Followed these steps in an 07 and everything worked out great, the Sony unit from this video was not available so I used XAVAX550 from Sony. Great video!
Provo Beast helped me solve an issue with my install. They knew exactly what the solution was and provided the exact remedy. I obviously did not connect the Blue White wire. Thank you for helping this novice.
I have a 2008 H3. My stock radio/navigation screen is dark. I cant find out how to make it lighter. Are there bulbs in the navigation unit that may be blown out. ??Thanks.
Just purchased your recommended parts from AMAZON. I have a question? When mounting the head unit on to the mount, you did not show how the head unit physically connects to the face plate. Are there screws. To me it looks like if installed as shown, if I were to utilize the touch screen, the unit would be pushed in and detach from the mount. Am I missing something? Thanks.
Doing this on my h3 alpha, i plugged it all up, i get the chime from my box, but the radio wont turn on, all connections are secure. does the car not allow the radio to power on if the rest of the dash isnt assembled (all the connections for hvac, 4wd etc?) am i missing something? im no rookie, and yellow, red, black arent hard to mess up. i should at least get power im thinking...DOA head unit maybe?
We do that for the next installer - Red wire is an extra accessory if needed, and blue wire is an amplifier turn on trigger if the customer adds an aftermarket amp down the road. This prevents the need to tear apart the harness later on.
I have a 2007 without the bells and whistles like steering wheel controls or Bose system or a factory amp. Why do I find a PAC RP5-GM11 interface instead of one like you use? Not sure if mine is giving me issues yet as I just pulled the stereo to inspect for problems but can I just use the interface you used? I think I would like to just do another harness so I know it was done right and I did it. BTW, my radio is a PIONEER AVIC-8201NEX. Thanks.
I installed a Kenwood DMX905S in my son's H3. Used the Crux harness you used, connecting wire to wire on the Kenwood. Is there any reason my backup cam wouldn't trigger if i'm connecting the Reverse Gear Output to the Reverse Trigger on the kenwood harness? Also...have you ever heard of the unit not going off when you turn the car off (doors opened/closed, etc). All access power stays on until i power the radio off...then everything turns off (no keys in the ignition). Thanks and the video was extremely helpful.
Installed a double din in my 2009 h3 hummer with monsoon system. All the speakers work and sound good but my sub is very quiet. It is on, but only hear it when i put my head right by it. Reinstalled the original head unit to make sure and it worked fine. Any ideas?
I installed this and I can’t tune how much bass I want can you help me out what do I do wrong everything else works just fine except for the tune of the bass the subwoofer works but I can’t tune it???
What about the second wiring harness plug from the H3? Same stereo same harness but no plug for the second factory stereo wires? Is the second harness not necessary??
Thanks I got a bad radio I’m thinking my phone syncs up. Perfect, it searches for channels on the radio. Perfect everything works. I can make phone calls I can receive texts. I can use the maps but there is absolutely zero volume no matter what I try. Lol. Wiring is all correct I’ve checked it five times now and I don’t think one crossed speaker wire would do that even though I’ve checked to make sure none of them are crossed.
@@deplorable_pureblood_patri7704 I assume you figured it out but incase you didn't or for others with this issue I'll say what solved it for me. One of the two wires he left out (don't remember if it was the blue or red) is the power for the stock amp. If you connect that to the red 12v power then you will have audio.
cool! i have the stock monsoon system with amp and woofer in rear on my h3. do i need anything special to keep them running? or will any radio with wire harness keep it going?
@@ProvoBeastAudio Is there any wiring kit (that retains steering wheel functionality) that is plug and play or do they all require matching up wires and soldering? Also are the wires color coded when matching up - or how do you know which to solder together?
@@mumhustler You will be required to match color for color. On most major brand radios, it will be color for color. If you don't know how to solder, you can use crimp caps or butt connectors.
Any idea why my aftermarket radio is so loud? Hissing when it’s all the way down and volume is low to loud! It’s like I have an external amp turned all the up. Any idea? 🤷🏼♂️
So I can’t find a digital touch screen receiver that’s 6.4. Would a 6.8 work with the metra 93-3304? And does the metra 93-3304 the only size to fit for a hummer h3 08’?
So I bought a hummer h3 with an aftermarket radio/stereo already installed on to it. However the rear speakers don't work correctly, I looked at the wiring behind the stereo and realized that sometimes if a wiggle the interface into a certain position the rear speakers kind of start working. I don't know too much about whats going on, but would it be best to just reinstall a new stereo, or just switch the interface or re wire with a new interface ? Also could it be possible the wiring is bad in which case there's no sound in the rear speaker ?
That sounds more like a loose connection or something with the wires, I would try to wiggle the wires and see if you can find the area they are damaged at
Parts used will be linked in the description of the video!

How do you keep the subs and amp system?
Thanks for the great video. You just saved me 450.00 dollars
Did you not use the secondary connector?
I need this answer too. Hooked everything up but have no audio output. No connections for secondary harness…
The secondary harness was not connected or was not showed. I have no sound and that is the one part I am missing.
Nice work!
what if you have the h2 with the bose how do i power the amp with the wires

High pass filters / crossovers set on radio? It pulls from the full range signal from the new radio.
I did try that. I set everything to bypass so they all get full range. I'm actually considering being a seperate amp and separating the subwoofer.

What did you do with the parking break wire?
Being a sony, it can simply be grounded.
Mine is a pioneer
You can use a parking brake bypass if you need to hook it up. Some Pioneers you can ground if you don't need video while in motion. @@fayereyes1300

Screen size is irrelevant as the parts used are designed for the chassis size, which should be a double din. Parts used work for all models of the H3.

Hi, would like to try and install a radio to my hummer. (First time) would a Sony XAV-AX150 be the same concept ?
Identical, yes.
Hey, does it work ? I would like to buy the same Sony radio but I am not sure if it fits good
So pretty much just connecting color to color?
you need to remake your video, you used a discontinued radio, I don't know what I need to buy to hook up a different one..
Parts we used work for any brand name double din radio on the market. No need to remake any video...
