve replaced the solenoid and the connection to the solenoid, and still rattles and feels low on power, just can’t figure it out, check engine light went away but the problems didn’t
So, the symptoms are: timing chain hits the guide on cold start up. there are could be few reasons: 1- (like you said VVT Sprocket), 2- VVT Solenoid malfunction and/or Oil Filter Screen clogged (basically, not enough or no oil going to VVT Sprocket, not to mention electrical issue with the solenoid), 3 - timing chain tensioner is worn. In the book, its even offering to take a look of crankshaft thrust bearing (hmmm, interesting - thinking of noise comes from the bottom of the engine - on cold startup as well)
To be honest its not very loud. Most of the noise comes from the actuator and fault, but the cause is a partially blocked oil pickup screen. So even after installing new vvts , check oil pick up screen. Otherwuse this may happen again.
So the cause is low oil pressure at start up and the best way to solve is to not replace the oil pump but to replace the actuator ?? Could've at least shown the bad new part installed by the factory in all engines that needs replacing with another new bad part. What is the real solution ?
If you have a 2014 Honda Accord Sport, double check because changing the actuator at the shop is expensive! Your problem is the timing chain tensioner. The part is around $50!
