I like spending the majority of my time outside and getting myself into (innocent) trouble!

- Kayaking the river Thames solo (Guinness World Record)

I Built a QUADRUPLE DECKER Stand Up Paddle Board! (never again)

Escaping the modern day is getting harder and harder to do these days, especially in Essex! 🏙 Stand up paddle boarding out to this little island and wild camping for the night is about as good as it gets when you want to disconnect in nature! 🧘🏼♂️ No people, no roads and no artificial lights, just good company, the gentle sound of waves and the night sky 🙌🏼 One of my favourite local adventures...

@@brianmorrison9168 haha they are awkward objects to carry! My neck certainly struggled 🤪🏄🏼♂️
We took our 5 kids up this route in 2007 (8, 10, 11, 13, 15). I remember when we got up to the ridge wondering, what the heck were we thinking!? But they were great ( and we had climbed before). My husband and I had done the route in college and loved it.

could be better to have a small sail? I have a bigger sail like this and its need to much wind? Allways collaps down.

is the quality of sails different? What is the name of your sail? My sail does not work properliy...thx

is the wet suit necessary for summers when the water isn't that dirty? (Calgary, Bow river is on my mind)
@@danial_amini All down to personal preference but not really, I only really wear a wetsuit in the winter! 🏄🏼♂️

I cant see the point in a wetsuit, yes if youre in the water they keep you warm and have their uses, but if you're spending 95% of the time out of the water, paddling, wont that just make you get too hot, then you have to jump in just to cool down?
@@MrBwiskin yeh I agree! In the summer I don’t use a wetsuit at all! ☀️ When paddling in the winter I use them just in case I fall in as more of a precaution 🏄🏼♂️
@@MorewithMatI'm very new to paddle boards, literally today was my first go but my Mrs has been using them for 3 years. After about 30 mins on a Welsh lake in the sun, she's jumping in to cool down as she's cooking up like a boil in the bag chicken.

Awesome video! Your camera angles make the hair raise up on my neck, LOL. I've seen videos of people hiking that area when it's covered in snow and camping, too. I'd love to see something like that once. Fun to watch!

It just fell into disrepair and with all the added traffic because of the social media hidden gem hunters they had to decide whether to renovate or remove it, but come on, we both know it wasn't really that dodgy or dangerous at all, I did it dozens of times.

You couldn't have been on Lake Windermere, as there is no such place..... wild camping in the Lake District is illegal. The LDNPA issues fines to anyone they find wild camping....

@@MorewithMat Nope, there is no such place as *Lake* Windermere. It's called simply Windermere, the same as the nearby town. The word "mere" literally means a large open body of water, so in essence, referring to it as "Lake" Windermere means you are calling it Lake Winderlake.... It's a *mere* not a Lake. There is just one Lake in the Lake District - Bassenthwaite Lake. All the rest are "meres" or waters......

Thanks appreciate it! 🙌🏼 Dedham is nice but very busy throughout summer! Few good spots along the Stour all the way through to Cattawade. I also head down to Mersea from time to time and the river Chelmer has some great sections! 🏄🏼♂️

Walking around barefoot these days is asking for trouble.
If it wasn't that it would be a bit of glass or something! 👎🏼 I can't help it though much prefer being bare foot! 👣
Based on the research i have done, i think the v-shaped sails on kayaks are far more effective and maneuverable than the circular ones.
@@elektrofry interesting 🤔 Might have to give one a go! Is that research online or physically trying them out?
@@MorewithMat Might be talking about the Pacific Action Sails for kayaks. Not sure how you would go attaching it to a SUP though and they get expensive.
@@Macbrand oh yes just looked them up! They look very good and just the sort of thing you need! But also like you say at a price point ⛵️
Definitely used too much glue, I've used contact adhesive for years making costume items out of foam and you need the smallest amount possible, there should be next to no excess to squeeze out. If you need to do a repair again, use a brush to apply a very thin layer of glue, make sure it's gone tacky before attempting to bond together.
@@MattZab83 thanks for the advice and yes I think you are right! It hasn’t lasted but tbh it’s a bit of an awkward patch/place. Might try and fix it again at some point but mainly use a different board now! Although this one’s alright for little day trips 🏄🏼♂️
