The Weeknd is just on another level. I have listened to this album for more than 10 times and let me tell you that it grows more on you with every single listen. He goes through the album accepting the fact that he cheated on the love of his love and let her go for some temporary fun, he accepts the fact that he even realized the fact that his gf was unhappy but still kept her which in turn hurt her more. He begs her to not live with the fear of getting her heart broke again and just wants her to live her full life with all the fun. He also touches upon some real life incidents like seeing her in a club but she did not even show emotions when she saw him there. You unlock a new layer with every listen.

Absolute masterpiece. I can't remember the last time I listened to such a complete project. Features would have ruined this project. I have this album right behind Trilogy.
First time I listened to In ur Eyes, I exactly thought the same thing about the verse "I see there's something burning inside you", which sounded just like MJ
Faith is him going off on them drugs, at the end of the track he is in the back of the ambulance cause he OD, blinding lights is him inside the ambulance/hospital. Can’t really open your eyes without the hospital light blinding you. He realize he is alone, even the drug leaving his ass
With this album (and the help of RUclips reactors, especially @TheThirdErnest ) I went from only knowing a couple of Abel’s radios hits (and realizing he’s talented, but not particularly caring for his music) to being a full on Weeknd fan that’s jamming After Hours daily and digging thru his back catalog. I’m about to dive into the “Trilogy”. I’ve been told that’s what I should do from here.
Omg I thought I was the only one comparing Faith to Swerving! I don’t even know the full lyrics to Faith, the melody is stuck in my brain but I sing “When I OD, I want you to OD right beside me, I want you to follow right behind me, But you’re curving, Curvy little body love your surface” 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
For a first listen, yawl broke it down pretty well. 👏🔥🔥 The storyline is 🔥🔥🔥 I thought heartless was just a regular hit, but it fits into the album story line well 🔥🔥🔥
yeah the first couple listens i never really paid attention to the lyrics. it's kind of difficult to hear what he's saying in some songs but his voice just sounds so good, and the beat and music production on top of that just makes everything about the album so good.
After Hours is not only the album of the year, but it is The Weeknd’s best work. The album is of course amazing sonically and vocally but what really stands out is the tragic story of the album. To put it simply, Abel takes a girl home from the club in Las Vegas, they form a broken relationship because of how willing Abel is to give into his vices, but it doesn’t matter because she gets infatuated with him. Abel is then feeling down so they take a trip to LA where Abel eventually ends up cheating on her with some random LA girl in the studio. This sends Abel into a spiral of hedonism where he partakes in sex with random women, drugs, alcohol etc. and basically tells his significant other that she should’ve seen this coming until he eventually ODs and is put in an ambulance to be sent to the hospital. Once he makes his recovery he can’t stand not being with his lover but when he returns, she is mad at him even though she tries to hide it and she eventually dissociates from Abel. Abel then pleads with her to get back with him after she sees him at a party but it’s no use, she’s already found another man. Abel tried to convince himself that this situation his love interest has found herself in isn’t reality but deep down he knows it’s true. He then makes one more desperate attempt to get her to take him back but she rejects him. Abel then dies at the end album of the album because he cut himself and bled out. This is what I consider to be the tragedy of Abel Tesfaye and is an incredible depiction of a hedonistic man who gave into his vices and became a monster. As at the end of the story, he is ultimately alone. 10/10
Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this; Fore!, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip To Be Square". A song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends. It's also a personal statement about the band itself. Hey, Paul!
Abel : the house I bought is not a home 🎶 Vibevilla1: I wonder which one he’s talking about , Selena / the model chick . Vibevilla 2: cannot be Selena Vibe villa 1: how’d you know? Vibevilla 2: that’s too old for the weekend .
I loved how you didn't miss any meaning in Snowchild ! My fav songs , I've watched many reaction but most of them missed the meaning ! I love how you loved Snowchild , Escape from LA and Scared to live !
Yehh thats whats dope about this album, first listen youre mostly intrigued by the sound, and then on the 2nd listen you start catching more of the lyrics and its like a whole other experience.
You guys should check out RA the Rugged Man's album All My Heroes Are Dead. It's a little different from what you guys normally check out, but RA is one of the underground hip hop scenes legendary MCs, and this new album is crazy.
Great video, guys. For me After Hours (after multiple listens) is a strong AOTY contender, up there with West Side Gunn's Pray for Paris and Mac's Circles definitely top 3. Fav track probably After Hours or In Your Eyes.
I take faith more as the first part of the song is like doing the drugs, the come up(when the song energy actually comes up), the high, and then we get to the last part its like the come down(being as the beat is slowed down, and theres no energy), the regret, and you can also take "i ended up in the back of a flashing car" as either he got arrested and is coming down in the back of a cop car, or he overdosed and is in the back of an ambulance, but even though hes dying hes at peace.
I need y’all to react to at least one of the Griselda projects: Boldy James “The Price of Tea In China”, Westside Gunn “Pray For Paris”, Conway “LULU” 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 these are all contenders for AOTY
that “lil Xan, awake” is a lil blow at Drake, also Gesaffelstein - Lost in The Fire, can’t hide baby part is also a lil blow at Drake for taking a hit at Bella Edit: Please react to Lost in The Fire - Gesaffelstein X The Weeknd
Trust me. You guys gotta relisten to this shit and deep the lyrics. I'm pretty sure it's the same producer for the full album. Hardest to love is very similar to a drum n bass track.
The Weeknd is just on another level.

In Snowchild, "Walking in the snow before I ever made my wrist freeze" is referring to his drug use. He's been doing drugs even before he got famous.
David Gedeon also the fact that he’s from Canada and it snows often
Jekhi Swanson why do people give CB shit for doing coke, but The Weeknd is a known coke head and he gets love for it?
@@kusanarichibaku7542 i think because CB doest make drug songs to make it look cool.
Guys he’s also talking about how he has diamonds on his watches as well guys
I MISSED Y’ALL
