      Hmm, perhaps a Bovine base. You know the cattle family 🐄. Bulls, Dariy Cows, Longhorns, Brahmas etc.

    First time suit maker and I am so grateful for this pattern! Made a couple of alterations for my sona (also 7 & 8 did noooot wanna meet up properly for me lol) and made the nose out of foam, but soooooo useful as a general guide! Thank you

    is there a way i can attach this to a bucket head base and how can i add the insides of the mouth(teeth and tongue) while still leaving a gap air-hole. Also other than the head and jaw band is there a way to get the mouth to open in way so i can fit a water bottle through the mouth?

    Question...is an Eva foam head less heat retaining than a upholstery foam one?

    Can the ears also be made using Eva foam that’s been made to curve with the heat gun? Or is it better to use upholstery foam? My suit will have larger ears and I feel I’d have a had time carving them.

    Question: Do you need a head model to sculpt clay on or could you just sculpt out how you want the shape to look? If you do need a head model, would it be okay if one were to sculpt one out of the clay itself and then make the model on it?

      Yeah, I bet it does take quite a bit! My mom had bought me some clay but it absolutely sucks so I'm going to go get more sometime soon 😅

      @@kenopsiadraws I recommend Fimo soft, (thats what i used) or Sculpey. I have had experience with other clays as well, such as cernit, and decoration clays, and they hold up and color different than those two. Also i recommend getting black or an other dark color since white stains, and fingerprints in the clay wont affect the appearance. lol (not that it matters too much lol)

    What would be good alternatives for contact cement? I thought maybe super glue, but that can be brittle.

      I don't recommend super glue, it's mostly used for small details, and it would be expensive compared to contact cement

      High density is more difficult to shape

      I know I’m late but it’s probably just any pieces that sit on pieces that are more corner-like (in the example shown, the ridge on the eyebrow), kind of like how picture frames have triangles cut out on the corners for them to fit together neatly

    Isn’t a heat gun sorta dangerous? Idk, my dad used to tell me that a lot and that I shouldn’t touch the heated material for a few minutes?

      It can be depending on the material! Eva foam cools down quite quickly so it's okay to touch a few seconds later

    I love EVA bases! this tutorial was really helpful. I want to try this in the future!! Question, can this technique work with upholstery foam? Also, how do you actually scale the model up 300 so it's to size, and when taking a photo how do you know if you're not making the pieces smaller or bigger from how you take the picture?

      I haven't tested and you can't heat shape upholstery foam

      I look at the model shape and see where there are sharper edges

      Sorry, most glues are toxic, and if you use hot glue the base will fall apart when you heat shape it

      Not when you are going to heat shape it. It will fall apart when you use the heat gun

    I'm a little teeny tiny bit worried, won't the fur be too heavy on the head? I'm really sorry if I insulted you in any way. I was just wondering, because I've never worked with an EVA-Base but I want to use your template for a head and yeah... Do I need some reinforcement structure underneat before furring? Like some sort of thermoplast or smth? It would be really nice if you or somebody out of the community can help :)

    I wonder if it's possible to do this but without using a clay head model and sizing it because I am trying to make my own fursuit head base and I'm worried that it won't work if I just draw a template on paper and so on.
    I bought eva foam and supplies now waiting on money to get my fur among other things and I wanna have the head base down before

      You need something to make the template from. If you want to make a base like this (EVA foam) you can't just draw the template on paper. The only other way (if you only want to use EVA foam) would be to buy a finished template

    Do you think a skulldog from Bueshangs creations would fit inside of the head base? I know they are bigger than the skulldogs from Dream Vision Creations and Im trying to make a skulldog with a removable face.

      I think you could but it will be more difficult to work with and you might have to heat shape the pieces first

    So, I am gonna make a fursuit head where the head would spin 360 degrees, now I know that all fursuits can do that, but I really want the head to remotely spin. How would I do that?

      What do you mean? Just to turn the fursuit around your own head? Because most fursuits do that. I have a suit based on one of mugiwara's patterns and it does it :v

      @@masonc5470 most fursuits can do that (minus the bone cracking sounds) so you should be fine! If your fursuit is too tight to turn around then I'd be concerned lol
