That ventilation opening in the back door, does it have a flap on it so it's shut closed normally? If it does and you routed a cable through it, the interior of that car will be very humid in humid weather. I routed a backup camera like this once, then re-routed it through a grommet later because of the sudden "rainforest smell" in the parked car (was not a H3 though).
You said bc of covid you couldn’t get the h3 version, can you provide the link to the h3 one so I can see if I can buy it now? Everything I’ve found is nothing but jeep brackets
I just ordered everything in the description, with the exception of the AX100. I got a AX3200 because I couldn't find the AX100. Used your videos as a step by step for radio and camera. Everything works except the reverse trigger. The camera button on the home screen works but not when the gear selector is put in R. I rang out the harness and it appears correct (soldered connections). Any advice is appreciated...
Sounds like an issue with the reverse trigger wire on the smart harness (I assume Crux). I suggest reaching out to crux customer support for help. Worst case scenario, you just run a wire from the reverse light + to the reverse trigger input.
@@ProvoBeastAudio Yes the Crux SOCGM-17C. I think unfortunately you are correct, the harness tested ok but I assume the module is faulty. I am going to order a new one and try swapping just the module. For now the wife is just using the home screen camera button and is happy. I will report back...Thank you, great videos.
Figured I would update my comments. I contacted Crux and was told the 2008 H3 does not have the ability to trigger the backup camera from the smart harness. I would need to tap the reverse light 12v +. Which I did at the drivers kick panel. Crux customer service is top notch but definitely disappointed in the extra unexpected work. Also, my rear door speakers alternate cutting in and out unless the connector into the Crux module has pressure on it from the side. That took a bit to figure out as I tested the harness again for continuity, this time while manipulating, thinking I had a bad wire or terminal.
Parts used linked in the description of the video!
6:20 How did you open the inner side trim panel? Did you have to remove the panel on top of it?
Thank you so much, this product worked great on my hummer.
How and where do you add the extra red accessory wire?

Can you use a toggle switch instead.
Toggle switch for the reverse trigger? I guess you could. Seems like you will use just as much effort not doing it the right way
how did you connected with transmission
Reverse trigger is generated by the smart harness used in part 1 where we installed the radio.
