Eating Sheep's Head (Bacha) in BASRA, Iraq 🇮🇶 ٱلْبَصْرَة

- Опубликовано: 13 июл 2024
- I spend the day exploring Basra, the second largest city in Iraq, famous for its historic port and canals. I wander around the indoor and outdoor markets, before eating kebab and trying Bacha (sheep's head). The following day I visit the UNESCO listed Samarra, once the capital of the region hundreds of years ago.

Welcome darling
I like old cities and l like also the market with fruits and fishes, my favorite foods, greetings and love from the old Athens, greece. 🇬🇷❤️🇮🇶
How are you ?😌.
Warm greetings to you from old Baghdad - IRAQ ...
Ryam lm feeling great, l wish the same for you too. ❤️
Ahmed you are always welcome in old Athens.🇬🇷🇮🇶
according to what i see Iraqi people still keep there old traditions of hospitality as i left them 22 years ago despite all wars terror and economical sanctions that they went through. I think if you love to goo there just buy ticket and have some pocket money and i can tell you for sure if you go and nock on any door in Iraqi and ask the people to have you as a gust they will open there homes to you and let you stay there for three days and they will make sure you are happy they will never ask you any thing about you ..after the 3rd day they will ask you after lunch if you dont go on our way after the lunch if you have problem if you need something if you need help if some one fallow you they insist to help you . and so on .
and the tradition is so nice when you nock on some one door you just say iam gust they will welcome you by say sabaahkom allah bel khaer(اصبحكم الله بالخير) if you say the same word to them back thats mean you did not eat lunch yet . if they say sabaahkom allah bel khaer and you say masakom alla bel khaer(مساكم الله بالخير) !! thats mean you had lunch so they will prepear dinner for you or what every , as i told you you can stay three days and after the 3ed if you dont go on your way they will know you have some problem and you maybe not only just typical gust but you need help to so after the lunch in the 3rd day they will and can ske you if you have problem . during the 3 days the just make sure you have all what you need food sleeping and what ever if you pay them money for there hospitality they will see that as insulting them so be car full ..
and evey family in Iraq have gusts room . and every shaekh have big gust house or they call it in Iraq mutheef big room like the one he show in marrshes made off reeds so if you visit the marshes just go to that place hahahahahaah or u can aske about the closes mutheef .good luck
Jason these videos are amazing. I think you could win some sort of awards for this series as it’s just beautiful. Seeing the lovely people, the food, the culture, especially in a place that’s so foreign to the western world. This is absolutely my favorite series you’ve done.
That’s nice to hear - thanks Derek.
Thank you, Jason, for visiting my country, Iraq, and informing you about our cities, because Iraq is the oldest civilization in the world.

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh Ya Jason . What an mesmerizing sight . Love the market , it makes you see and feel like life again . Yes multiple wars have damaged the country but not the people . The people are resilient . The sheep head is good for a soup . The eye is sweet they say , it is gelatinous. What an excellent vlog once again Jason . Your Iraqi serious has been phenomenal thus far . Shukran for it . Take care and be safe and May Allah guide you and protect you and keep you safe so that you can continue to explore the world and show the world from the lens of the camera .
Shukran!
I have to disagree with you mate. Basra isn't skippable it has lot of sites to visit ( ancient ones) but it seems the tourist guide people with you aren't from Basra they took you to only one district called Old Basra which they know about. Basra has marshes part of Mesopotamian marshes. Basra was the seat for the Greek Seleucid Empire it has many Greek, Persian and Sumerian sites in the north of Basra provinces. Especially in town of Qurna, Nashwa, Aldayr(the monastery). Also It has ancient mosque the world first mosque outside Arabia as well as an ancient palace related to 9th century in the west part of Basra.
Hello Jason. You are welcome in your country Iraq. Thank you for given real and good picture of us as Iraqis.
Glad you think so. Cheers!
You are doing great Jason... Keep making these kinds of videos.. Loving them... Love from India 🇮🇳😊
Everything about Basra I feel like I'm in my own city... It's old beautiful yet everything you get you need. 💕🇮🇳
Kudos for holidaying in Iraq. They need people to go there to support them. Such a shame to see a once great country like this. Keep up the great work.
I wish you a happy trip and enjoy your time. All the love for you and the peoples of the world
I hope you put Arabic translation for your videos so that the Arab citizen can enjoy these beautiful videos

welcome to my city and my country Iraq 🇮🇶❤bro
Thanks for your video haven't been to basra 35 years ago 🥰🥰🥰
Hi Jason, I bumped into your channel by accident and have watched three of your videos on Iraq. I'm a bible person, and the story of Nebukadnezer is one of my favorite stories. I have also learned much of Iraq's history - the wars of antiquity - a very interesting history. Absolutely have loved the sites you have visited, the people, culture, food, etc. I was wondering ... I have not seen very many women in your videos. Definitely seems like a real man's world. I would love visiting that country, but wonder if it is woman-friendly.
Im Iraqi ,but I have ever never visited any province .Im really surprise about alot of gorgeous places in my country...For my family ...give my freedom ...to just discover my country😂😂😂😂😂.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You've missed a lot. I hope you visit the places in Basra really beautiful

