Looks amazing! Did you need special hiking shoes? Looks cold in July so a warm jacket too I guess. Does an umbrella work or is it too windy for that? Also how many days did the trip take and is it easy to find a hotel?

I know this is very late, but that was actually not glass that they were working there, it's actual lava. They were at a show called "The Icelandic Lava Show" where you can experience Lava being poured into the room that you are in, specifically the lava that makes up the black-sand beaches around here. (They actually collect some of the black-sand and melt it at extreme temperatures to form the lava that is then poured into the room)
