My two sons are in their mid-20s and are very responsible with their finances and in the long and short term that makes a world of difference on how comfortable your life can be. Financing is a smart move especially if you pay it off before the term.. And totally agree with making your money make you money instead of paying for the car outright. You put 20k in a good Roth ira or if a 401k is doing good with the market that 20k can make money just sitting there. More money made than the total cost of the cars term interest.

      But let’s ignore the fact that cars are depreciating assets and huge liabilities. Market factors can make retirement investments go down. Let alone most people don’t actually invest in their retirement. “Make money work elsewhere” is justification for bad decision. I’m all for spending your money how you want, but this is not smart investing. These cars are expensive toys that requires a very high net worth in order to justify taking a loss. Oh and btw, financing has interest. Do what your heart desires, but it’s all about what kind of risk you can accept. He should Celebrate “owning” this car and drive the piss out of it but don’t call it smart investing.

Also, any debt at an interest rate which you cannot do better than in another asset class is bad. In this case the interest rate is great, however, it is pinned to a depreciating asset, which is bad. It would of course have been better to leverage his money through debt on real estate or even playing the market.

    6:07 There is a world of difference between someone who can comfortably pay cash for a car like that but chooses to finance and somebody who has no other choice but to finance because they can't afford it otherwise. This car would represent a massive outlay for most people. Even if they could afford the payments it would usually be smarter to invest that money so they don't have to work into their 70s and have a comfortable retirement. In your case, you mentioned it was an investment for your channel. It's a big risk because you'll need a ton of growth and views to make it payoff, but there is no payoff without risk. The only downside to it is it seems like the exotic car RUclips market is saturated and you almost have to go the next step up to get traction like Aventador etc. Cars that people really can't afford even with payments. I am surprised these Huracans dropped in value to the point you can pick up a good one for $175k. Anyway, good luck to you!

    $200 isn’t bad for the car you’re insuring. Of course, by adding another auto policy you’d qualify for a multi-car discount (generally pretty big savings) and the biggest savings of all would be a multi-line discount for insuring your home (no savings on the rental per se). Don’t know if SF offers that in your state, but it could help. If you have a need for a personal liability umbrella policy (PLUP) that saves you even more. All in all, I’d approach it in the order above. Hope that helps!

    No hate here, $1200 sounds like a reasonable payment, but the numbers don't really add up. The car was $178k, and you put $75k down leaving a balance of $103k. Even if we make it an even $100k at 2.99% interest (thats the lowest I could find from the banks I work with in my area) over 5yrs thats still around $1800/month. The longest loan term available (again from the banks in my area) is 6yrs albeit at a bit of a higher rate. Even if we kept the 2.99% rate for the 6yrs, thats still a bit over $1500/month. You must've gotten an insanely low interest rate, or am I missing something?
    Thats a great insurance rate btw for a car like this.

    At 5:52 Well doing the math I can assure you that a $178k car with $75k down and $1.2k a month payment is not going to be payed off in 2 to 3 year’s unless you plan on paying more and against the principal which at that point that mean’s you’re being incorrect with your audience by erroneously telling them that you plan to pay the car off in 2 to 3 year’s making the $1.2k a month car payment only.

    • @malachishoffner525
      @malachishoffner525 2 года назад

      @@vincentred4541 You're not understanding how these 120+ month loans (which is certainly what he has) work. You don't simply "pay them off early" without incurring a massive penalty for doing so, because otherwise the lender would have no incentive to lend you money for such an absurd amount of time if they aren't collecting enough interest on it. At that point, if you can actually afford to pay ~190k (which is what the car will really be after taxes and everything) over 2 years AND the early repayment penalty, you wouldn't be taking out a 10 year or more loan in the first place. You would simply pay in cash like most Lamborghini and Ferrari owners do. Simple as that.

    • @Aristotle3132
      @Aristotle3132 2 года назад

      @@malachishoffner525 you don’t know what you’re talking about. My financial advisor bought a Ferrari 458 and he took out a seven year loan, but paid the car off in three. How did he do that you might ask? He ended up selling a piece of real estate and used some of the proceeds to do it. Also, not all loans have prepayment penalties, which is what you were describing. Stop talking about things you don’t know about. People do finance things for a period of time, but end up paying them off in a shorter time period than they have financed for.

    • @malachishoffner525
      @malachishoffner525 2 года назад

      @@Aristotle3132 You're having trouble reading, buddy. There's a difference between a 7 year loan and a 12 year loan. There are no 12 year loans that don't have an early repayment fee, period. If you do some basic math (i.e., Google "car payment calculator), you'll see that the payment for a 7 year, $100k loan is nowhere near what he claims. Also, talking about things your financial advisor supposedly does lends you no credence in this discussion, it's irrelevant.
