- I was recently asked if I could recommend a short stand up paddle board here in the Lake District so today I have come down to Coniston to show you one possibility. I arrived early with my paddle board and packed up near Brown Howe Car Park on the south west shore of Coniston. Here there is easy access to the water. The calm waters and stunning scenery made for a beautiful paddle to Peel Island.
The Lake District has many beautiful places to stand up paddle board and I look forward to being able to take you along on more paddling adventures. If you have any ideas as to where I should explore next I'd love to hear them in the comments below.
Thank you so much for watching, have a great week and hope to see you all on the next adventure.

Betty I went and did this today.. wind was horrid, and went to wrong island.. lol what i though was an island was attached to the mainland, so set up off the tiny island next door, gave you several shout outs throughou the video, will send you alink when i edit it. will be a while as been on a 10 day vanlife adventure. Hope ya well and thanks for the inspration.
Oh man, sounds like you had quite the mission! When the wind funnels down Coniston it can be a real slog. Does sound like you had a good venture neither the less, cheers for the shouts outs much appreciated! Nice, ten days in the van I'm sure was great was it round the lakes? Look forward to seeing your film of the paddle, have a great week!
W❤️W! That’s Awesome And Exciting Adventure! Cheers!🥂❤️✨
Thank you ☺️
Awesome video … I love coniston and I’m always there
Thanks Dave! It’s a great spot isn’t it, hope you’ve been able to get down there in the fab weather this week
Loved this. cant wait to get back out on my SUP
Thank you Craig! Ah nice, yes spring is hopefully round the corner and getting bit more tempting to get the board back out. Where's your favourite spot to go paddle?
Cold experience if fell into the water :-) Nice video, great exploring 👍
Thank you ☺ Yes indeed the water is still pretty cold at the moment, do my best to stay afloat!
I looked frreeezing! Lovely watch ❤️
It was pretty chilly! Thank you for watching, really glad you enjoyed it ☺️
We got some inflatable SUPs last year. Lots of fun and we're looking forward to pulling 'em out soon!
Ah excellent! Have you got a trip out on them planned? Weathers warmed up a little here so it's started to feel a bit more inviting to get back out on the water.
@@TheGirlGoneNomad not yet, water is still pretty cold here and air temp is not yet inviting enough to head out. Hopefully in another month!
@@RhodySeth Sounds great, hope it gets warmer soon!
So cozy so peaceful!
Thank you Sophia. There’s definitely something about being out on the water that’s very relaxing, I agree. Hope you’ve had a good weekend.
Good to see the hidden harbour again!
It's a great little island to explore isn't it. When did you last visit?
These micro adventures are so worth it Betty. Short but you get back exhilarated for sure. Nice paddle and wonderful views amid the fresh water. All the best. Mark
Couldn't agree more, sometimes just getting out for an hour or two makes all the difference to the day doesn't it, power of nature! Have a great weekend Mark
Thanks for the tour!
I'm in Alabama, Tallapoosa River, and SUP here religiously (for a decade +).
I often wonder what it's like paddleboarding the UK, having spent July 2000 working in Bristol, which was long before I knew of paddleboarding at all. I did visit some of your most amazing places: Stonehenge, Tintern Abbey, Chepstow/Wales..unforgettable!
You make a fine presentation, that's a very pretty board you have there, and the scenery of your countryside sure is enjoyable. Thank you, well done!
edit: Subbed!
Hi John, really glad you enjoyed the tour and appreciate your kind comments. Alabama how wonderful, I've never been to America but have heard there is a treasure-trove of national parks to explore. Bristol is a great city, did you enjoy living there? Close to the south welsh coast and Devon, some fantastic spots for paddling. Hope you have a great week and thanks again for watching!
Great video! 🙂
Thank you ☺
My comments seem to be getting deleted. Great Video Betty.
I really enjoyed watching this.
Love the editing of this video.
You are such a cool person.
Thank you ☺ Really appreciate your kind comments and glad you enjoyed it so much!
Yaaaaay! So happy you went to piel! 😅
Otter THANK YOU for the recommendation last year! Great little paddle, really grateful you shared it with me☺
@@TheGirlGoneNomad it's better in the summer when it's time to jump off the rocks on your way in and have a BBQ! 🤗
@@shanghikk I will defiantly head back in the warmer weather. It was a glorious one today, hope you got out and enjoyed the sunshine!
You are an Amazingly amazing lady
Lot of love from india
Thank you, that's so kind!
I buried treasure on Peel Island 7 years ago.
Really? That’s exciting. Have you been back since?
@@TheGirlGoneNomad no. But I’ve got a treasure map. I’m planning on giving it to my son when he’s old enough for adventure 😂
@@SoulFlask What a brilliant idea! Sure he’ll have a great adventure. Lake districts very own treasure island.
@@TheGirlGoneNomad there’s a twist though. There are many Peel Islands hahaha
But hey! Nice videos. If you cycle at all I’d be up for doing a joint venture. Check my last vid
