Great video. I need to call out the "safety first" comment. Never use an ankle leash on a river. If you bail and the board gets caught up stream in a fast section, even with abs like the rock, you aren't reaching it to untether. Either use a waste belt, or don't bother.
Thanks for your comment Paul 👋🏼 Great advice, since the video I have become more aware of the potential dangers with ankle leashes on rivers. I would go without these days 🏄🏼♂️
I know it's bad to use an ankle leash in a river as my friend told me when we went paddling together (him on SUP and me in kayak) but where is appropriate to use one? In the sea or lakes? Genuinely curious as I plan to get a paddle board when I can afford one
@@Connor-hl4fc the danger comes in fast flowing water when you fall off. If there is an object (tree/branch/rock etc) and you go one side and the SUP goes the other side there is a risk of being caught. With the flow pulling your body down stream, reaching to unstrap your ankle leash is where the difficulty lies with a risk of drowning. So lakes and the sea is more appropriate for ankle leashes or slow flowing rivers. A quick release waist belt is now seen as a better alternative or in fast flowing water no leash at all 🏄🏼♂️
Yeah I though it was the part from fordingbridge to Salisbury land owners object and is often policed not for navigation shame it’s such a beautiful spot

@@RAVANA7 hahaha 😂 the best way to test the temperature 🍑
Whereabouts was this? I live in Dorset and could easily get to the New Forest, especially for such a lovely spot
River Avon Hale Park. Nice spot! 🏄🏼♂️
Thanks - will check it out :)

People have said online that your not allowed to paddle their. Big sign saying it’s a SSSI area and trespassing if you get on where you did

Hi Mat. Where in the New Forest is this ? Cheers
Hi mate, launched near Woodgreen on the River Avon 🙌🏼🏄🏼♂️
Hi where in the forest is this please ?
Hale Park River Avon 🙌🏼 Read the comments on this video, I thought it was fine to paddle but other people seem to think otherwise 🤷🏼♂️
That's the River Avon and I think you'll find your not allowed to use a paddle board or kayaks on it
Oh really? I used the go paddling app to find this spot whilst in the area and there was no mention of that when I found the launch spot 🤔
