Dad has Surgery

- This video takes you through our MOES procedure beginning to end. Very difficult with a dementia patient. Dad pulled off his bandage between 5 (last time it was seen on) and 7 am when it was gone. But we anticipated that and the surgeon glued the incision over the stitches. No bleeding so far. Fingers crossed.
It’s MOHS procedure (thanks to the retired teacher). I apologize for the error.
Micrographically oriented histographic surgery (MOHS) in honor of the surgeon who developed the technique, Frederick Mohs
Who’s the retired teacher?
Or, is it retired doctor? 🧐
Ceral breakfasts are no good for him. Try low carb keto diet. Moderate protein high fat may help with dementia Hood luck love and best wishes ❤
God bless to your dad
Sending best wishes & speedy recovery from, Ireland 🇮🇪, 🙏☘️. Xx
Yes he sure is a tank. ❤🎉🎉
I'm 75 and my son is only 20 minutes away and hasn't come to see his mother in 11 months. This man is so blessed to have such an awesome son.
So sorry to hear this, maybe give your son a call 📞..it may make him think ,some peeps need to be told x❤

@@alphonserobichaud1278 sad to know about this sir, sadly this is normality of majority of today’s children Please don’t be upset or sad n waste your energy just concentrate on being happy with you have.
I am so sorry, i am exactly in the same situation. 😢
@@alphonserobichaud1278 Good day to you both. 💐♥️
It is amazing how he can still access his professional knowledge, even with the dementia. He's a lovely person and it's wonderful how you take care of him. 😊❤
From his long-term memory bank
It's because it's very ingrained, because the knowledge was critical and used daily for decades
Same as the late Glen Campbell. He couldn't remember the names of his family members, but he remembered every song he had ever sung. Get well soon, Dr. Salinger. ❤
what nice son
Im finding I already have a bit of an issue with the same thing.
I can remember what I did as a child & medical training, however ask me when I go to the grocery store what I was supposed to get--- 🤔 💭... I ALWAYS forget a few things or I forget what time I take medication and things like that.
My better 1/2 is worse. She can't seem to remember either, but think her short term is a bit better than mine, but for some reason she can't remember many things or places we went years ago.
Not sure which is more worrisome. 😅
Awwwww....please give Grandpa Ed a big hug from all of his admirers and supporters. We ❤ him so much!
Every parents dream is that their kids would help as much as you have your dad…I’m so proud of you Dan and your brother all you do makes me at 70 years old hope if I get In This way I’ll be blessed enough to have a son like you and your brother!
And Danielle!!❤
With such kindness if you adopt me, I would take care of you. Be blessed leave worry to the Lord.
Not everyone is free to or has the temperament to look after the elderly, especially with dementia. It's a very hard row to hoe, but well worth it.
As a parent my dream is not to be a burden on my son.
@@Caladonia I was told I would be blessed for taking care of my mother. I replied that I'd already been blessed to have had such a good mother, and anyway, she's not heavy, she's my mother.
You’re an awesome son Dan and I love your family. Thank you for sharing your awesome dad with us. I look forward to watching your videos everyday.

The fear in his face is heartbreaking, but you can see that your words really help put him at ease. You’re both amazing.
I am so glad Ed has you.
And he has Danielle too!
Loving, caring family!
Praying for your Dad's healing🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I know many people think that Ed is being taken advantage of but he is a highly intelligent man. If he had a problem with them talking on camera about his condition he would raise objection and if he was being mistreated in any way he wouldn't be so damned calm and good natured. I think Dan and Danielle and everyone else involved love Ed and they have his back. Trust me no money in the world would be pay enough for what they have to go through on a daily basis to care for him. That caliber of caregiving is because they love and respect him.
Rubbish @@lindadavy6641
Oh Linda you are full of negativity. There is nothing erong putting him on camera to share to the world how they are dealing with dementia patient and yes you're right for views to earn extra and definitely nothing is wrong as it's thier life tho.😊@@lindadavy6641
@lindadavy6641 nope!

