Hi Mr. Haduck these videos might not get a million views but for a guy like me with a full plate of worn out house foundation it's giving me confidence to fix up my place. It's a blessing from our Father the information you are sharing and may he bless you 100 fold you are the clearest to understand and most helpful man to listen to when it comes to cement work. Thank you so much I'm very grateful for your willingness to teach us and help us understand. I wanted to comment on your newest video, that you might see the comment. I have been watching the 20 plus foundation repair videos psychics myself up to make my life and my family's home better. Bless you so much
Not physics i dont know where that came from...i meant to say im psyching myself up to do the work on my house because you oaved a rough road for my understanding..auto correct did it again!
Welcome to Florida Mike. You're a fine teacher; I've learned a great deal from you. "It will be a day for building your walls. On that day will your boundary be extended." Micah 7:11
Taking drafting courses, and this completely cleared up confusion and half understandings I had around a number of these components. Thank you very much - excellent vid!
Hi MIke!!! thanks again for another superb vid on this mystery of masonry .... hope 2023 is treating you right and there are a lot of songs in your mind to sing
Very smart man where I learned most of my construction experience is in Florida Sarasota, Bradenton area, and that experience still puts food on the table here in New York today
How does anyone get home insurance in Florida with that kind of wind? In Seattle, concrete blocks aren't used much for anything, it's all solid poured walls in forms because of earthquakes. Thanks, Mike
I live in Florida, rates are tripling, Alabama gulf coast beaches are the same as Florida panhandle. Rates are about 1/3 of Florida. Guess where I am moving?
Great to see you in Florida. Glad you are ok I was worried about your health. Hope you can show me how to install fieldstone inside my home upload info video. Enjoy the great weather Mike. You are my favorite Mason.
fantastic videos always so informative just found your channel about a week ago looking to build my own stone house. Would love to see a video on how to build a proper stone wall like the old timers use too.
Hi Trever, check out, Early American stone work, or my playlist on rockfacing and shaping stone, but with the building codes, etc, I don't think they would let you build a stone house the old school way anymore, thanks Mike
Nice informative video as usual. During the video it was obvious that you were down there for a long period of time. I retire in May and hope to be down there soon myself. I have done four winters there already to determine if it’s for me. Enjoy those palm trees, there make me feel like it’s living on vacation.
I don't know why, but I'm really integrated in brick and block work. Maybe because I've never done it. Finding out you play banjo, and the verse you posted, you're my favorite person today! Take care. 🙂
Again Mike I really enjoy watching your videos you are so informative. I hope that you have retired and are enjoying taking it easy. My in-laws live in North fort Myers fortunately they had no damage outside of losing their carport and some of their furniture outside. Again I look forward to more videos
Hey Mike another great VIDEO... I am glad to see you are in the sun and having fun.... Yah Concrete and block brick might seem great but.. Hurricane winds at 90-120 with stuff flying in the air....yiks....makes short work of everything. GOD BLESS Ernie
Snap ties hold spacing on plywood cement forms.Old school would require horizontal walers alongside wood forms.Fort Myers is a beautiful area.Nice job on banjo w Rockytop.
We're always trying to stay one step ahead of mother nature but she's unforgiving. Florida is a lot nicer at this time of year, but I'd miss summer and fall in New England. Great content as always Mike.
Hi ,Yep they are around but not anybody asking for them, and now with all the codes, inspectors, architects, engineers, permits, nobody does it, thanks mike
Thanks, Mike! Fascinating. I wonder how Florida building codes compare with code in California and the Pacific Northwest, where they have to protect against potential earthquake damage? Enjoy life in Florida!
Maybe I am being naive but putting wooden forms up and rebar to make lintels seems like a lot of work when you can just buy them to order. You also need the balance of a cat to stand on a wall like that with a concrete pouring hose. Interesting stuff though Mike.
I would think that the air is salty down there and the rebar was already rusty looking. Do you think that the buildings are not meant to be up for more then 20 years or so? Won’t it still rust apart and then blow down?
Well Mike, if a hurricane is going to blow down my house, I would prefer that it happens while under construction and I am not living there as yet! Thanks Mike.
Hey Mike, I'm a recently relocated NY classical architect here in Sarasota. I would love to collaborate on something with you. It involves increasing wall thickness to avoid rebar. I feel rebar is planned obsolescence in concrete. I look forward to speaking with you....
Hi tech, I am not there to see it but we finished basements sometimes I one day and sometimes projects took months, it all depends what's being done, thanks Mike
How much more would it add to the cost of construction to require galvanized, epoxy coated or stainless rebar especially in high moisture, saline conditions. My best guess is that much of the thinking is based on two points: that the rebar is hidden so it's out of sight, and that rebuilding is more profitable for industry than repairs and maintenance
Large stucco panels need the relief dividers. I think my architects limit stucco panels to 400 sq-ft. We saw many cases where stucco cracked do to no relief over too many sq-ft of surfaces on schools and commercial buildings.
The disregard of work safety of the first crew distracted my attention from you actual content. Falling down on a construction site is not bravery, it is stupid. Does not take away from your video, thank you for that!
I could watch these videos all day long.
Thanks Ro, Mike
I’ve been watching them all day! Mike is a people person and very knowledgeable about everything from A to Z…

