Individual and team productivity metrics will likely lead to worse outcomes due to Braess's paradox. Some developers who may seem unproductive may be a team's cornerstone, and rockstar programmers may actually be causing a net slowdown of the team. If we combine this with bullshit jobs, it may surprisingly cancel out by getting rockstar developers out of the way by promoting them to management.

I found out that the most productive developer was the guy they fired first, long ago. Then they fired me, luckily.