@@user-cz1ip9dd1h Dont laugh 😂😂😂😂😂😂.you should be by my tragedy side 😂😂😂😂.about about you !which province did you visit?????😕let me know ...
@@ryammohammed4909 I will always be by your side and wish you success and achieve your dreams🌹🌷
Hey Jason, like your new hair cut style 👍
😳😳😳😳
Mohammed shocked me when he ate the sheep's eye 😳
I also climbed to the top of the spiral minaret in Samarra but it was 40 years ago. I stiill remember how fearful it was climbing to the top of the minaret when somebody was gong in the opposite direction and you are at height and on the narrow staircase.
Glad someone agrees haha. Most the people visiting it didn’t seem to be bothered!
Nice 🇮🇶🇮🇶🇮🇶
Nice video thanx 🌹🌹🌹
We wish you a good time
Very nice البصرة city
Historical and gorgeous city 👍🏻 when I'm studied Islamic Principal and Fiqih (Syariah Law) in boarding school so many book/kitab wrote in Basrah/Basra city hundreds years ago.
Someday Insyaallah i'll visit Basra, Istanbul, Jerusalem, Makkah and Madinah.
Don't forget Baghdad and Damascus.. and then you'd cover the most important cities in the Middle East hahaha..
there's also Cairo, Sanaa and Riyadh.
@@Ahmed-pf3lg Ya absolutely, and Andalusia region in Spain i think have to go visit 😊 Cordoba, Sevilla and Granada :)

Welcome to my city 🙂
9:16 it's pacha/pache (based of our pronunciation in iraq)
Sir,l am from Bangladesh.I used to watch your videos.I am excited with foriegn country and culture .I enjoy your video so much.I wanna talk with you.If you kindly give me a chanse of talking with you🙋❤️❤️
You make very interesting videos I would never have visited Basra, I am fortunate to have you show me so many countries.
I think Scotts also eat all parts of the sheep!
This part of Iraq is the cradle of civilization, Mesopotamia. Basra is a Sunni city Iraq is a predominately Shia.
Thanks Rashid. I think you’re right thought I’ve only been to Edinburgh so I’m not 100% sure on exactly which parts they do and do not eat.
Jason, I remember in your older videos, you use to be a vegetarian.
Changed a few years back now. Mentioned it in a few videos but it was mainly so I could try to eat the local cuisine of wherever I’m travelling. I’m fairly vegan in the UK though.
jasonhi!when travelling to karachi and egypt?
After that Montezuma's revenge you had earlier in the year, I was waiting to see if you were going to eat that sheep's eye.🤣👍
Hi jason love you
Like watching your videos, you look so kind and handsome ))
Nice vlog
Welcome in lraq🙋🏻♀️
Enjoy brother💗...
Shukran!
I tthought Mosul was the 2nd largest city? Pretty sure that was in all the headlines a few years ago
Miss You Boss🌹🥰😍
Tengo un amigo en su basra,se llama Noori y trabaja en un mercado en una tienda naturista
Great vlog Jason! Looks like a great country.....wonder why they all want to leave & move to the UK?
This is not true, not everyone wants to leave, only lovers of travel, because I am an Iraqi citizen and live in Iraq, me, my family and all my relatives. There are many religious tourist cities in which there is a special one in the governorate of Karbala, Najaf, the capital, Baghdad, Samarra and Babylon ❤🇮🇶
@@iraqismycountry1866 that's great! Glad you love your country as I do mine.
What I was meaning is that 30% of economic migration to the UK are Iraqis, so I thought it must be a very poor country?
Up to this video I didn't know that much about Iraq, there's nothing on any standard tv travel program so I hadn't a clue how historical it was.
Maybe one day I'll visit Iraq instead of the Caribbean or the Mediterranean & see the delights of Iraq myself, looking forward to one of those delicious looking kebab.
Are you still taking your trip to Antarctica 🇦🇶 in February? I’ve honestly been anticipating it since you announced it last year lol
Unfortunately it doesn’t look like it’s happening - but I hope I can go in the future
❣
4:28 - 4:33 the guy who just got his coffee destroyed. His face is hilarious!
Haha
With my dizziness and queasy stomach associated with heights I would not have been able to climb those steps and look out at the top so I'm relieved that you did it for us. 🙌....also can you spell out the greeting that you give to everyone?...I want to get it correct...
Probably not a good idea then! Do you mean ‘Salaam Alaikum’ (Peace Be Upon You)?
@@JasonBillamTravel THANKS!

❤️❤️
Hey Jason it's a beautiful place what does it cost for an average meal are you using dollars or dinars
Not at lot at all. Few Dollars at most tbh.
4 minutes, 20 seconds in haha, lmfao, spilled the guys drink hahahaha. He was gutted.
Ikr haha
👍
❤️😍
Is anyone going to mention the point at 4:22 where the man loses his drink?
I never noticed this haha
Sir ,please make a video in my country Bangladesh. Please come 5o my hometowm Jashore ,
When will you come to Iran
Shisha though very harmful still has a great smell with different flavors and scents
My God that tower gave me sweaty palms. I’d have managed no more than 4 steps before heading back! How can people even go up there, and with children?!
Hello. I loved all your videos from Irak. They are amazing. I’m speechless. I wanna ask you some questions. I don’t see any women. Can women travel or visit Irak? Is it safe for women to travel or visit Irak? Any restrictions for women? If someone is Sunni can travel or visit Irak? I’m just curious. Thank you in advance.
the question is whether a non-sunni or non-muslim can visit iraq considering that all the suicide attacks were committed by sunnis :) You would be save, just dont bring your belt 😉
🌹🌹🌹
When are you coming in Pakistan
In Europe they would have had a handrail put on the outside of the steps of the tower in Samarra, also compulsory wearing of fluorescent jackets. 😂
100% 😂
Watching you from Basra ! yes like you said at the end it's very disappointing and sad how neglected and rundown the city is and it didn't even go through a recent war like Mosul has .
willcome in iraq and i want to eatig pach in my house
You are as beautiful as Iraq
🇮🇶🥰
I love you
🇩🇿💜💜
This truly opened my eyes to Iraq. Obviously the Western view is that which was shaped over the past 30 years. Clearly there is so much more to this country and the wonderful people. Your guide is such a likable person and would be great to use to see this country.
You’re exactly right. And Hussein was an amazing guide!
