Josh this is so good!! I really appreciated the way you distinguished Chapter 1 versus Chapter 2, not as two separate accounts but with the second chapter being a hyper-focus on the creation of Man. I also really appreciated how you dove into the purpose behind God creating the perfect helpmeet (Eve) for Adam and what that signifies, how God values relationship and unity.
I've learned a thing or two! 1) God is a Giant Captain Picard 2) I've never thought about the fact that God specifically created humans while everything else "sprang up". Cool little detail!
I just stumbled on you and I must say you are a wonderful exegesist. Are you an Orthodox Christian? Your phronema is not quite like other non-denominational christians. Thank you in advance
Thank you very much! I am non-denominational. My goal is just to abide in what God’s word teaches us. Test everything by the scriptures and If I’m wrong about something, I need to be humble enough to let God’s word correct me.
@@thegeologian Thank you for your reply. Well you come across with the maturity of an Orthodox Christian ... may God bless you on your journey and if I listen to another video and find it to be similar in style I will like to subscribe.
Good content, good interpretation. My only comment is to use the KJV only. (Modern/new versions are tainted) Using ancient language/terms (Hebrew) are different than modern language/terms. Hebrew language was for Hebrews, Greek language for Greeks and English for English speaking people. This is the way.
Can I ask how you think we got the English version? The text was originally written (and spoken) in Hebrew/Aramaic for the Old Testament and in Greek for the New Testament. Someone had to know and understand these languages and English in order to translate it into English.
I've watched quite a few of your videos now. It's amazing how much you know and how much you don't understand. God doesn't have hands? God is a Elohim? God is Yahweh? The Trinity is God, all three in one? While Elohim can be translated as Supreme God, it is made up of the words for God and plurality. Elohim is multiple Gods. Yahweh is God the Son, who is given dominion over all of us, making him the father, creator, of the Earth and everything and everyone on it. But He is one of the three in the GodHEAD, or the head of the Gods. Yahweh is known as Jesus Christ to us, and we pray to God the Father always and only through Jesus Christ, the only begotten son, also known as Yahweh, Jehovah, or Yahshua, who is all the same person. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost, commonly known as the Trinity, are in fact three individuals who make up the godhead which rules everything below them, including all the other Gods, the angels, and the mortals. I'm not going to put references here, because that would take forever. They aren't too difficult to find in the scriptures. But perhaps the best example is the baptism of Christ. In that space we hear God's voice from heaven, see the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove coming down to the physical Jesus Christ. These are three separate beings. Nowhere in the Bible will you find a scripture that actually describes the sacrilege called the trinity.
John 1:1 is pretty clear that Jesus is both God and was with God. That makes Christ both God and simultaneous another person as well. There can’t be multiple gods. The book of Deuteronomy states that God is one. There are multiple places throughout scripture that echo this, stating that Yahweh is God alone and there is no other. Let me ask, do you think Jesus was created?
@@thegeologian Yes, John 1:1 is very clear. It is also clear that you do not understand what God is. It's sad that so many people don't understand Holy scripture. Then again, I get that so many of you believe the Bible is the word of God. That right there explains a lot of why and what you don't understand. Scripture is the word of God. And while the Bible is a compilation of some scripture, it is not all scripture, and much of the scripture in the Bible has been mistranslated and altered with many precious truths removed from it or twisted into fallacies. God is not a person. God is a type of being. Think of the USA government. It's a group, supposedly all individuals being one of, with the same goals. The president and the vice president being the head of the government. Now let's take it to perfection and we have the Gods, with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost being the godhead. It's really not that difficult to understand. Finally, research the original scriptures written in Hebrew. What we understand in the English Bible is often not what was intended from the Hebrew authors. Proper understanding in scripture comes from knowledge of the original language they are written in, the culture, the time period, and the level of knowledge the writer is using. I guarantee you, most people in this day and age do not have that knowledge, therefore much that is in scripture is lost to us, or at least very difficult to uncover and understand. These are some of the stumbling blocks Christ told us we encounter. I would have thought you were aware of this from what you have written.
@@josephnebeker7976 You're preaching heresy my friend. The Hebrew scriptures do not speak of God like a body of spiritual beings or a governing structure. He is Yahweh, a personal being who loves, listens, promises, cares, grows angry, speaks, etc. The Hebrews' conception of Yahweh was largely singular. "Hear O' Israel, our God is one." There are numerous passages which say that there no other God other than Yahweh in the Old Testament. You didn't really answer how you reinterpret John 1:1 to fit your view. Jesus was with God (singular) and Jesus is God (singular) in the Greek. This is the trinity. God is three persons in 1 being. It is not polytheistic and God is eternal. Can you provide any Biblical support for your view?
@@thegeologian I don't speak heresy, I speak truth and understanding. Answer me this: if God has no hands, how were we created in his image? Why is it you believe God does not have hands? Better yet, how did he write the ten commandments with his finger? Or Exodus 33:22-23 when God is answering Moses's request to see Him: 22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in the clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: 23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
@@thegeologian I gave you the answer about John 1:1 before you asked the question. God is not a person, it's a type of person. That is why we say God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. Three separate individuals who are all God. As for the scriptures you mentioned saying there is only one God: in fact they say we WORSHIP only one God through his son Jesus Christ. Notice it doesn't say we worship God the Father through God the Holy Ghost. Only through God the Son, or Jesus Christ. As there is more than one God, God is God and is with God because he is with other Gods. Just as I am human. I am human, and I am with humans here on this Earth. Of course, you believe there's only one God who is a split personality. Imagine believing in a God with a multi personality disorder.... You asked me to give you scriptures proving my point, and I give you John 1:1. Now you give me a scripture that proves the Trinity. No, John 1:1 doesn't work. Again, go look at the baptism of Christ. Three separate beings experienced by John the Baptist at the exact same time.
Great job! I am enjoying learning and diving deeper.
Thank you! I am glad you are enjoying the study so far. Let me know if you have any thoughts or questions.
The way you explain the human kind concept make me jump into the scripture of Ecclesiastes. I learned something more logical than I thought .