I hope my children are as loving as you are Dan, it's not easy taking care of your parents 24/7 I hope If I ever need my kids like Doc needs you, This is an incredible and loving as you are 💙❤️🤗
Mandy you took the words right out of my mouth - I hope too
I took care of my dad for the last decade of his life. Whenever we went to the hospital he was scared of “ne er coming home”. Stay strong. You have many of us who admire and love you and your dad.
Thanks for the words. I’m sorry for your loss.
My mil lives with me at 82 Yrs old. She has the same fear. She refuses to allow medical help when it’s needed. She’s afraid it will be the end. But, I’ll override her, when it’s needed.
I decided to finally comment and commend Dan for taking care of your dad.
Having to repeat the same thing over and over is very repetitive you've shown patience & understanding.
My hats off to you Dan & family. Hats off to your dad for making it to 92. You all are so blessed to have a great family.
#GodBless
He’s a champion. A superstar.
At least he cooperates. Many don’t and fight hard. They r so scared of everything. Ed is very trustworthy of Dan.
Truly one from “the greatest generation”. Nature, nurture, and circumstances of your Dad’s era helped mould them into, well…the greatest generation.
the silent generation. that's grandpa!
I mean technically, he's from the silent generation.
@@boulevard14 real close to greatest generation of 1900-1920. Being raised by parents of 1900-1920 would produce spillover mores. Thanks for correcting me, though!
@betsylindsay8480 I think the last of that generation were born at the end of the mid-20s. But yes, his parents would definitely had been part of the greatest generation who fought and worked during the war.
@@betsylindsay8480 oh honestly, I didn't know there is a "greatest generation". And didn't know I may have been contradicting you. So sorry about that, Betsy. Thank you for being so kind. And best regards your way. :)

Take care Dan.I have not been watching for quite sometime and you have got thinner!
Take care and God bless.🙏🕯️🌹
It’s amazing how much that generation is like that my mom is 83 and has Leukemia and takes a chemo medication every day and she is amazing ❤ it sure would be nice if the younger generation could have some of that kind, hard working and be a tank like them lol You guys are amazing with him!!! Thanks Dan 😊

There’s no better generation than any other one. People are people. Why lift one up while you put the other one down?
Dr Salinger IS AMAZING!
So glad it went well and he’s healing up! You take such good care of him❤️🙏
I had a big smile when Dad lit right up when you mentioned lunch. I’ve had the mohs procedure on my nose too. Followed by another procedure where they made a vertical cut in my forehead and pulled skin down through the big wound in my nose and stitched it around the opening in my nose. Glad to see that all went well. Appreciate all of the care you and Danielle give your Dad!
I pray for speedy recovery 🙏
Bless you all for caring for your Dad 🙏❤
Mohs' procedures are no fun. I've had about 15 of them mostly on my face. PLEASE WEAR SUNSCREEN PEOPLE!! Not only is the surgery difficult but so is the aftercare for at least a few weeks. Dan, bless you for keeping Pop calm and nursing him back to health. At least the face heals quicker vs extremities because of blood flow. I hope Pops keeps his hands away. Wishing him speedy healing and bless you and family for taking good care of him. Xo 🤗🤗🤗
Is that what causes it then, the sun?coz Ed seems to smart to of exposed his skin to sun to much, he's had several removed already as well x
@@laurajanedavis8757 old sun damage from like the 80s when no one wore sunscreen, also my heritage-- I'm half Swedish and half Russian. Northern European's are more prone cuz we have very fair skin. Please use sunscreen!!

Dan you amaze me. He is so blessed to have you there because so many elderly have no one. That's one of the main reasons I love being a caregiver. I love calming the person and making them feel safe. I'm retired and one day I will have to have things done . I have no family to help calm me. Being a caregiver is something I love to do. Bob is always thinking of eating. You gotta love this guy. I agree with you 💯 percent! The fact dad goes to his other son, is amazing! You can tell how much they love him❤😢!
You're doing a good job. Not easy. Been there too. My 88 year old dementia loved one came through an emergency appendectomy very well. He was in such pain that I could not get him out of the car myself - a veteran (I drove him to the VA hospital) helped him out of the car & into a wheelchair to the emergency room. Sometimes I'm glad that we cannot see the future! I would have been even more anxious.
I am enjoying watching Dan evolve into such a beautiful caretaker. It’s a learned process and Dan has been wonderful! The sad part is watching the memory of his father slipping slipping. :( God bless you all!
Praying for grandpa's speedy recovery 🙏.

This might sound kinda odd but man I’d give anything to be able to take care of my dad like this He died of pancreatic cancer when he was 74 Healthy his whole damn life and in 6 months he was gone My best best best friend ever He has ruined best friends for me because it can’t be topped And I would give anything to be able to help my dad this way I know it would be incredibly difficult But my point is It’s a blessing to help him You’ll realize that some day soon if you don’t already
Take care Hope he recovers alright