You are a great teacher Mike, love all your vids especially masonry, take care!
Thanks Jack, Mike
That wind made a mess of those blocks.. I hope they clean and stack some for re-use. Wish I was closer to come hear some picking!
Thanks Braz, Mike

Thanks Echord, Mike
Excellent narration, i'm from Kenya & i want to introduce these kind of blocks in rural areas & your tutorials are spot on.
Thanks George, Mike
God bless you Mike . May you have many more years of sharing your wealth of knowledge. Enjoy the sun brother.

How does anyone get home insurance in Florida with that kind of wind? In Seattle, concrete blocks aren't used much for anything, it's all solid poured walls in forms because of earthquakes. Thanks, Mike
Hi yoga, yep getting insurance in Florida is almost impossible and expensive, and I am surprised myself about the blockwork, thanks Mike
I live in Florida, rates are tripling, Alabama gulf coast beaches are the same as Florida panhandle. Rates are about 1/3 of Florida. Guess where I am moving?
Wind can be damaging but it's the flooding that causes the most damage. Don't be near the ocean, lake, pond, stream or retention pond
Hi, I hear you, Mike
@@nmatthew7469 I agree with flooding near the water. Once a hurricane comes on shore though, winds and pop up tornadoes are the culprits!
Great to see you in Florida. Glad you are ok I was worried about your health. Hope you can show me how to install fieldstone inside my home upload info video. Enjoy the great weather Mike. You are my favorite Mason.
Thanks Chris, I appreciate it, Mike
You explain so well your a fine mason!!!

Welcome to Florida! Looked like Cape Coral where the blocks were blown down.
Hi Mark, yep I seen a couple like that, Mike
Awesome video! Your knowledge is incredible and inspiring!

Mike you look really relaxed in Florida.
Thanks,I like it, Mike

Mike ,
Do they use the ICF blocks down in Florida seems like a good alternative 🤔? I know there expensive maybe that's why there not used as much.
Hi Steve, I haven't seen any, looks like every building is the same unless it's a double wide or trailer , thanks Mike
Good to see you mike
Thanks William, Mike
Very interesting mate.
Thanks Chuck, Mike
Florida is, to my knowledge, a popular place to retire.
Hope you're having a blast.
It's well deserved, Sir.

Very interesting. Do you miss PA? I figure I will live my entire life in NJ with the 4 seasons.
Hi Das, I been trying to get down here for years, thanks Mike
great video Mike!
Thanks Stef, Mike
How do you frame floor joist for 2nd story all block wall home? Do you use a ledger bolted to the block wall and use hangers on the ledger?
Hi dapper, I would ask the local inspector, there is a lot going on there, thanks Mike
Is there master masons out there that use or make block or cement arches instead of lentils? Thanks for sharing great info.
Hi ,Yep they are around but not anybody asking for them, and now with all the codes, inspectors, architects, engineers, permits, nobody does it, thanks mike
I'm glad they have camouflage harnesses for those boys walking the blocks. 😖 Enjoy the weather, rest and relaxation down there Mike.

