    Evening Gregg. Love this video because of your commentary. It's good watching train videos but even better when people tell us what's going on!! So a big thumbs up 👍🏻 Keep them rolling thanks Stevie 🇬🇧

      Evening Stevie, thank you for the kind words! I have been wanting to do maps for a while , but finding the right software to do it was the challenge? The trick is to balance the commentary with the main footage so you don't get bored..LOL . Glad you enjoy the video and thanks for the support.
      Cheers Gregg.

      Thanks Glynn! The flies were worse near Moree, but not too bad down at Ardglen. Part 2 in a week or so.

    Great video, Gregg. With only 6 - 8 years before I pull the pin for retirement it would be good to see the Inland route up and running and maybe even get a couple of trips under the belt. It's been a long time coming. Look forward to part 2. Cheers :)

      Thanks Bret! They say on their web site that they will be running trains in 2024...which is not far considering how much track they need to lay? Plus the tunnel from Toowoomba will be the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere ? Lets see what happens!
      Cheers Gregg.

    Great video Gregg, the maps really help us from North America. Glad to see the Railroads reclaiming old lines. Don’t see that happen here. Can’t wait to see this line completed. Love this format, again great video. Cheers from Terry in Nebraska. Say cool down there.

    • @FishplateFilms
      @FishplateFilms  5 лет назад

      Thank you Terry! I have been asked a few times for maps, but finding the right software was the issue! Inland Rail is a long awaited project that is 100 years late...but better late than never! We don't see lines reopen here much either, so it will be interesting to see what it looks like when finished? Hope you're drying out up there and it's getting nice down here now!
      Cheers Gregg.

      FishplateFilms most of Union Pacific is opened in Nebraska, unfortunately the line to Kansas City to Omaha is closes because of Platte River taking out both UP and BNSF bridges. BNSF Pacific Junction is having major issues, hopefully they can get is in working order within the next couple of months.

    Always great to see your railfanning videos. This is another gem. I am thrilled that the inland rail project is moving along. The silent rails will sing again! Keep up the great work! Perhaps when you visit the US again, I can show you some great spots to film here in SoCal.

      Thank you Trav! Yes , we have heard rumours of it for at least 20yrs...so it's great to actually see it being built! They say 4yrs but I don't know???? It will be cool to go back to Northstar and see trains going through! I'll take you up on your offer sir...coming back in about a years time!!

    Great video. The construction of the new ,old line is going to be interesting. Will you video the progress ?

    • @FishplateFilms
      @FishplateFilms  5 лет назад +2

      Thank you Jim! Inland Rail is 1700 km long, using old and new alignments ,so it is a huge job but I hope to get to the major sites as it moves along? Construction has already started at one small project but the major parts are a while off yet.
      Cheers Gregg.

    Though two tracks appear here, beyond Singleton it's actually only single track, so this extra track is simply a very long passing loop to accommodate those bloody long coal or grain trains when they're in the same region at the same time, one can wait for the other to pass.

    Enjoyed the video! 😎 How many cars long was that coal train and do they load to about 100+ tons like here in the US? Look forward to seeing the progress on the rebuild project.
    Cheers from Indiana! 🍷

    • @FishplateFilms
      @FishplateFilms  5 лет назад

      Thanks and I'm glad you enjoyed it! The cars are around 130 tons gross, so about 95 tons of coal and most trains are about 80 cars. We have lower axel weights here so the locos are lighter than US ones, so less traction.
      Cheers Gregg.

    Hi Gregg good video i am a little bit curious why are a lot of main line trains on double track run on the right side instead of the left liked it did years a go? Cheers Eric

    • @FishplateFilms
      @FishplateFilms  5 лет назад

      Thank you Eric! A lot of dual track is now bi-directional, so they can run on either track in both directions, but even here at Ardglen, they preferred to use the far track /main for all the trains I saw? Tracks do need to be run on to keep them polished so the track circuits will work, and interlockings have reminders to show controllers to run "cleaner" trains on tracks that haven't been used for a while. There is a reason I'm sure..LOL
      Cheers Gregg.

    INLAND RAIL from the Border to Acacia Ridge
    • Great Video as always, nice balance of info & entertainment!
    • Now the Inland Rail is at the border, do you think it will cut straight across to Toowoomba or go around via Warwick?
    • If they do come through to Grandchester, I thought the obvious route from there on would have always been to turn off the original line at the Ebenezer branch & aim directly at the Army grounds adjacent the current standard gauge line at Greenbank.
    • Do you know of an Australian Loco & Track Message board that is worth the effort so I can stop bugging you with my Stupid questions?
    • Cheers, Tubby Lunchbox.

    • @FishplateFilms
      @FishplateFilms  2 года назад

      Thanks Tubby! Go to ARTC website and look up Inland Rail, there you will see all the updates and the final route ! It turns right near the border at Goondiwindi and misses Warrick , ending up at near Gowrie, then through the tunnel to Helidon.
      I don/t go on any message boards myself, only the Inland rail one.
      No stupid questions and I'll answer them if I can :-).
      Cheers Gregg.

      @@FishplateFilms • I haven't seen an Australian board where anybody actually knows anything, just arguments between EMD & GE fans. Probably best I stay away from that.
      • I've seen the ARTC stuff, the B2G Video + The epic Toowoomba tunnel Video just seems grandiose + an insane amount of money.
      • How are they going to expand Fishermen's Island & the track to it from Acacia Ridge to transport all that coal?
      • Cheers, Tubby.

    • @FishplateFilms
      @FishplateFilms  2 года назад

      The main hub will be at Bromelton, Beaudesert, and for the meanwhile., trains will be single stacked and run through the Brisbane network to the Island. Long term there is a line running through Greenbank , to the Gateway and will be next to the motorway down to the Port. But most of the freight will be local I assume? Plenty of room at Fishies to lay a few SG tracks to unload boxes.
      CHeers Gregg.

    • @FishplateFilms
      @FishplateFilms  Год назад

      LOL...Yes Wayne, even I thought 4 years was a bit optimistic! There has been a government study to see why it is so far behind and blowing out the budget! It won't happen overnight , but it will happen..........hopefully!

    • @FishplateFilms
      @FishplateFilms  5 лет назад

      LOL...most of the sites will be a partnership with private companies, so we'll have to wait and see! This is a big project with lots of eyes watching, so I think ARTC will be on the ball, plus with lots of private money being spent , they have more than just the government watching!
      This really needs to happen so lets hope they get it right.
      Thanks for watching.
