If you have watched our Intro video ( • DON'T LET LIFE GET IN ... ) you will know that 2021 turned our world upside down! We decided that as a family we would not wait any longer to start exploring the world and the Camino Frances (caminoways.com/camino-frances) was one of these bucket list items that we just had to do.
Getting ready for this walk (500 miles of it we hasten to add) was nerve racking, we are not massive hikers and we had not done anything like this before, however, after we reached Santiago de Compostela (www.lonelyplanet.com/spain/ca...) after walking for approximately 40 days we felt elated...we now know why other pilgrims do it and return time and time again.
We pretty much completed a daily vlog of our journey with two of our children (Henry, 15 and Megan, 12) and shared it with the RUclips community and we thought it was time to collate those videos and put the best bits into one vlog. We really hope that you enjoy watching this 6 week journey of ours and if you are thinking of doing it with your family then please feel free to comment below with your questions, we will answer each one of them truthfully 😃.

I have to thank you: We (my wife and I) did the Camino in Aug-Sept. Going into Burgos as you know the turn to the river route confuses people. I remembered your "tutorial" on that particular video. It made a huge difference...again thanks.

Everyday.Journeys, prácticamente sólo 7 minutos para Galicia de los casi 38 del vídeo. La parte más hermosa e importante del Camino casi la habéis ocultado. Y lo de 1 minuto!!! en Santiago de Compostela resulta incomprensible. La ciudad patrimonio de la humanidad y culminación del Camino, como si fuera irrelevante.

Thank you 😃 Look backwards, we often found that we were only ever looking to where we are going, however, the most beautiful views were when we stopped and turned around and looked at the scenery behind us...just amazing! From a practical point of view, make sure you keep some Compeeds in your rucksack where you can put your hands on them when needed 👣 Buen Camino and let us know how you get on!

What kind of things would you advise me to bring to stay warm or cool enough? Also I saw some people walking on the Camino on rainy days with very muddy trail. How would you advise me to handle those situations in terms of bringing specific types of gears? Thank you very much.
Hey there Dun Zhang, thank you for watching. Bring layers (tshirts) is our advise for moderating temperature. Also we all had light weight fleece jackets as these help in the morning when it is slightly cooler and during the night if it gets cold in the alburgues. Also a poncho to keep yourself dry just in case it does rain. You will have an amazing time and do let us know how you got on...Buen Camino 👣

Hi thank you for such an informative video. I'm doing the camino frances in June with my 3 boys 15, 9 and 4. Could anyone who has done the camino with kids tell me can I book albergues ahead? Or should we just turn up? My worry is being stranded with 3 bairns. Help help or advice very appreciated!❤
Hey...you are going to have an amazing time. We booked ahead (Booking.com or by phoning them in advance). If you mention that you are travelling as a group with your kids they often separate you out into your own area. Do not panic if you do not book ahead, there are loads of options on the Camino Frances for places to stay 👍🏻 Just do not leave it to late in the day. Buen Camino