Will the steel rebar rot over time
Hi Jason, I have a video out called " should I use rebar or wire in concrete, Mike haduck, I give my best opinion there, thanks Mike
Maybe I am being naive but putting wooden forms up and rebar to make lintels seems like a lot of work when you can just buy them to order. You also need the balance of a cat to stand on a wall like that with a concrete pouring hose. Interesting stuff though Mike.
Thanks Darren, Mike
Absolutely excellent education! Thank you.
Thanks, Mike
rock on Mike! Was the Banjo through a pedal or some kind of synthesiser/sampler before the amp?
Hi Markio, we were playing Rocky top but they flaked me for copyright so had to change it ,thanks Mike
I would think that the air is salty down there and the rebar was already rusty looking. Do you think that the buildings are not meant to be up for more then 20 years or so? Won’t it still rust apart and then blow down?
Hi Joe, they keep upping the codes, against the ocean I think they rust faster, thanks Mike
Well Mike, if a hurricane is going to blow down my house, I would prefer that it happens while under construction and I am not living there as yet! Thanks Mike.
Thanks Juliet, Mike
How do they handle the OSHA requirement for fall protection if more than six feet off the ground?
Hi Greg, it's mostly about the money, thanks Mike
Hey Mike, I'm a recently relocated NY classical architect here in Sarasota. I would love to collaborate on something with you. It involves increasing wall thickness to avoid rebar. I feel rebar is planned obsolescence in concrete. I look forward to speaking with you....
Hi Joseph , sometime, I am still getting settled, thanks Mike
Mike do you offer any in person training? I would be interested in a repointing class.
Hi Andrew, I can't but thanks for asking, Mike
Retired and living the good life in a band with all those blue-haired groupies. I'm jealous!
Thanks Dr, Mike
Hey Mike, what kind of plate do the put the trusses on? What is the name of that plate? Thanks
Hi, I think the carpenters would best answer that for their area, thanks Mike
Great stuff.
Thanks Denis, Mike
Great video Mike I wonder why they don’t make rebar out of carbon fiber it’s stronger than steel rebar
Price probably. Also composite materials sometimes delaminate. Stainless rebar is cheaper if you can find it.
They do fiberglass now but it doesn't bend.
Thanks Paul, Mike
You the MAN BIG MIKE.👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Joseph, Mike
Hy i have like 1 month after reaching the top wall and i haven't installed the lintel is is advisable or was it supposed to be built immediately
Hi tech, I am not there to see it but we finished basements sometimes I one day and sometimes projects took months, it all depends what's being done, thanks Mike
Wheres the link to the video where you put one in the existing wall? No links in description got me goin
Check out part 1, thanks Mike
Buenísimo. 👍
Thanks senor, Mike
Good to be warm, tanks for sharing...
Thanks Tom, Mike
Give thanks...... Mike can you recommend someone that can remove and install new lintels in north east philadelphia. 19111.
Hi jimmy,, sorry I dont,, Mike

Hi, I don't have enough information on that yet to make a comment, but it is something to consider, thanks Mike
That falling out piece of metal above my garage doors is a lintel? 😱 Video on replacing metal lintel, please! Without taking the entire wall down!
Hi Salty, I can't say unless I was there to see it, I would ask some of the locals, thanks Mike

Thanks ,Curtis, I know what you mean, Mike
I don’t understand the purpose of the holes. Is it just to see if the concrete completely filled the void?
Yes, the inspector has to see the holes filled, thanks mike
Living in Florida? Who's going to keep patching PA to hold it together?
Thanks Rosey, I got lots of pa video yet to publish, Mike

Pennsylvania lost a good man , Florida has 2 things going for it. No brutal winter and better politics.
Thanks Aaron, Mike
not lentil, its lintel with an i not an e.
lentils are what Americans don't eat,, which is one of the reasons they're so fat
It's his Pennsylvania accent.🤣
